@@cyan.6399 I'm confused are you saying you had a nightmare on the stage last 7 year old cuz that makes more sense cuz I remember especially getting Nightmares From porky
Probably nostalgia. David Wise is awesome, but I think this version fits in more with the levels in Subspace Emissary(the jungle levels, I believe?). The original was more serene, calm, melancholy. AND I hated the bramble scramble levels, so I kind of prefer this version.
im not sure about everyone else but for me its cause my favorite part of the original was taken out which made the song for me. however, with that said, i still think its pretty damn good.
Same here! I'm building a playlist of nostalgic Nintendo music and there's so much Brawl content in there it's crazy hehe. Still some of the best remixes in the series' history.
Not to say that Brawl doesn’t have great music, oh it absolutely does. But you can’t beat Persona 4 Arena Ultimax or other games in the Modern Persona (3,4&5. Haven’t seen much of 1&2) in terms of OST quality
@@notyourdaughter666 I was so young when this came out. I remember all the cringy yet memorable smash brawl content that was posted on RU-vid back in those days.. man... seems like forever ago..
@@notyourdaughter666 Omg I never read your comment I feel so bad ;_; but you're right I miss Brawl and up to this point it still holds up for a Wii game!
@@gs32621 In my opinion, I like this version better. It's more instrumental and the faster tempo seems oddly more enjoyable. Plus, this version seems to fit the subspace emissary a lot better than the original.
This will forever be my favorite video game music piece of all time. Whenever I hear this song, I just get flooded with warm memories of me and my big sister messing around with this game in Brawl. I miss the times when things were simpler. Now she's in college and I don't get to see her much, but I still have this song to remember the great times we had together as kids. Video games are fucking amazing, man.
My younger brother sent me this video and specifically mentioned this comment and it made me tear up. We’re both in our mid twenties and live in different states now but hearing this song transports me back to sitting on the playroom floor on sunny summer days playing through subspace. He will always be my best friend
Characters interacting with one another, multitude of cutscenes, spectacular music and scenery alongside the two player co-op, created an incredible experience. And it was all compacted into an epic story mode. I will forever associate this song as Fox and Diddy Kong exploring the jungle.
@@Mello_Gelo Gameplay-wise, it just had issues that many people couldn't get over. Or, rather, it leaned perhaps a bit too heavily in the direction of 'party' versus 'fighting' game. It's not wanting things to change, and coming off the heels of the biggest surge for the scene doesn't help anything, either. Personally, I think it was the best in terms of content, but was the worst in terms of mechanics. The content you could play in it was genuinely exceptional and very fun. There were some duds in there, like some bosses in Subspace Emissary and some things not being communicated very well to a poor child me, but overall, it was a good experience. Mechanically, it just wasn't very deep, and for someone like myself, I can't see myself returning to that version of the game anytime soon, if ever.
I agree. Even though they aren’t taking (ironically enough, especially for Fox!), I can clearly see them talking about their adventures, their pasts, their enemies, their friends and family. Fox would also mention his teammates, including his second in command (which is, funnily enough, the second Star Fox member Diddy meets) and Diddy would talk about Dixie.
While I prefer the original, both versions do their job well. The stickerbrush stages from DKC2 required honed precision and timing, and a single mistake could spell death. The light, airy snyth of the original song set a calm, meditative mood, which is exactly the mindset a player would need to tackle these stages. This new version is quite different, but very appropriate for an energetic fighting game.
I prefer the more energetic feel of this version to the original, but honestly they differ so much in tone that it almost becomes hard to compare the two.
I love this one and I love the original for different reasons. I don't see why everyone's always trying to decide which one's "better". It's not like new adaptations erase old ones.
To this day, I still remember how I was playing Brawl and when I got to the DK part, I as child was expecting some hard Rock and Roll song, so I guess I didn’t really enjoyed this song, but while time passed and I started having nightmares because I was into creepy pasta and crap, this song was there, helping me sleep and defend myself, and I always remembered it as a part of me, and when I got to hear it again in ultimate and here in RU-vid, I felt like that child who was in love with brawl despite everything this game had, so yeah, this song is my lullaby, even to this day.
The original Stickerbush Symphony is an absolutely serene masterpiece of video game music, and has its place in my heart too. However, this remix takes the groundwork layed down by David Wise and derives a wild, adventurous, and heart warming and invigorating song that I'm not sure has any equals. There is no doubt in my mind, even after nearly a decade of listening to various artists since first hearing this song, that this is one of the greats among the greats among the greats of video game scores.
Wont forget little 4 year old me in 2009 who picked out smash bros brawl for my brand new wii at target only because mario was on the cover knowing absolutely nothing about the game or what it was about and I reached this part in subspace and my entire life was changed 😭. One of the most memorable sequences in smash history for me just for this music alone.
Jeez Brawl gives me so much nostalgia. Legendary game, I don’t care if it wasn’t meant for competitive play like Melee. Brawl made my childhood absolutely amazing, and I think that’s what Sakurai wanted.
the original sounds like something you contemplate life to. with this I just hear some friends going on an adventure somewhere far away. both are amazing in their own way
Oh my God I have so many good memories of this, the people we rented a beach house out with had a copy of brawl they brought with them and the entire vacation week if we weren't outside we were stuck on this water level where we couldn't see what to do since the TV only played in black and white. At the end of the week we tried one last time before packing up and we finished the stage. A nice nostalgic feeling of Sandy shores and fire pits waves over me every time I hear this. It really makes me want to be young again.
There's just something so wonderful about the memories associated with this song. Hearing it again brings me back to the days of stealing AA batteries out of all the remotes in my house just so I could play Brawl.
That violin is sooo beautiful. As a grown man, I'd love nothing more than to live in this fantasy world with waterfalls, rainbows, lush flora and fauna, forests, beautiful creatures and animals, sunshine and just this track playing :)
This version has much sharper instruments, which works much better than the aerie pads used in the original. Also yes the part at 0:36 is beautiful as fuck ( ・ω・ )
r4shka It is kindof dissapointing that they use real instruments instead of computer genorated sounds. The computer genorated sounds made it sound like nothing else. This ALMOST sounds like a nature show song. But still, this is a great remix, so I'm glad they liked the song enough to make this.
If you’re listening to this, you’re a Brawl Baby no doubt about it. You probably miss Subspace just about as much as I do and this song makes you cry and you wonder why Sakurai doesn’t love the Brawl community enough to give them a story mode that’s up to par with Subspace.
Sakurai didn’t want another story mode due to Subspace being leaked out early and didn’t want to make that same mistake again Shame because as much as I enjoyed World of Light, it’s miles BEHIND Subspace.
i knew i knew that song from somewhere when i first visited the internet checkpoint recently, and that set me off on a nostalgia trip trying to find this exact version!
As a misguided child that had neither friends or family(most of the time) to play Brawl, this song reminded me of why i played that game at all, man what a beautiful song...
I legit remember the first time i got to this stage on Subspace Story. This Track on DKC2 has always been one of my favorite tracks ever created and i knew the DKC days were long over with and id never hear it anew again. Then i get to this stage and hear this song for the first time and i remember saying out loud "No...they didnt just bring this back.." and i turned up my speakers really loud and shed some tears as i progressed through the long stage. I cant remember ever feeling such joy randomly like that. This track will always hold a place in my heart for that moment alone. Beautiful!
I forgot this was in Brawl, so when I heard it in Ultimate, I wasn't paying attention to the stage and I thought it was a Sonic song. It just fits right in a sonic game.
Here's my musical insight on both versions Both versions are vastly different, are made for different purposes, but achieve the same goal. The original one is a song made for a calm environment, to put up with the difficulty of the level, fully concentrate on the game without any distraction, and maybe even meditate mid-level. And this one is set as a multipurpose song, being adventurous, high energy, emotional, and incredibly diverse. However, both *want* the player to feel good, they want the player to remember these as their childhood experiences, and end their respective loop with such a bittersweet ending note. All of these factors make these songs amazing and should not be compared to each other. Just enjoy them, feel their vibe, if you will.
The nostalgia is crazy it warms my heart to see so many people coming here just to get those vibes when we were kids making memories without a second thought
I think this version is fricken great. Idc about the rose colored glasses you all lookin at the old one through. This has energy, the other has flow. Theyre both good
Fighting through the jungle as Diddy and Fox, having just lost Donkey Kong and having defeated Rayquaza. There’s just so much nostalgia packed into this theme, I can barely stand it.
People dislike this? I mean, this has easily got to be one of my most nostalgic songs. It plays in my head whenever I go outside on a walk/run, just looking at the beautiful scenery.
As a teen I lost my shit when the cutscene ended & this played while deciding the character order before the stage started This is practically the theme for Smash Run on Sm4sh 3DS to me
Maybe... Maybe I should go back. To cannons, and brambles, and shadows that I swear, somehow I will defeat. To worlds in fear, but united. To a time of heroes aligning, and enemies working towards a common goal. To a fantasy more glorious than we thought possible. To a symphony of beauty. To a new adventure right beyond the forest. To a time when everybody was as one. Maybe just one more time... There's always room for one more time.
DKC2's version is the OG and is great, but the Brawl remix is just as good. I wouldn't say its better but it's powerful. The Brawl remix was also done by Michiko Naruke (Composer of Wild Arms). Go listen to her tunes she makes good stuff.
This song genuinely makes me cry listening to it all of the nostalgic moments when life was so much more mysterious and exciting this is the best piece of music ever ❤
Brawl had the best OST and art direction of all the games I know smash ultimate has the best graphics but I just like how everything looks in brawl it’s kind of gritty but magical
I didn't appreciate this song enough when I was younger, now that I'm wiser I believe it's the best remixed track on the entire soundtrack. Absolute masterpiece
