Stickler works so well here, because he really isn't trying to be a dick to the devil. When he says, at least the day cant get any worse, he's genuine, because he also does regard the loss of Cuphead's soul as a bad thing in his eyes... But rules are rules.
I like the fact that despite telling his boss that he can't claim Cuphead's soul Stickler still had the foresight to grab the invisible sweater before telling him the bad news, because he remembers how the Devil reacted the last time Stickler annoyed him.
Stickler does NOT play, man! The fact he carries out his job so well and unapologetically just shows that even Hell has its own rules even the Devil can’t break. And Stickler has planned for every eventuality in the event something goes wrong, basically saying he will NOT be silenced just for simply doing his duty as the auditor, no matter how enraged the Devil is. Guess Mugman isn’t the only person going mad. XD
Yet a character as cruel, callous and chaotic as The Joker in The Dark Knight said that and I quote, “The only sensible way to live in this world is without rules!”
Wait, so if contracts expire in 30 days, then does that mean _everyone in Inkwell Isles sold their souls at the same time in the game?_ No wonder half of them fought you tooth and nail.
I have a prediction for a future plot to tie into the game, the Devil gives up on Cuphead for a bit and focuses on getting the souls of everyone else on Inkwell Isle. This involves opening a casino run by King Dice, which attracts all the introduced characters (like the carnival did). Everyone loses their souls in one day and runs. Cuphead and Mugman play a game and lose, then they gotta go on their quest for the soul contracts.
Theres diferents universes, but probably yes :/ I think cuphead will make a deal to free mugman Beating the bosses who made deals with devil (sorry for my english)
Actually, Soul Sales are different than a soul lost in a game. If a sale has been made, the Auditor (Stickler) will sign off on a Soul Contract and retains the right to question the soul-seller as well as document the location of the sale- implying these occur anywhere and not just in King Dice attractions. Presumably, these contracts do not expire as quickly as game losses. It actually is spelled out in Stickler's book that he shows here. 🤓
When they kept mentioning the most vile, cruel, evil demons in hell I kept expecting Stickler and was disappointed. Then he finally showed up at the end 🤩
I like to think it that stickler was only singing just to torture the devil, because he knows the devil can’t hurt him because of the impenetrable sweater so he’s free to make the devil miserable as long as he wants.
Also, he miscounted by a full MILLION during the second verse. There’s no possible way he’s that bad at math, so he probably miscounted on purpose to further mock the devil’s stupidity 🤔
@@Faux_Sunlight I think the episode just cut him off at "998 million"; I am sure he was actually going to fully say "998,999,999" had that not happened.
1:42 Devil is British SSSSSSSWWWWWWEEEEEEEETTTTTTTTTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In this moment, i see Devil to pray to God to forgive his sins and ask him to accept him back to heaven, in order to get out and go as far as possible from Stickler. Hahaha.
I never would’ve suspected that he was the undisclosed location of the sweater. Also, why am I not surprised that the Devil doesn’t care about the fact that thirty-one days passed
Anyone else think that Stickler was secretly thinking something along the lines of “Payback is a Bitch ain’t it?” because of what the Devil stuck him with back in season 1? HECK, I’m pretty sure that he got the sweater by bribing the guy who was tasked in getting rid of it just for THIS here.
Interestingly, the lawbook Stickler shows the Devil doesn't show any indication that there is a deadline on soul collection, but it DOES say Stickler has to authorize every soul transaction as any Soul Contracts that do not bear his signature are null and void... 🤓
"Further more the bylaws on subsate 7 and pargraph 7 and 37 specifically signify if you have failed to collect a soul in a 30 day period the soul reverets to it's original owner, and it has has been preciaclly 30 days therefore your persuite of said soul is unautorizhed🤓🤓"

@@proffittproductions2284 But who would fill the niche of King Dice in the Koopa Clan? And would there be a potential Starscream-like character wanting to overthrow Bowser?
So wait, since the Devil failed to get Cuphead's soul, the Devil is forbidden to get Cuphead's soul now? Because, spoilers, in season 3 the Devil is still trying to get Cuphead's soul, so what's up with that?
I think within the 30 days period he could just take the soul of cuphead just like that, but after that he has to steal it "fair and square" just like before in a gamble or something like that
Let’s be honest, we all want to obliterate those lousy bureaucrats who run social security and food stamps, even though we do try to play by the rules but they still give us Hell.
