Hello, Phoenix Typewriter here . . . . Very dirty & sticking type bars on this vintage Hermes Rocket typewriter. Most video here use much lighter chemicals like denatured alcohol & such. I use the strongest lacquer thinner available for most my cleaning procedures. I don't recommend unless you take extreme caution when using strong chemical like this. Self protection, one splash in the eye is gonna be bad, ventilation is critical & protection of plastic & other surfaces that will be damaged even with the smallest of exposure to lacquer thinner is critical and using a nice bottle with extension for precise application. That being said, it work great & fast. The key factor in this procedure is to flush & force out all the old oils & dirt with the help of compressed air. This will vaporize the chemical, so again protection & ventilation. You can't see it from the video, but there is a fan behind & above me & in front that bench is basically outside. I mostly do this totally outside on a cleaning stand set up, but couldn't find a way to film it there. Good Day !
