Spoke to a Stihl rep at the weekend, and he told me this year they're releasing a cordless backpack blower that will rival if not beat the one from EGO
Being a Gardner it's honestly frustrating since they want to do away with gas machines cause the battery ones just don't compare imo echo Stihl and Honda need to improve there battery powered machines for commercial use when your doing 20 -40 houses a day the machine needs to be long lasting convenient to use and just comfort wise gas back pack version is definitely less tiring than the hand blower so I'm not a fan that the back pack battery isn't connected to the blower it's just hanging on a wire
I totally understand the frustration. I'm sure there will be a ton of improvements in the next few years with all of the new regulations against gas powered units.
@@vaper106 that's a typical route for a 2 -3 man crew is that a lot for you ? or at least in California 20 is a light day 30 -40 being a hard long day it goes by a lot faster when the houses are on the same street or in the same neighborhood ... And that's cause theres a lot more competition now back in the day routes were even bigger one gardening company used to do whole neighborhoods now it's all broken up and routes are half the size of what they used to be or even smaller
Great review. I really like the concept and would love to go the battery route. The only thing that holds me back is the high pitch sound they produce, wish they would fix that.
Does this blower have significant "push-back" when using it at the higher power settings? I owned the BGA100 and that's the one issue I had with it; it was so light, your arm would tire because of the push-back, not because of the actual weight. I got rid of it and now have the BGA86; no problem with push-back now, but I do miss the extra power. I was wondering if the new "curve" design on the BGA200 reduced the push-back. Thank you.
I did not notice an overabundance of push back. I can say i was definitely not tired from the force of push back on this unit. Good question and this will be something i take into consideration on future reviews. Thanks for the comment and for watching!
@@WesternEquipment Found one today at a Stihl dealer in my area. Tried it out and you are right; there is push-back, but nothing objectionable. I like it.
@@karthurjr You don't have to buy the backpack battery; you can buy the much smaller AP300S, which is $240. Of course you'll also need the battery bag with connecting cord ($100) and charger ($100 for the AL300). You can hang the battery bag on a belt of your choosing, or buy the Stihl battery belt, which is $33. It is very comfortable, the 4 lb. battery doesn't sag on it, and if you've shelled out the money for the blower and other required accessories, it only makes sense to buy the belt.
If you were not using this commercially or for a very large property, then yes, it can be a pain, but there are multiple other models that don't require the backpack battery.
Great video Brent! Stihl does make a great blowers! You definitely need to take a shower after cleaning the barn. Thanks for sharing! Have a great and awesome day!
