I can't take credit for coming up with it, as I saw someone else doing the same on another RU-vid video & thought exactly the same. It is genius! Once you get it set up right it gives you just enough float to make life a lot easier keeping the line head or blade just where you want it (So it floats at a given height without much input from yourself once set correctly.) Also adds a little bit of swing/give, to bounce the line or blade up or down without much effort needed when you need to smooch up or down just a little bit to raise the cut or lower it for some precise work; or that one bloody weed that always seems to be at an odd angle or height!

Dang. Ten plus years of running Kombi shafts... No more flooded engines, shoulders won't be dying at the end of the day. Work at at a desk now and I still want one.

Big fan of Stihl and have been using the fr350 for 20+ years or so. cracking bit of kit for my needs and its paid for itself many times. 1 replacement drive shaft, 1 carb, and I don't know how many auto heads. Bumping does tend to wear them down over time but no issues with buying new replacements for the job it does. Thanks for sharing yours.

I had enough of the faff and wearing of plastic heads/ bump heads. The link I replied with, are what we now use. & they are awesome. Why bother with only 2 strands, when you can deploy 16... ;)

With the electronic ignition you increase the weight by one kg, thus decreasing the excellent weight/power ratio; I personally prefer the manual model

The time saving with it though increases productivity. Especially on quick turnover urban work, more so with large gardens where you need to walk between areas that require dealing with. The constant taking the machine off to start it then putting it back on; becomes a none issue. =]

How did you attach straps for bungee cord? Thanks
@shadowofthegardener
@shadowofthegardener 25 дней назад
I tie a bungee cord in a loose knot around the handle/handgrip, so both ends of the bungee are able to hook onto the Backpack harness. Which has a few little strap loops on it already; that take the bungee hooks nicely and they stay put till it's time to down tools. Hope that helps? If not, let me know and I will organise pictures or a video to show it. 👍

Did the rubber/harness that you carry on the front part attached to the handlebar come with the machine or did you buy it? I find it very useful to save weight of the lance. I bought this machine, it arrives next week.

The Blue Bungee cord, was added by me. It does not come with the unit, as you probably now know. Enjoy it! :)

Opinião the machine ? Nice ?
@shadowofthegardener
@shadowofthegardener 3 года назад
My opinion on the machine, it's epic. Hands down the best strimmer/brushcutter I've used. Replace the standard Stihl cutting head unit with an Oregon Universal strimmer head unit (www.amazon.co.uk/Oregon-110980-Universal-Aluminium-Trimmer/dp/B00C7R5E1E), running 16 strands of 2.4mm line & it will devastate almost anything. ;) What it doesn't obliterate with 2.4mm line, you can use up to 3.4mm line or switch out for a metal mulching blade etc and finish up. ;)

why you not use a blade

For this type of material, it'd be overkill & the line does it quicker without the extra weight and vibration. :)
