Me too. I run premium fuel as well as Aspen for winter storage... Also make sure to clean the spark arrestor once in a while it will run great.

I bought an FS70 two years ago. It runs like a beast and starts easy. Update, I added an Echo Speedfeed trimmer head and a grease zerk near the angle of the head, since they no longer come with 1.

I’m 14 (almost 15) and have owned an FS 70 R since September 2020. I actually originally bought an Echo SRM 225, but returned it and got the FS 70. It has honestly been the best trimmer I have ever owned. It is powerful, lightweight, and reliable. I have cut things down with this that you could probably only get if you step up to an expensive heavy duty commercial trimmer. This thing is a beast and I would recommend it to anyone looking to start a lawn business and needs an affordable entry level commercial trimmer.

This video convinced me to buy the fs70 last summer for maintaining around the electric fence i use to keep cattle out of my hay stack. I upgraded to a grass blade to help cut through the Johnson grass and other stalked weeds that were too much for the string and I've had a great experience with it after a year of use. Thanks a lot.

Thank you! For all your beautiful videos. Just purchased a second FS 56 RC. For farther 's day. Can't be happier. The first one last me 8yrs. Till I' ran into a buried peace of fencing. In my neighbors yard. At the time, we didn't know it was there. Till the trimmer hit it. Busting the bearings in the gearbox. That's when I' decided not to repair it. And just go for a new one. For $ 200.00 you can't go wrong. Holding on to the old one. Till we come across a used gear box. It didn't make sense to order a new gear box. At $ 98.00 dollar's. As the unit are worth $ 200.00. Thank you again for this excellent video. Big fan. 👍😉❤️

I love my Fs 70 r it’s done me very good . My step dad just bought the Fs 56 and first I thought he was using my grass trimmer it looks very similar to my pro grade grass trimmer the Fs 70 r . He told me that he bought his Fs 56 for light duty work . Unlike mine for more heavier duty tasks . I might have to need a more professional grass trimmer someday .

The Fs 56 rc is no problems. I always run 91 octane fuel its never given me any problems. I also use aspen for winter storage no need to drain the gas.

This video is prime example of why to research before buying. I just recently moved onto a 5 acre lot with about 2.5 of it I have to mow and weed eat. Had a yard machines cheap one when we moved and after 2 times spending 3 hours weed eating I said nope and went and got a fs56 now I’m wishing I would have gotten the fs70

You just convinced me. 5 acres and I cut about 2 of it twice a year. Thick desert grasses and small brush. Sounds like the fs70 is going to be a better long term investment.

Caught a smoking deal on a FS70, decided to put it on layaway. I’ve used my 56 for years, went through 3 heads, spark plugs, air filter, and two gear boxes. Still runs like a champ. But since I’m picking up more jobs than I normally would, I’m upgrading. I used a 130 and a 240 at work with limited experience and as much as I would like to have a 130, definitely not in the budget. But I’ve heard the 70 is very solid so I’ll probably use it till it wears out then upgrade from there. Stihl has to be the best brand I know of. I own 3 feather lights that have held on for dear life just doing light work and my buddy has went through husqvarnas like he goes through shoes but his Stihl 56 and 91 still go strong

Thanks for the comparison mate. Every Stihl product I have ever purchased from trimmers, to chainsaws, to blowers, have been a true workhorse champions for years. I'm going to upgrade my 10 year old homeowners curved shaft stihl trimmer for that FS 70. Old one still runs and performs well and I'll keep it as a backup.

I've had the 56 for 5 years now. Just light duty on a 1/4 acre lot. I use it once a week for about 5 months out of the year. No issues.

Yeah, video was a little bit strange. I talked to two different Stihl dealerships within three hours and both of them recommending the FS 56.! I told them I’ve got about an acre of land and they said overall it’s a very good one.

I used to use the FS56. It was so lightweight, I could manipulate it so easily and in a matter of a week or 2 with noi prior training, I was doing the fast walk edging and topping like my boss was. One thing I would like to point out though, it gave off a foul noxious exhaust that was annoying to smell and sometimes felt like it made me a little queasy. Mind you, this was after using it for full days in the hot sun AND it was fairly older. Pretty good on gas too! I'm actually about to buy an FS91 just because I trust Stihl so much after using it for so long

Could be the 50:1 mix ratio Stihl calls for. Try looking into AMSOIL SABER 2 CYCLE OIL. It can be used at a 100:1 mix ratio because of its quality and being full synthetic. I hear it really helps cut back on those heavy exhaust fumes. Just a suggestion.

I like some of the newer features on these models but my Fs55r is still going strong over 10 years later. Literally found it in my father in laws shed 10 years ago after he passed, fired right up and been going since. This year I threw in a new carb and spark plug since I was dumb and left old gas mix in it and clogged it. $20 on Amazon later and running perfect

I bought the 56 today and wished I stepped up. I went to my local Stihl dealer and they didn't educate me at all on the difference. I already used it so now I am stuck with it. I have a small farm and probably should have gotten the commercial one. But the 56 started 1st pull and did great. Now I know next time to watch these reviews first 😂

56 is good for residential use. As a mechanic, I see the pawls in the rewind starter wear out pretty fast. Aside from that design flaw, they’re ok. I’m more partial to the 91 R myself

I have a FS200 It is a good brushcutter but mine was tempremental that would just stop and wouldn't start again after it ran for 15 minutes It now runs much richer with the fuel and don't have as much problems now after the 5th guy looked at it

If by stihl dealer you mean Ewing Outdoor supply in San Leandro, CA. They weren’t really much of a help. I purchased their last FS 56 today with no user manual because they didn’t have any from what the employee told me. He was going to show me how everything works. Made my purchase and returned an hour later to pick up. The guy that was supposed to show me how to use the FS 56 was gone. A different employee handed me my new purchased item which came with free eye protection glasses and tools. I asked again if it came with a user manual and he pointed to the eye protection instruction pamphlet that is translated in every language and said that the user manual for the FS 56. Service was terrible

Just picked up the FS70r....it came with the easy load head... Bump extend works as expected.....impressive so far, its replacing my 250aud McCulloch that lasted me 12yrs! And yes I have large yard(s) to edge. McCulloch pain to load

Just picked up the 70 from my good buddy halecky at JC small engine stihl shop. And godam this thing is an animal. Absolute animal for the price. 300 bucks it slices through tall thick grass like a butter knife ya pulled out of a forge glowing cherrrry red and then slid through butter. Absolute recommend the 70 over the 56. Quick question for ya. This head is not greasable is it?? I’m not missing a grease fitting somehwere am I?!

My fs 70 is great. The handle however is not. Solid plastic handles suck when you have 2 hrs of work each go. I replaced it with a cheap ryobi soft handle. Maybe something to change in the future

I have the 56RC model...when I bought it I was told I could use a blade on it. I just bought the WoodCut 200-80 blade but haven't installed it yet...can my 56 handle a blade for light use. Thank you for the great video's.

So this is January 2024 right now a FS 70 is 329 the 56 is 199 what's the better deal do they use the same trimmer head now? Not a big fan of the self-assist start but I can get used to it, I still use my old SRM echo I want to replace it with something else

You can with the fs 56 but you would have to convert it,put a fs 91r shaft tube assembly on it ,.mines cut better, can run attachments

My stihl fs 70r is only 2 weeks old and already had to go in for warranty repair I noticed yesterday September 13 gas dripping out of the air filter cover so I took the cover off and the air filter was soaked with gas I took it back to the stihl dealer where I bought it and they said a new carb should fix it machine only 2 weeks old shouldn't have to go in for repair already after I wear this machine out it will be echo or some other commercial grade trimmer for me store where I bought it won't give me a refund no more stihl products for me in the future

Ah, i find the "little bit more power" bit somewhat amusing. Aww, 10% isn't that much, right? Would you like a 10% increase in Salary? I mean, it's "not that much", right? How about you pay 10% more taxes? Point being, 10% is quite a lot imo.

I've got a 56 but it doesn't have the easy start I've had it for a very long time but I do have a question about the fuel tank size on the 70 is it bigger than 56 it how does it compare to the 94 111 131

70 is the same size. The 91,111,131 are much larger. Not sure on the 94, probably about the same

Okay thank you for getting back with me on the weekend didn't expect anything until tomorrow. I've had a blade on my 56 number of times it has not let me down. The stage of Virginia on the side of the highway last time I seen them they were using also the 56's. I also use a Husqvarna I believe it's a 323, on the side note I meant 91 not 94, The Husqvarna seems to be pretty good but he is quite a bit lighter. Yes. You buy a kit from Stihl specifically for that purpose and it should be on a shelf right next to the trimmer. Ace hardware has Stihl tools and the staff can get you setup with the blade assembly and even get you a double warranty (4 years) More power in the 70 to take the blade than the 56. You will be mowing down 4-5 inch trees in no time with a Forrester blade.

They used to sell an easy start fs70. If your 131 pole saw is harder to pull, it may need a valve adjustment.

All these features are just stupid, at least the way they sell them. If you put all the trimmers in the hands of a commercial user they will end up with one of them being a favorite. The funny thing is reading the comments a lot of commercial guys are using the FS 56 probably because it just works, is lighter, and cheaper making the term commercial stupid.

I could go to Walmart at much better price. I'm the hometown small engine guy. I will not work on some brands. At the top of list Sthil 50 dollars flywheel key to fix a 2-dollar part another one with the oil seals out I just put them in the garage. I only respect 2 brands Husqvarna Echo. A lot of years the Sthil brand had nothing in the way of durability. I owned a few Stihls with a lot of disappointment. In !988 I bought a 50 Husqvarna no loose bolts it just ran. Early 80 I had a 028 and a 041 all I did was tighten bolts such a relief. My new Husqvarna and it just ran I was so happy I really needed to cut firewood the only I heated my house. The Walmart brands Stihls or off my list
