Thank you, thank you! You just made this quicker and easier than anyone else ever has. I’m nearly giddy after fighting the dual lines for years. You’re the best!
@getting it done north of 7. -- I am incredibly grateful for this video. After 41 years of life I finally am knowing how to string my trimmer proper. I couldnt be happier. Subscribed my man!
Just wanted to say thank you for this video. My husband passed away unexpectedly last year and I am just starting to get a handle on outdoor chores that he used to take care of. When I went to used the trimmer, it was out of line but I didnt know how to replace it... but I do now! Thank you again for your help!
The dreaded weed eater issues with the line. You just showed how to do it easily though, folks should be able use this as a great guide. Well done Roland.
Thank you for having this, my husband had to be away this week and I had to figure this out on this weedeater myself. Without your help couldn't have done it.
I just got mine a few weeks ago and I love it my friend recommended me this brand I mean I seen it around with landscapers using it. I think it’s mandatory to use sthil if you’re using it professionally as a landscaper because of the quality of this brand. I just bought for home use and I can say it’s the best I enjoy using it. lol 😆
Thank you sir, first time living in a home and needed a weedwackwr because my yard was looking horrible compared to the neighbors. I put it off for so long. You helped me a ton!
@@GettingItDoneRepairs that was the problem when I first bought it. The string wouldn't kick out when I tapped it. Took apart and resting. Seems to work fine now.
See That's how I am always learning how to do new things. I pay attention, just in case I have to do that particular things. Thanks for the video very informational for me. Blessings
I love how to videos, I have a weed wacker. A different brand, but I have a heck of a time putting the string in it. I can't remember which way the string goes because the numbers are all wore off. This helped a lot. :)
Omg thank you so much I was trying to do this for the first time my husband always does our yard work and I am super proud of myself thank you! U explained it so well and it really helped me!
excellent video Roland! I will go look at my line cutter head but normally I use the blade. I can't get close to anything with the blade though like wooden or metal posts because it will try and cut them and something will get damaged :(
Lol, you need 3 hands to respool a weed whaker, don't ya, Roland? Mark hates respooling his, lol. Mine? Too easy, 2 pieces, snap, snap, done. Stihl makes AWESOME Products. Good, informative vid, my friend.
Thumbs up for the hardship you endured, yes stihl are pretty good I just purchased and filled my weedeater with motomix by stihl this weekend, guy at shop says its brilliant stuff for storing over winter guarantees to start up in spring no problem
Thank you, every year when I store mine for winter, all I do is add some fuel stabilizer to the fuel and start it to run it thru the fuel system quickly. Then I remove the fuel from the tank, and start it again and run it dry. That's it! Fires up every spring no problems. I also use premium fuel always.
i love my fs 38 the line part gets people angry about it one thing to mention there is arrows that tell you which way to wind when you put line in hole.
Hi there, I'm thinking about buying one of these and the complaint that I have heard is that the bump knob doesn't work, and the line gets all tangled up. After watching your excellent video, I'm wondering if these folks just didn't know how to refill the line properly. Does the bump knob work ok for you?
Hi there, I have never had an issue with the bump knob yet. My father has the same model and no issues either. Glad you found our channel. If you dont mind, can I ask you to subscribe to our channel? It really helps us smaller channels out and I'd really appreciate it. Also it doesn't cost you anything. Thanks and have a good evening 🙂👍
@@GettingItDoneRepairs Done! And thanks for the speedy reply, I'm planning on purchasing my FS38 today, and was hoping to hear back from you before that :D. Thanks again for your great work.
I am having problems with the line not wanting to come out when bumped. It did for the first couple of years that I had the trimmer, but now the line does not want to come out and I have to pull the spool out and unwind it. Any suggestions.
I've had an fs38 14 years... no problems just maintenance and a spark arrester cleaning once every few seasons.... bam every time, even poor storage....
Maybe when you wind the string on the spool the string is crossing over itself and creating a lock. Take the string off and try again. You will figure it out.
Also make sure the string you are using is the correct diameter for your trimmer. Too big or too small will cause this problem. Also you check the spring under the bump cap. Make sure it's not broke or worn. Good luck!
The head of my fs38 gets very hot and the line melts together and it won't feed out. Does greasing that hidden hole (saw it the last video) keep it from getting too hot?
Mine does same thing, line fuses to each other and wont feed. FS45. Dealer says cause I didn't wrap it tight. Made no difference. Spend more time fooling with the feed than wacking weeds. Think I'm going to get an Echo, zero problems with line feed from the one I once borrowed.
Debra, I too have this same problem. Very confused no matter how tight or loose I wind the cord, it quickly becomes useless as the cord no longer will feed out. I can't even pull it out. Question, did you try your oil idea, and did it work?
