I was running this saw for about 2 hours at about a 30-50% duty cycle ru-vid.comUgkxfQm1wmg0ItKDLavxj1nXtQY9HP7EF504 and it did a great job. I used the lever for the built in sharpener to clear chip buildup out more than to actually sharpen the chain. It managed to cut some hardwood stumps much larger than it's size without bothering the neighbors with hours of 2 stroke noise.
It's probably skip chain; skip clears chips way faster & cuts just as fast on a bar that long. So only half as miserable as you might think it would be... it's still a pain to do by hand though!
@@danl6634 I love hand sharpening. I don't have an 880 though. But after some practice you can sharpen your saw chain quickly and adjust rakers with ease. Maintaining a saw is like dating a super model lol lots of maintenance.
@@andrr7156 same; the 10 minute touch up is always worth the little bit of effort. My Jonsereds 920 super with a 42" bar with skip chain takes about 15-20 to do a thorough touch- up, but if it's really dull the electric bench sharpener comes out. 135 links takes a good while to grind after a day of dropping 3' oak trees.
Antti Lukkari Hahahaha crappy??? I’d love to see a husky or some other brand try to cut it. Psst. Would take soo much longer with any other brand because of power. What do you use???
maine home, in the united kingdom, oak trees have preservation order's on as there royal to the Crown, so if you got one in your front or back yard and you want it gone, then tough lol you would have to move
He is a German. If u want to cut down a tree in Germany u must have to bring some rly good reasons and also have to fill out dozens of documents. At least thats what happened to me, when i wanted to remove a tree.
Philip Polkovnikov Lol a little. Just because I love my sthill ms467, and I know the saw in this video is the big brother to mine. But hey I'm sure it wasn't nothing personal? One more thing, u German? If so do u guys drink grolsch beer in Germany?
Teri and TL Stanbro he kicks it out of the way because if the sawdust blocks the exit, the saw will stall out. Also, it helps to get the saw itself lower to the ground to finish the cut. It is satisfying to do as a bonus though 😊
+Big Island MN Warren Ohio, The Avalon golf course. 175+ year old White Oak. Took nearly a day just to flush the stump from 4' high. Root flares were 6' in length.
Это же сколько столов можно было зделать из этого дерева ,пилять по 50-100мм четыре ножки обработать вскрыть лаком и классные оригинальные столы готовы !!!
I'd say this tree is anywhere between 150 to 250 years old. What is amazing to me is that there is no rot at all. .ussualy oaks have rotten centers from. Maybe a broken branch leaving a place for rain water to sit and over time rot itsbway down to the base of the tree . Awesome for table tops.
Except where he gouged it with the small saw. Probably less than 1/8" but that could have been avoided by turning the big saw upside down and finishing the cut from the top.
Popeye would have punched them into boards and wooden pegs and into a house in one punch! I will say though, Chuck Norris can unscramble eggs, make a slinky go up stairs, and make a polygraph machine tell the truth. A priest, a rabbi, and a minister all walk into a bar. Chuck Norris roundhouse kicks them all in the face because he already knows the joke isn't going to be funny enough.
Ahh, I used to rip 8 foot spruce logs when I heli logged on the coast here in BC. 6 foot bars on 090s or 088s, sometimes 3120 Huskys. Doesn’t take that long to file the chain, sometimes I’d only get two logs ripped in a 12 hour day, it’s a lot of wood to cut through.
Wow! What a beautiful peice of wood! And that saw is crazy! I remember watching storage wars and they found one in a locker. My mind was blown by the size of the saw.
You can call me what you want but in my opinion in our days is almost criminal (if not wholly) to cut down trees of that diameter, at least from native trees (quercus robur & petraea, fagus sylvatica...). We, in Europe, have a lot of red oak (quercus rubra) plantations with a good cuality wood and some with very large diameters. I think this 'cause today is difficult to find logs and snags so large. So it would be better to leave that log to rot for centuries giving more life and shelter to beetles (cerambyx cerdo, lucanus cervus...), mushrooms (ganoderma lucidum, fistulina hepatica...) and other endangered living beings of our few remaining primeval forests
For anyone who is wondering why they are cutting down this oak tree, this oak tree already had its last breath and is a dead tree. Cutting down an old, dead tree in necessary for the younger trees to thrive. Being able to use the oak wood from that dead oak is not only profitable for the wood yard, but it's also better for the environment and not letting the wood go to waste.
@@yamaha188zt that tree looks to be about 72" across and 30' long...2" slab 6' long sounds like between 500 and 1k each...that puts a 6' section at 18k at 500 and 36k at the high end...minus the end cuts or bark I figure 6 ft logs yeild between 15k-30k slabbed...30 gives 5 6' logs so the total tree worth between 75k-150k by my math...plus guys who make furniture look for knots and Burl's as they add a new dimension to grain and stain patterns...I've seen 3' Burl's sell for 3k on a 2' wide tree
I love oak, but boy is it unforgiving compared to something like Birch and Maple. The one I cut down for a friend was a twig compared to this thing and it clogged up my bar when I got into cutting the last bits of it for fire wood. I had the take my bar off, clean it out and then dribble some bar oil into the nose sprocket to get it freed. :)
Slane583 try asking for full skip chain at your dealer. less teeth but a faster cut and it has an easier time getting rid of the chips in side the cutter.
Omar Mendoza: I don't think they have full skip for my saw, it's only an MS251. The chain I was using when cutting is a Stihl Rapid Super though. Much more aggressive than the low kick-back that came on in.
