It’s a beautiful little painting. I love the expressive brushstrokes. Painting in this loose sort of way is, in a sense, more difficult than painting realism, in my opinion. It takes confidence. For me, I had to learn to paint “tight” before I was able to start painting with bold and loose strokes. It’s harder than it looks.

Very helpful video thank you. I’ve been worrying about how to do shadows and this is great. I shall now go and attempt to do this and nice and loose too which I find difficult.
