Description:
In 2014, Kris Kremers & Lisanne Froon disappeared in the Panamanian rainforest.
In 2024, the mysterious cold case is reinvestigated and reassessed.
On April 1, 2014, Dutch tourists Lisanne Froon and Kris Kremers disappeared while on the Pianista Trail. Ten years later, their case has developed into one of the most mysterious true-crime cases, thanks to a constant stream of new clues and theories. Hardly a week goes by without a new podcast or RU-vid documentary being released. While internet detectives argue doggedly over the question of whether an accident or a crime was the cause of the girls’ deaths, journalists keep trying to seize control of the interpretation.
So far, only a handful of people have managed to access the official investigation files, which are considered secret. But they have come to completely different conclusions. A book published in 2021, co-authored by the public prosecutor investigating the case at the time, attempts to reinforce the accident theory, taking a highly selective approach and ignoring unmistakable evidence that points to foul play. In contrast, a true-crime podcast series that has become an international bestseller picks up on an abstruse crime theory that deliberately manipulates its listeners and has been circulating for a long time.
Complete analysis of the investigation files, expeditions into the cloud forest, new witnesses and clues
For the first time, investigative journalists Christian Hardinghaus and Annette Nenner have been able to scientifically analyse the official investigation files and forensic reports and clear up misinformation on both sides. Their meticulous work is also based on five months of intensive research on the ground. Every key witness was re-interviewed in person, and new evidence was collected. Nenner also explored the Panamanian cloud forest by day and night, tracing the paths that Kris and Lisanne might have taken.
Still Lost in Panama tells the story of Kris and Lisanne in more suspense and detail than ever before. The authors sort out the pieces that don't fit in one of the biggest puzzles of our time, and add even more important ones to bring greater clarity to the cold case.
On the tenth anniversary of the Pianista Trail tragedy, this book is a tribute to the relentless search for answers, a memoir of two lives cut short far too soon, and a must-read for anyone interested in true crime and unsolved mysteries.

I live in Boquete, Panama & have followed this case very closely. Just ordered your book via Amazon. I'm not a reader. Can't remember the last time I read a book but this one I will definitely read. Thank you. And yes, I personally believe this was foul play.

@@StillLostinPanama Just spent 3 nights reading your book. So engrossing & compelling. Living here in Boquete, I've followed this case closely. Your meticulous research, naming of sources & 23 pages of footnotes are quite impressive as you've done an incredible job in stating the facts & how you derived those facts. You've dispelled so much hearsay, assumptions, suppositions, rumors, falsehoods, misinformation & sensationalism. You've cleared up lingering questions I've had regarding the sloppy work of other "journalists" & given me so much food for thought. Thank you Christian & Annette for getting the truth out there about many aspects of this case. You tied up so many loose ends! I appreciate the many months Annette spent here persistantly investigating many angles of this case along with the countless interviews she did. I still believe this was foul play but you've changed my mind about several other things. Mucho gracias.

@@Banksy2022 This is feedback that we are very pleased to hear. It was a lot of work, yes. And we still can't let go of the case. We hope to be able to translate the book into Spanish at some point. If you have any ideas or hear anything else that comes from Boquete that could be interesting for further research, please contact us at post@still-lost-in-panama.com

@@StillLostinPanama very glad you tracked down info on the swimming pic. Equally puzzling are the deaths of Ostman & 2 others (drowning, hit & run by a car) who had connections to the case. Missing photo 509 & lack of additional bones (especially skulls) are strong indications adding to my personal belief this involves foul play. Also the fact the girls made no attempt to say goodbye on their phones to their families. I'll email you if I hear of anything interesting here in Boquete. Again, great work, great book!

Impossible that they did not want to take daytime photos after photo 508.....That is to say during more than 2.5 hours of walking between 1:54 p.m. and 4:39 p.m. time of the first SOS call to 112 ( unless they were prevented from doing so!!!!!

No fool play. They get lost cause they dont realize the night fall very soon in tropical area, and maybe thay have been trap with the night and they dont realize that to come back will take hours from they are. And they made a bad decision not to stay no the trail and spend the night there and wait for next morning. Kriss mother said , if they have a problem like 1 girl injured, they would have stayed and wait on the trail. But the problem is that probably none of the girl were injured on that first day. They are late to come back and thay maybe try to call to alert poeple "We are on the trail , we are hours from Mirador and Bokete, but the night is coming". But not possible to get a connection. Then they make the wrong decision, lets try to come back following the trail by night. If we can arrive to Mirador, will be possible to make phone call. But is was too risky to try to take the trail back by night and they probably went in a bad direction. 2 things : . Why there's no more photo from the 508 to the 2 SOS call that they have made 2h30 later. Here maybe we can consider that after photo 508, Lisanne let the camera fall on the ground or in the water. Then imposible to use it anymore , until you let the camera become dry. That is a possibility. And then, it si possible that the night picture have been taken because Lisanne can hear the poeple looking for them . She then decide to try to use the camera that they never use since he fall in water 7 days ago. She try and realise that it works again .Then she use it to try to signal them to the research team. . They are lost from 1st April BUT they start to send resceu team on the trail AFTER MIRADOR , only the 6th of April. They stay 5 days lost and alone. With no equipment, no food or few, no water or river water that might give you diarrhea. No possibility to make fire.
