Thank you, as I'm considering buying this fragrance, but I'm not sure the batch code tip stands up. Fragrances are designed to age as little as possible in their bottles before opening. They're sealed in their boxes and, although I don't know whether it's the case, I have read that the boxes will often contain neutral gas (nitrogen maybe?) to prolong shelf-life. There really aren't that many kinds of reaction that can take place in that context, and maturation through oxidation is not going to be high on any list. There may be some anaerobic reactions going on inside the bottles that are analogous to some of what goes on inside a wine bottle but in that case we'd have to be talking about a wine bottle with a screw top, not a porous cork that lets some air/oxygen in and out. Screw tops are hardly most wine collectors' dream. The fact that it is possible to buy a perfectly kept vintage bottle of perfume only to find that it's off does suggest these scents can and will age under certain circumstances, but the fact that it's also possible to buy a vintage bottle that shows little or no change from the expected smell suggests it is not just a matter of how long a bottle has been on the shelf. It might be, if oxidation were a big issue, but manufacturers ensure that that is not so.
Regarding maturation, I have noticed that when you decant strong fragrances in 7-10ml spray bottles the fragrance will slowly evaporate and will mature sooner and become stronger. It has happened in my experience with fragrances like Tobacco Vanille, Tuscan Leather, and Herod. These fragrances become much more potent and seem like pure oil after some maturation. 🤯
Nice. Yeah I just put some on last night after about a month of not using it and the performance has increased EVEN MORE. This one took a while to mature in the bottle but I'm so glad I kept it all this time instead of selling it
You are so right about the maturation of this! This first weekend of Fall I took my IOG out as it was cool and rainy enough. It was the first time I had sprayed or worn it since, maybe last winter. Darn if it didn't smell stronger than the first bottle I purchased. I love IOG anyway because it smells close to Black Afgano, but I'm not trying to spend nearly $200 for just 30ml. The Gucci has been the closest alternative, with much more juice of course. I have a little bit of Black Afgano juice left, and they now smell more similar than ever. Put it on at 7am, can still be smelled on my skin at 8pm. Must be the maturation. I'm very impressed with this stuff!
I'm glad you have also had a positive experience in that regard. I have had my bottle for about a year now, and it smells so much more concentrated and developed now. I can distinctly smell each note whereas in the beginning, everything just seemed to be jumbled together. Still not what I would call "intense oud", but a phenomenal smell and with great performance nonetheless.
Hi mate. Is the first time when i watch ur chanel. I like it , subacribed. I want to mention that maceration is real. Dont judge frags after the first sprays. Recently it happend to me . Dior sauvage edp made in march 2022. When i spraied it was shit , lasting 30/40 min. I used lik 5% out of 100ml then let it for 2months. Now its a monster lasting 12+ and projecting for 4-5
Absolutely. I had the same experience with Sauvage EDT as well. Leaving the bottles to mature [ideally in a dark and cool area] for several months really does make a difference.
This is so true! it does mature once it has been opened. I have found this with a few Frederick Malle fragrances as well as a couple of Guerlains. My son wears this Gucci Oud fragrance and it is heavenly.
Hello, Greetings from Spain! You have a very beautiful smoke fragrance called hyde, it is from the house of Hiriam Green!! It is mainly leather with notes of cade oil, it gives it a spectacular smoke aroma, it seems like you are coming out of a burning building!!! exquisite fragrance.
Pura obra maestra.
Appreciate hearing your experience and I hope what you say is true about the fragrance maturing over time, because as it stands, I have my doubts and feel like I lit $120 on fire. I finished sampling a 5 ml decant of this stuff. It was extremely potent, lasting an easy 10 hours and it smelled divine. Ended up buying a brand new bottle off a discounter, gift express to be exact. The batch code sticker was the small clear circular one. These seem to be the most recent formulations. Here I got 4 or 5 hours, no fruity nuances whatsoever... it just fell flat right away. The older bottles have a white rectangular batch code sticker and say France on them like you mentioned. I just ordered a used tester with this sticker and will be making a comparison between the recent formulation vs the old. I suppose in the mean time I will hold onto my new bottle and see what happens. Unfortunately I've never owned a fragrance that I didn't care for at the beginning, then magically it opened up months later and transformed into something amazing. Fingers crossed lol I'll try to report back here in case anyone is curious
The raspberry and cherry are very prominent to my nose. This never quite becomes "beast mode", but after a few months of being in a dark closet, the performance and depth of this stuff have really improved
@@mrgoosey1700 keeping it in a dark closet does nothing... Don't listen to any of this nonsense. The new batch hasn't suddenly gotten better or had any of the notes become more prominent. It's the same watered down scent. I wore a good 15 ml of it. Smells the same as day 1. The newer bottles aren't worth half of what you paid for the original formulations.
BA - another fine offering. I find this [2022 version of] Intense Oud definitely isn't overly intense, and maybe even accessible to most collectors of any level
Is there a similar and equal or better fragrance to this one. I love the profile and balance of ingredients, but want something with more performance and is still around
Gucci intense oud smells nearly identical to Issey Miyaki Noir Argent. If you have Noir Argent, you don't need intense oud. Noir is also a lot stronger and has better projection and longevity. I own both and I'm amazed nobody has noted this before. Noir Argent is also cheaper. Btw, where's the Oud in intense oud? I don't smell it a all.
Would be great to obtain a bottle of Noir Argent - impossible to find though. I guarantee you it will not be cheaper than Intense Oud once people start selling it online. The oud is detectable, but it is not ''intense'' to my nose.
To me, there is no controversy regarding this topic. I have an older that I purchased I believe back in 2015-16. I have wearing it year after year and I am very familiar with the composition. I recently purchased a new bottle and unfortunately the new composition is definitely weaker. It has the same great alluring DNA, but just weaker. Good, yes. Intense, no.
Wish I could get my hands on a bottle. I remember the "original" being slightly more powerful but the smell is almost exactly the same to me. I am eager to try my same bottle in 3 years to see how much it has changed. Like I said, not intense but I think this 2022 batch still is remarkably high quality.
@@garysmith8217 you're tempting me to go look for an older bottle. If I can find one at a good price, I would consider buying it and doing a future comparison video between that and the 2022 batch.
@@realscentreview I have been collecting for over 25 years and have over 500+ compositions. Over the years and out of my entire collection, ironically I rank (Gucci brand) the original Gucci Pour Homme I along with Gucci Oud Intense as two of greatest masterpieces that I STILL OWN and would never part with. Those two alone would be all one would need for a Life time signature fall/winter scents. Remember, this is coming from a collector with over 500+ NICHE compositions. What makes them so superior, is that they are simultaneously old school/modern blended masterpieces.
@@garysmith8217 Sounds like an impressive collection. I would like to see a picture sometime, if that isn't too bold a request. I concur with your comments on GPH I - truly remarkable. As far as oft-copied fragrances go, I find nothing else really comes close to this in terms of quality and performance. Greyland by Montale is in the same vein; great in its own right. Hey, speaking of old school - meets - modern, have you tried Russian Leather EDP by Molton Brown? Ever - so - slightly evocative of classic shaving cream, but backed by some incensy pine and clean leather. Astounding. It is one of my favourites but I am hesitant to post a review of it because of the lack of availability in North America. Comme des garcons - Zagorsk and Memo Paris - Russian Leather are somewhat similar to it
Awsome review. I just received a bottle 2022 batch yet to open. I am confused i found 2 completely different note breakdowns. Parfumo has rasberry and fragrantica does not. I am curious if you detect the rasberry even though not listed. Thanks
I love this frag. This is my signature scent since the first day I smelt it and when I heard it was getting discontinued I got 5 bottles. And Yh the OUD is there when compared to other designer frags. Plus they used more OUD than other designer frags hence the “intense”
@@arim850 it’s pretty good. And it’s very hard to find something that smells like it. Something that comes to mind is Gucci voice of the snake. I have a sneaky feeling maybe that’s why they are trying to discontinue this.
Hello. I saw your reviews , thank you! I wanted to ask you if i can have your opinion on comparing gucci intense oud and Chopard black incense malaki. I have black incense malaki and i love it. I love oud based perfumes also the more oriental ones. Its worth getting gucci intense oud or chopard is similar or even better in terms of scent and lasting. Thank you joseph!
Black Incense Malaki is stronger, longer lasting and more oriental than Intense Oud. Intense Oud is all about raspberry, incense and some woods. It's a great scent but not intense. Also only has a hint of an oud smell. Intense Oud is kind of similar to Encre Noire a L'Extreme but it has raspberry instead of vetiver.
Just an aside - I think Black Incense Malaki is probably one of the most intense and challenging designer fragrances on the market. Very few are as challenging and while it might not be a monster performer, the scent itself is more intense than pretty much any designer I've ever smelled.
@@user-eq2pj8cn4v The oud accord in both fragrances is very light and almost nonexsistent; certainly not natural oud. Gucci Intense Oud is kind of an incensy, peppery wood "oud" accord. Nothing challenging - amazing scent. Black Incense Malaki is dominated by a spicy, industrial type leather. Slightly animalic and quite strong, but the oud is just slightly detectable in the drydown. Not an intense oud.
Can anyone tell me, is this perfume reformulated? Because I have this Gucci at home and his batch code is 01/2021 (made in France) . I do not detect raspberry at all. I heard that a lot of people find raspberry in this Gucci. So i suspect he is reformulated.
I don't understand smok in fragrance. However, i was wondering what's your favorite from these ouds you mentioned in your videos: this one, or Swiss Arabian or Portfolio by Al harmain ?
What classic edt are you referring to?? This 2022 Intense Oud smells very good but to my nose, it really isn't that intense. Above average yes, but not beast mode.
Please I wanna blind buy gucci intense oud the batch code you have it's antonio puig espagne or made in france ? How is the performance and longevity please can you help me please?
I mention all of this in the video. When I first bought it, my bottle had been only recently manufactured. It was weak and airy. After almost a year maturing in my closet, the performance has improved immensely - it's almost a different scent.
What utter nonsense! Sillage is excellent 👌 two meters easy & for three hour's. Projection? 9 Hours & still getting compliments. You must be noseblind me Oud China 😉💪😂
