Still Up There | Animated Horror Short Film (2024) 

"Powerless, like a God" Damn. Damn, damn, damn.

Interpretation: This Astronaut was part of a crew trying to stop some sort of eldritch invader from destroying Earth. This thing seemed to take over the Sun, hinted by the “Sun” having a pupil, and the possessed radio singing “You Are Sunshine”. However, despite what the short says, I think it’s implied that somehow, they might’ve actually “hurt” it. Notice the Seagull that appeared, followed by a gunshot. While this could be interpreted as the Entity shooting their ship from the sky, I could also see it as the ship itself being the proverbial bullet that shot the Entity from the sky. Plus, the Earth would probably be a lot more melted/scorched dry if the Entity Won. Whichever’s the case, it seems the Entity latched itself onto the back of the Astronaut’s Brain, whether that be to toy with the Astronaut, or a last ditch effort at survival. Regardless, it seems the two of them are now locked in a duel of willpower over the Astronaut’s dying body. This leaves 3 possibilities: 1. The Astronaut is unknowingly sealing the Entity away. 2. The Entity is trying to find a new host for survival. 3. The Entity is trying to infect the Astronaut. Whichever one’s is correct, the conclusion is the same: by refusing the Entity’s control, the Astronaut has distracted/sealed the Entity, locking the two of them in a Stalemate, having possibly made the ultimate sacrifice for Humanity.

"Powerless, like a god." hits so hard with the realization that he and the eldritch god are both powerless, bound together.

this is really well made I love the lack of clarity on what is literal and real, and what's probably inside his head I allllllso absolutly love how many questions this brings up, and leaves a lot of them unanswered inspires me to write more bc this is the kind of short story i really want to write

Did they actually damage it then? Seems like it may have been using his body to survive with that wheezing we hear when it's revealed.
