You are back and sporting one of the best cars ever, Excellent. As a 3 time owner of MX-5's the design and engineering are right on target with the customers wants. However, if Mazda can integrate the media screen in to the dash the Miata would be beyond superb. Very happy everything went well.🖖

Thanks for the review Chris! Great job as always. I've always respected the Miata, but the last 2 generations have really shot up the desirability charts in my eyes. Really good overview. I'm hoping to pick up my new white GT in June this year (2022). It''s an incredible car for the price, and yes, you have to make some sacrifices when you own a tiny car like this, but it's hard to beat from a design and engineering perspective. On my test test drive by the time I was in third gear I knew I was going to buy it. If you want a light-weight, agile open-top car, there is literally no competition unless you have deep pockets and go for something like a Porsche or BMW drop-top.

Very nice review! I have the 2.0 Sport/Recaro version as a hobby car that is even nicer with the leather alcantara bolstered seats 😀. Improvements? Heated steering wheel (over here every Mazda 3 has it as standard) and Adaptive Cruise Control instead of normal CC. When you daily drive a car with Adaptive CC it is sometimes confusing that the other car has’nt. My previous MX5 2008 was a bit more capable regarding luggage, the ND model is more cramped but drives and handles like a dream!

Question: if I'm using the cup holder where does the passenger put their cup? Also, why no glove box for the passenger? It's as though Mazda feels there shouldn't be a passenger. Might as well take out the passenger seat. It would save more weight. Sorry but the MX-5 ND model is not perfect.
@AutoAcademics
@AutoAcademics 2 года назад
There are actually two cupholders that fit in that space, Robert Hill, but they take up some elbow room when both are installed so we only drove our tester with one. Lack of space is also why there's no glovebox in the traditional location. There is hidden storage behind the seats, though, which we've shown in previous reviews of the Miata. Thanks for watching!
@acchaladka
@acchaladka 3 года назад
Have always wanted to like the mx-5 but have also wanted a more level corner experience, a slightly deeper exhaust, a slightly higher seat, and a little more power. I get the mx-5 ethos, but i thought the turbo Fiat 124 was really pretty perfect except for a few touches in the retro styling. Hope Mazda offers something a bit more souped up next, as the car is not made for much modification.
@AutoAcademics

I had a 2017 Fiat 124 spyder for 4 years, Nothing but problems month after month year after year. I thought since Mazda was making them in Japan it would be a great car but the engine is made in Italy & shipped to the Mazda factory in Japan, Traded the car for a new Mazda which is now more powerful with the new engine & with the Mazda MX5 much, much better quality.

@@robertmiller1442 that's too bad but not totally surprising. We have a Tesla 3 as the family car which is a bit of a lemon, but the company have been crappy to us about the lemon part. I'm tempted by the Mazda partly because of the real / experienced company behind the car, and also to encourage more fun sportscars. But i agree that the 124 really is better for what i want.

Stop trying to ruin a car. The Miata doesn't give a damn about your need for passengers. It's a drivers car, it was made for you to drive and enjoy the drive. It isn't made for carrying kids to school, or getting groceries, or even being useful in any way. It's only here to have fun for the driver.
