Welcome to the Plant Yard
We start the week delivering Allan’s machine to a new job based on a farm near Lancaster, later we load redundant digging buckets to deliver to auction
On Tuesday we’re off to Mid Lothian with a Pad Foot Roller and head up to Aberdeenshire to collect our LiuGong 822 Loading Shovel
After an early start and a very long drive on Wednesday we return the Shovel to our Plant Sales yard near Wigan
It’s a busy day in Manchester on Thursday exchanging a Hitachi ZX250 for a Hitachi ZX225 on a site in the very centre of the City
Later we move Dave’s fantastic Volvo EC380 for our friends at JA Jackson
We end the week moving Paul’s immaculate Hitachi ZX210 to Shaw and return the hire Komat’su excavator to Thomas Plant in Bolton

Great video, as an ex plant mechanic, it’s great seeing all the different plant. I’m not sure if you’ve come across a RU-vidr called “Shaun Thompson”, he runs a low loader and on his last load out of the highland show he got pulled by VOSA, they mentioned they would prefer to see a piece of rubber in between the chains where they cross each other, when securing using the cross chain method. They always have to come out with something 😂

Thank you 🙏 Yes, I saw the episode Most of us here are have CPCS Operators cards, all of us are ‘STGO Loader/Securer’ trained and regularly assessed, with a constant dialogue with the DVSA about the latest safety requirements We have had not one word about wear pads on chains. One of the lads was in Cuerden (where Shaun was) last week, thankfully he left with a clean bill of health and no comment about his crossed chains When or If wear pads become a legal requirement we’ll use them, until then we’ll continue just as safely as we’ve always done 🤙

No the buckets are only redundant because they were for some of our much older machines, we’ve put them up for auction because they’re still fairly valuable 🤟

Hi,new subscriber on one of You're last videos you. were commenting on some of these so called hgv drivers, yes you hit the nail bang on the head,they see themselves as better than anyone else,all they do is criticise and ridicule drivers maybe having a bad day reversing, my late father was a lorry driver or motor driver as he put it,all roping and sheeting no curtains or containers Albion,Sçammels Erf and the like,his lorry was immaculate he smoked like a chimney but didn't smoke in his lorry, sorry for going on love you're attitude and work ethic and you're advice to new drivers please keep them coming regards from Scotland 🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🚛📹

Hi there, thank you for your comment and subscribing You’re right, there is an element in the Transport world that think they’re better than everyone else, unfortunately it was ever thus It’s the way your late father and many others, hopefully including myself behave that makes the difference… I hope I can reassure you that I deal with a number of young people who work incredibly hard and take their responsibilities seriously, some of them like shows, many don’t (unless it’s Taylor Swift) My message really, is to appreciate the Industry warts n’all not just to enjoy the easy bits because when you do you’ll become more comfortable operating within it… Take care, thanks again for your message 🤙

It was but we had three of us, Keith Al the Op, John in the pick up with the steel plates and me , we scoped the job and squared it all away with the Land Owner before we started so there was about 30 minutes planning to make that run smoothly It would be great to get that on film but I just can’t , I think I was more concerned about low trees more than anything else🤟

Thank you That’s exactly it, we mainly move our own equipment that we use ourselves or supply to other people around the North West We’re really Plant Operators driving lorries rather than Truckers operating plant it’s a small but important distinction 🤟

Thank you Colin The Ops like the CX130’s and they tend to go out on accompanied hires, personally I think they’re a bit big and heavy for a 13 tonner as are the Volvo’s in my opinion but that’s a Low-Loader driver’s point of view… I saw the ND Scania out recently, very impressed 🤙

Love the videos, got a question, what are the red and green lights on the excavators for? from the US and we have just amber lights on the cabs

Thank you, If you look again they should be amber and green, Amber is the same for you in the States Green is an indicator that the Op is belted in and ready to work (so others will try to catch the Ops eye and get the thumbs up so it’s safe to be in proximity of the machine) There is also often a four point blue strobe style light which will indicate on the ground the safe working area of the machine (often required for road paving jobs) I hope this helps 🤟

@Dear Alex Wignall. I am currently considering obtaining my HGV (Heavy Goods Vehicle) licence and would appreciate your advice on this matter. I have spoken to several drivers who are already in the industry and have received mixed feedback regarding the value and benefits of pursuing this qualification. Some have suggested that it is not worth the effort and investment. Given your experience and insight, I would greatly appreciate your perspective on whether obtaining an HGV licence is a worthwhile endeavour. Any guidance or information you could provide would be incredibly helpful in making an informed decision. Thank you for your time and assistance.

Hi there, I got into the Industry because I went with a friend who owned his own truck (it was more common in those days) I would recommend that you contacted a company in your area to see if they would give you an insight into the Industry (any worthwhile potential employer would jump at the chance) It might not be the job for you but once you’ve got that license in your back pocket you’ll never be out of a job again Everyone’s experience of the Industry is different, mine has been wonderful but for you, well it’s up to you…🤟
