Hare Krishna! Please accept my humble obeisances in the dust of Your lotus feet, dear Srila Gurudeva! All glories to Srila Prabhupada! Thank You for this deeply sobering and inspiring lecture. It turns out that upon reaching the stage of liberation, the great sage Narada Muni began to play the glory of the Lord on the veena not by the wave of a magic wand, but after achieving liberation he studied hard for a long time. Narada Muni learned to play the veena from Uluka for a thousand celestial years. (Linga-Purana Uttara-Bhagya 3.67-77), he became an expert in playing the veena and other instruments, he learned thousands of different melodies and 36 thousand different notes After this, he performed kirtan on Svetadvipa for the Lord, but the Lord said that he never reached the level of a musician in Tumburu (76-79). And when the Lord came as Sri Krishna to this planet, at the request of the Lord, Jambavati taught Narada Muni to play the Veena for a year. After this, on the recommendation of Lord Narada Muni, he studied singing for a year from the wife of Lord Satyabhama. And after that the Lord directed Narada Muni to Rukmini Devi, the chief wife of the Lord, to test his patience. Rukmini devi told Narada (3.102): “Even though you have been chanting for a long time, you still do not understand the notes properly.” And Narada Muni did not give up, with great determination he studied with Rukmini devi for three years, after which Lord Krishna Himself taught him the art of devotional music. It was only after this that he was finally able to surpass Tumbura, and when this happened he danced in ecstasy. After this, Narada Muni began to travel throughout creation, singing the glories of the Lord. Thank You, dear Srila Gurudeva, for this interesting and important lecture for us, which puts us in a serious mood, teaches us patience and gives us many important lessons! All glories to the great sage Srila Narada Muni, the transcendental singer of the glories of the Supreme Lord! May we, like him, sing and glorify the glory of the Supreme Lord constantly!
