This is true, but what does the average American do other than move to Canada and file for citizenship? I have considered doing this at various times in my life, but now at 62 I don't have the energy to do that. But, yes Canada is better in so many ways.

@@reyalexandro No, that is not what I mean. There are people not working for months now. They cannot get a job or go back to their previous job. In the meantime, like Canada does, give a monthly check to get by with until this pandemic is over and the economy gets better. The US doing increments payments is not enough to keep the economy going. The $1,200, &600, &1,400 checks are just a drop in the bucket. With most people once they get that money, it’s gone in a minute which it does not contribute to economic growth. Help people along until they are fully on their feet. People are hurting through no fault of their own.

Lots of people are in a bad spot and definitely will need to spend this stimulus to catch up, but I've been working the entire time thankfully and will be saving/investing mine.

Waaaaaa! We make too much and our tenants are so far behind in their rent. We can’t evict due to covid, I’d rather be able to evict and get new people in who will be on time with rent. Our kids are late 30’s... can it be retroactive? Lol

This is true and also for another reason other than just needing it right now. Republicans, because of the statistics surrounding the Cares Act payments of $1,200, where it was determined that many people were doing just that, saving the money rather than spending it, have been trying to use that as a justification for not sending any more stimulus. Their argument says that if a large percentage of people are saving the stimulus, rather than spending it on essentials, or spending it on non-essential items, we don't need more stimulus. What they fail to realize, or just don't want to realize, is that if there is any money remaining after paying for essentials, people are saving it because they have no idea if future help is coming from our government. Thus far, Congress has actually done very little in the way of direct payments to those who need them. We need regular, monthly stimulus payments until this pandemic is over or the economy returns to where it was before the pandemic. They seem to think that just sending people back to work will fix everything. What sending everyone back to work will accomplish, if there is work to be sent back to, is enable families to pay their present bills, but will do nothing to replace lost savings, pay maxed-out credit card bills, past due bills, rent, and mortgage payments. I believe these politicians are either brain dead or believe that we are.

I believe so. I'm 47 and on SSI . My sister used to claim me on her taxes so I never got any stimulus. This one supposedly everyone's getting it.

I think what she’s saying is that buy what you need and not what you want because from last year stimulus checks, people were buying unnecessary things instead of saving it and we’re not even sure if theirs going to be another stimulus bill anytime soon so it’s better to just save it just in case
