How do I know how much stinging nettle I need? I mean to replace the Armour Thyroid I am on?
@RainCountryHomestead
@RainCountryHomestead 5 лет назад
@@designsbydawn976 I would recommend asking your doctor about desiccated pig or bovine thyroid replacement. It is a true natural replacement without the side effects of the synthetic versions. If you do not have a thyroid, you have to have it in some form but a sluggish thyroid can heal itself.
@RainCountryHomestead
@RainCountryHomestead 5 лет назад
@@GreatGrannyFreeBird You cannot use it as an outright replacement, if you still have your thyroid, then it is about healing it so it can produce properly on its own. Nettle is just one of hte many ways to do that. I recommend checking out the video I linked here for more on what we did to remove ourselves from the big pharma medications

I took some stinging nettle tea into work with me...our nurse was having allergy problems and I gave her some. .not really thinking it would help with just the little bit I gave her. Later that day she asked what it was. I took her in some more yesterday morning. Now I have two nurses from work that know our "weeds" can be better than their meds😂

I make an infusion of dried stinging nettle and drink it everyday. Good for so many things! One ounce of dried nettle in a mason jar, add boiling water, seal it and let it sit for at least 4 hours. Strain out the herb. I love it chilled because it has a great green taste. Thanks for your video👍

Just freeze dried my first ever batch. I tested eating some - it reminded me of something that I have had before. I made tea with it - the smell and the taste - and then it hit me. It tasted like sushi seaweed! I love seaweed! So I'm really happy with the nettles and I'll be collecting more and perhaps have a nettle omelette tomorrow. Thank you.

Also took care of the thyroid problem, the sinus problems and made my bladder stronger by helping the kidneys function better. I live where there is some pollution and dust, I rinse it with vinegar water. ~ I use it in soups it is really good, love it. I also steep it overnight, putting a knife into the jar as I pour in the boiling water, to keep the jar from breaking...then drink it the next day. I was so happy to learn that dehydrating it and giving it to my two chickens is something I can do..they are fussy and won't eat it raw, but dehydrating it and putting it into their food, great idea. Thank you. Where I live, Central California, it only grows in the colder weather...I am anxiously waiting for it to grow here. I harvest Lambs Quarter in the summer. Great job getting off all pharmaceuticals, I am also off all meds, I am 77. The only thing I cannot stop using is eye drops for a rare glaucoma. ;)

I make a very tasty Nettle Soup. Per person, I simmer about ½ cups - Nettle leaves just covered with water and a ½ tsp. Onion powder. Once the nettles are tender, I add a tablespoon White Miso, (or a bit less) and some Coconut Cream and blend it smooth with my Stick Mixer. if you prefer you can thicken the soup slightly, but I don't bother. Quickly done and so delicious, much nicer than Spinach. I live in Sub-tropical Queensland, my Spinach grows in my garden summer and winter.

I harvested some recently. Made a tasty tea from fresh leaves! And I kept a good few of the stems to strip the strong fibers off the outside. Thankyou for such a comprehensive explanation...really good. I love your use of nettles as a security measure...good thinking!😁l try to have no green waste leave the property...but what to do with rose cuttings??...l lay them along the fenceline, to deter the dogs from being tempted to tunnel under, and to deter rabbits from coming in. In my last house, in suburbia, the rose cuttings went down into the back corner, between the shed and the fence... because we had suspected the neighbours' teens of entering via that way. Destruction in my veg patch mysteriously ceased!😏l like the way you explain WHAT you do, and WHY you do it that way...very good teaching!!😊 And yeah, l SO understand writing things down and STILL forgetting! 😁 That's just normal, to me! Love to you, from Bev in Australia....God bless you, heaps! ♥️🦘

Good info on SN. I have a secret patch near a golf course where SN grow 6 feet tall. I harvest some when they are 2Feet tall, sun-dry them and powder them in a blender. When the stems are dry, I grind them up as well. In a Ziplog bag they keep for a long time. We use them in smoothies, tea and almost everything made in the kitchen. At age 84 I have no symptoms of arthritis. I will also look into replacing my Sinthroyd pills with SN and use the rhysomes.

Hi I had heard about hitting yourself with nettles some years ago so I tried it on my hands as I have a lot of pain in them . The result was my hands stung for days so I didn't feel the original pain. I haven't done it again. Ha ha. My kids thought I was crazy. I love your Chanel I have sewn for over 50 years we have an allotment which is a peace of land rented off the council so we grow most of our veg and fruit. I have got a couple of the herb books you recommend as presents and want to grow more herbs for medicinal uses and I love being frugal and hate waste. All being said we have had to be like this through necessity and have enjoyed it. I would love to see some more of your sewing videos and chats. Take care and thank you . I live in the UK by the way.

I have had a couple of times where I too carelessly grabbed some of the nettle and stung myself bad enough that I felt it for a couple of days and that surprised me as I had not before stung myself like that! I am learning a new respect for some of it but still handle it with bare hands on occasion. haha

Brilliant video thankyou. My mum is desperate to get off her thyroid meds. I appreciate you may not be comfortable with advising us with specific advice. But if you could please point us in the right direction we would be eternally grateful x

Hello Mrs. Raincountry, When I watched your video, I thought it was very interesting. Can it grow in the heat? I live in Phoenix, Az. Thank you so much for showing us this video. GOD BLESS YOU BOTH.😇😇😇

Can you say "magnesium" again? Your experience and knowledge reflects all of mine in every aspect. I have developed a steamed wild green smoothie that is all I need for nutrition some days. I walk the meadow and let spirit guide my eyes. And it changes by season but the nettles and comfrey are in from April until November. Thanks for getting the info out there. Bless you both.

lol I crawled thru a huge patch under a trailer house to retrieve a bunny that got loose wearing a tank top and shorts on a very hot day, pours were definiatelty open to all.. Yea I tingled for about 4 days lol but I caught the bunny! If you rub some dry dirt on it that will absorb the oils and take the sting away almost instantly but I was coated and my hands were full.

Lots of nettles there. I boil mine to make nettle tea and green veg from what's left. I cut out the stalks and put those in the compost bin. I even made a video doing this about 3 years ago. Always feel good after consuming them :)

This is also an old video. I use them more now in teas and in cooking than I did back then: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XSE_4zztuAk.html

Thank you soooo much for this video, Heidi. This will be my first year harvesting stinging nettles and your video came just in time. We're up/over here in Northeastern Washington north of Spokane and have quite a patch of it growing next to a small creek that runs through another property of ours up near the border with Idaho. This information about the health benefits of stinging nettles is pertinent to both my husband's and my health and the medications we're presently taking. I'm so looking forward to my first harvest and finally using them in our daily lives. Wish I'd learned about their benefits years ago, for then I wouldn't have burned the heck out of my hands pulling a huge patch of them from my back yard with my bare hands while believing they were 'just weeds.' :-\ :-( One question: you mentioned that the seeds are also nutritious, so how would we prepare them for consumption? Thanks again. Many Blessings! :-D

I have personally never consumed the seeds myself so have not looked into it but I plan on trying them this year if I remember to grab some. I would just try them right off the plant, as that is my way, BUT it would be wise to look into it first. By the way, I grew up in Wenatchee, still several hours away from where you are at but much more similar in climate to you than where I am now. It is amazing how you cross over that mountain range and it is almost like entering a different country! haha

I've known I have a big patch of nettles beside my creek for a few years, but I've been too chicken to fool with them. Maybe soon I will. Thank you!

Thanks for the video! My wife was able to get off thryroid medication after consuming sea weed regularly which provided enough iodine to help regulate her thyroid. I never knew that stinging nettle can help with this. Thanks again!
