Going to try this for the armour on my chaos wardogs ! I got a set of "stipple" brushes i came across made by humbrol,they are quite stiff flat brushes though?

If you have dedicated brushes, even better! You'll find that they are perfect for it, and will last a bunch longer. Don't be silly like me and ruin nice brushes 😂

That's well and all, but I mostly see tutorials show the technique on wide areas and large dots. I tried to apply it tonight, only to realize quickly I don't have nearly as much room on the miniature...

You can use small brushes for it

Yeah it's much easier to do (and to show/film!) on a large surface, but you're 100% right minis rarely have that much room. As the other reply said, smaller brushes will help, and smaller dots. The good thing about this technique is that it can be done quick and roughly, as a time saver, or verrrrry slowly and precisely for top tier results. David Colwell (an Australian display painter) is a true master of it, check out his insta for some inspiration!
