They essentially act like sea flavoring to the dishes since most rocks/pebbles used for cooking are from the sea, rivers, and or oceans. This also applied to big rock salts where you could guess what it is used for. Those food are considered as famine food since they are mostly foraged in the wild and used in times of severe shortage of food for the poor who cannot afford meals. Lobsters, oysters, scrapped fish parts, scorpions, seaweed, and spiders are considered famine food, which nowadays, are a delicacy and are now more expensive.
