I really enjoy the shave it gives. Modern razors try to fool us into believing new is better but that’s not always the case. Thanks for watching Scott!
If memory serves me correctly, Strop Shoppe was the artisan, and Baker Street was the scent. While Strop Shoppe was in the process of going out of business, they sold that scent recipe to Stirling. I just picked up that scent myself and I really like it. Great shave Matthew!
Interesting razor. All I can say is that razor makes me appreciate my Rockwell 6S even more 😉 I recall my Dad had a safety razor that could be sharpened. It was placed in a case with a sharpening stone. That had to be over 50 years ago. Thank goodness razor blades are a "dime a dozen" these days.
Since most of us are hobbyists the extra work becomes fun and not a monotonous task. Or maybe that just what I tell myself. 😀 Thanks for watching Bart!
Very nice razor and shave! Stirling is always top notch. You can also get Feather SE blades that will work without having to be modified. I am not a big fan of Feathers though. Keep up the shaves!! Happy shaves to ya..
I actually have a few of those feather blades but haven’t got around to trying them out. I got a deal on this razor a couple years ago. It had the case, strop was new still in the paper. Thanks for watching fuzzy!
Hi. Nice shave. I haven't tried this razor but I love gem razors. I believe they use the same blade. I like these thicker blades. Like you're saying smooth and efficient. Have a good rest of your weekend
@@lawrence1md Agreed, the de-spined GEM blades are better than the Feather FHS10 blades that fit the Autostrop razors as well as the ONEBLADE razor. The Feather FHS10 blades are the only modern blade option for the later Autostrops with the doors (Model's VB2, VC2, VC3 and VC4) because they have the cutouts for the proprietary pin arrangements since they don't have the friction plate to slide the blade in.
@@lawrence1md I think that was discussed on TOST3. CVS discontinued the SE blades and I haven't seen them at the local CVS. I've bought them by the 100's anyway so no big deal. A lot cheaper that way too.
Always great to see a fellow flattop wearer. Not many of us out there these days. Keep making these vids. I have never shaved with anything but a disposable razor. What kind of real razor should I start off with? Thanks.
There are so many choices of razors and it’s a personal preference on what shave you like. I will send you a couple suggestions in the email you sent me. Thanks for watching!
Ive got one , cant tell you which one as its a bit of minefield! There are so many models. Ive got the one like yours where you slide the blade in position. Not easy , i would prefer the clip on version. But hey ho. For there age they are a brilliant design. Got mine for£10 in UK.
I can hear the inventors of this razor saying “Gillette’s design is too simple, let’s make something complicated and challenging to use and see if guys will buy it” 🙈😜😂
Gillette and Auto Strop merged at some point. The valets were built by Gillette I believe. There is a very interesting story behind all of that. At some time Japan built a model. That is where the Feather blade comes into play.
