@@lsubmissionnl5895 I don't know what you're saying. My point was that between 2011 and 2020, the base model Corvette was below the Mustang GT's level of performance, and the comment of "they're supposed to win" is kind of ignorant regarding a drag race.
You know Its not that old auto but you are a good sport for sharing. It’s all about having fun. we win some we lose some, but we’re always smiling. I would like to see a 10 speed Mustang against that because the 10 speed is no joke.
I was heavily interested in getting a C6 or a C5Z, before I decided on a coyote Mustang. I'm a big guy at 6'5 so the Z06 with the firewall against the seat is no good for me lol. The C6 is quick but no where near what the C5Z can do, but there's more room and I'm still somewhat regretting not getting one. The sleekness of the body is great and I just love the taillights. The Mustang was a good deal though, low miles, nice mods. Its about 450whp I believe (intake exhaust, driveshaft +Lund tune) maybe closer to 430 though. Need to Dyno. Absolutely nothing beats the sound of a cammed LS, so I still might get one LoL
@Fōx LéFaux nice man, I had a 08 Pulley Swapped GT500 before my C6 so I'm a fan of Mustangs too. Curious tho, how do you figure the C5Z can "do more" than an LS3 C6 tho? Base LS3 makes more power stock for stock, has more upgrade potential, and a good bit more displacement to work with.
@@justuscapes multiple reasons. The C5Z is a hardtop so it's a better chassis. The Ls6 revs higher than the LS3 and has a higher top speed. Horsepower isn't everything. Stock for stock, the C5Z has a higher trap speed and quicker ET's in drag races. Obviously, most of that can be changed, and for drag racing the C6 clearly wins when you upgrade it. In regard to racing in other ways, the Z06 is a better choice. It's an extremely fast track car. I had a hard time deciding because if I was going to go with a C6 I would have wanted a Grand Sport and they're kinda pricey for a used car.
I agree on the GS. That's what I wanted but people are asking $15-20k more than what I paid for mine. I paid $17k for a JSB LS3. Mine is full bolt on and made 430rwhp. So, for what it is and the price I paid, it'd be hard to find a quicker car. Aside from maybe a turbo Civic that breaks down every other month lol. I don't have to worry about mine grenading and can start it up any given Tuesday lol
Not the same class of automobile, a corvette is a cheap American supercar equivalent to a Ferrari depending on the model a Z06 and up, now considering the C8 is mid-engine it is a supercar and always been, compare a Mustang with a Camaro, compare a Corvette is a FORD GT.
@@devonfaulds7299 wtf u talking about 😂 10r80 Mustangs already walk C6’s from a roll stock and some even hang with C7’s. The Corvette is obviously meant to be the superior car but when it comes to modding budget wise, Mustangs are still superior
My c6 z51 with a manual shifts faster than that auto….just saying not sure it’s “that auto “ it’s the 3200lbs weight of the vette as your partner mentioned!
@@jdunn938 my first vett was a manual my new one is a auto. It's personal preference to me the auto doesn't feel any slower and way less annoying in traffic
The Vette is using a paddler shifter in his automatic. 2 and third gear will go on forever! Plus the Vette doesn't even have the active exhaust so you got ate, bro! LOL. Like the video !!
I remember when the 6 speed auto came out everyone was still telling me to go for the manual. Too many people call themselves driving "purists" as a way to make themselves feel better when they lose to an auto or something. High stall torque converter compared to a 6m will have a much more consistent time.
What gear did you start your 50 rolls in? 2nd? It looks like your friend in the black car started in 1st gear, but that's just my observation based on how quick he had to shift compared to you. If you have a base with the 3.55 gears, the tall transmission gearing allows you to start in 1st gear on 40/50 rolls. You can even do this in the performance pack car with 3.73s. 60 rolls are also possible, but the shift is literally immediate, so it is kind of a crappy roll for the car. Once tuned, and you have more RPM to play with, a 60 isn't a problem from first. If you haven't done a 40/50 from first, I highly suggest it, it's a night and day difference.
Ford gives you a 5.0 with 25% of its potential. After i went witj a simple FBO kit and a PBD tune my ten speed could walk a vette queen back to the chevy dealership. My current setup murders c7z06 vettes and i already gapped one of those off brand ferrari c8 things.
C6 auto is not like the 10 speed chevy/ford have or c8 tranny where the c8 is a clear advantage over manuals. . They don’t give any advantage unless it’s modified. Either the mustang is insanely slower than I thought or its a driver problem.
On the Corvette forums everyone posted there 1/4 times over the years the auto is right up there with the manual. The auto Corvette is garbage argument is from lack of knowledge
Nah… it’s not the automatic! I also have the same vette.. that’s 6.2 litre v8.. versus 5.0.. who you think is gonna win? The vette does has paddle shifters, ask him next time to use them instead if you think it’s the manual shifting…
I have a mustang and love mustangs, but it's not the auto. The c series is built and sold at the level of the zxx and gt500s. as Chevy's alternative competition for FUCKING LAMBOS!!! A GT could never. It's not the auto. It's that you're racing a car from a different tax bracket and expecting to keep up. It's not going to happen. You have a beautiful car that's a ton of fun. Just love your car for your car. If you must have something that fast, go ahead and grab a c5/c6, but be ready for maintenance bills.
You need to be at a higher rpm before the hit, and your shifts need some work. At 4k rpms where you are at, the coyote is still not a peak power. Drop it down another gear.
You need to start in 2, that top of second is whats gonna put you out front on the hit, the shift into 3rd is all you, and youll pull on c6s. but i also broke my shifter fork lol still these cars are fast af once you learn the mt82 we need an update race now youve had the car awhile!
current modern automatics are fast af. that c6 corvettes auto is garbage compared to the manual version. manual version would rip way harder with a decent driver. auto's didnt really overtake manual till very recently. still wouldnt take an auto over a manual even on your car. way more fun banging gears
idk about that pimp, my automatic 2011 C6 ls3 is stock and puts down 12.3 quarter miles at the track, i know a guy whos got a stick c6 with headers n intake that also puts down 12.3, same exact time but im stock lmao you better be a pro ass driver if you make a statement like that
Put a tune on that c6 and you can make the auto shift faster. Also the main thing that made automatics slower than manuals was the gearing. You get the right stall and gear it right and automatics are hard to beat.
To many clowns dissing automatics, until they get gapped by one. Manual drivers are always prone to missing a gear are either they just don’t know how to shift a manual properly anyway. Maybe if robots drove cars (manual vs automatic) instead of humans manual drivers would have a better argument to say manual are always faster, but these manual drivers, who think they know more than the designers and engineers of these cars usually are talking out of their azz
You didn't know LS3 isn't nothing to play with you are going to learn today and it's more areo dynamic and lighter than you! Then you're missing gears makes it even easier sir. And don't just throw long tube headers on the freaking car without cold air intake and a tune 🤔 the mustang comes from the factory with headers at least they usta do your research sir !
