One tenth of a second to 60 isn’t to noticeable. But after that I think the extra power really helps. I get my ZR1 next six weeks. Soooo excited.

Thanks for putting this video together. A lot of very clean runs which is hard to get both cars to start at nearly the exact same time, but you all did a good job! It’s harder than it looks. You’re also very humble about your car, that thing pulls a stock Z06 hard and this is coming from a Z06 owner. It’s very clear though, pulls like it has more than just 105 more hp. It’d be great to get an actual weight of your ZR1 as it seems hard to find an actual true curb weight of one.

Also, if you're just in sport mode with all your traction controls kicking in, both cars will be similar in the first few gears, because the cars computers are reducing power to prevent wheel spin. Both cars are reducing to a similar power level. Once the speeds increase then the ZR1 begins to walk as it allows more power to the wheels. Power that the Z06 doesn't have. If you enabled track mode and set performance traction management to "Race", it would put a lot more power down, even in the first few gears, although you may have to pedal it a bit. Anyway that's what I found with my ZR1. Enjoyed the video as always Chuck...Thanks....

Thanks for doing the A8 vs. A8 comparison. This clearly highlights the difference you get for the extra hp and torque in the ZR1. It's still walking away from the Z06, but it's more of a smooth pull away than it was vs. the M7. I'd like to see your ZR1 vs. a McLaren 720S now. The 720 will almost certainly still win, but I think it will be a closer race than we saw on Drag Times where that ZR1 was either heat-soaked or in < 500 limp mode, since its performance vs. everything else looked more like a Z06.

The ZR1 acts totally different in Manual mode as you saw. Those races on Drag Times they are using auto and the ZR1 delays too much when you floor it. A ZR1 with a smaller wing and using paddles will give the 720 a better race than we you seen on his video.

A 720s would smoke a ZR1, probably close to 1000 lbs lighter.

J. Spencer No argument there. I said the 720S would "almost certainly still win" (in a drag race) but my point was more that there seems to have been something wrong with the ZR1 in the Drag Times videos, or it was pulling power because it was under 500 miles. It was getting matched or beaten by cars that are comparable to a Z06 in acceleration, not just the 720S.

I’m 18 I own a Z51 Stingray and am hoping to trade up to a C7 Z06 hard top next year sometime when prices start falling and I. wait to get mine! That ZR1 is a dream of mine though, but I love my current C7 and can’t wait to get a Z06 with even more grunt👊

Great video. I would have liked to see both cars in performance shift mode. Maybe have the Z06 in performance shift mode and the ZR1 in straight auto from a 40 roll. My Z06 in performance shift mode makes a big difference roll racing. Alot of C7 owners are not aware of this mode? Thanks again for a great video.

If you activate performace shift mode in the ZR1 while in auto it will snap your power on just as fast as manual but your shifts will be faster it's the best way to run them pull racing.

Yep just what I thought, a lot closer race than the stick, but knew that ZR1 would win with the additional horsepower and torque. Why else would Chevrolet make the ZR1 in the first place. Thanks for sharing your day of adventures with us.

Thanks for watching. The ZR1 was made for the track. That’s where it has total dominance over the Z06. It was 3 seconds faster at VIR. We also didn’t do very long pulls where the ZR1 dominates after that 3rd gear. Both are amazing Corvettes and a great value compared to other cars with those specs.

Chuck Alao check the attack angle of your rear wing. If it's set in attack its slowing you down alot above 100 as well.

Theres a slight delay from the flick of the paddle to the actual tranny shift. Does this bother you? I have a 17 Grand Sport with the A8 and experience the same thing. Doesn't bother me one bit, but I hear a lotta folks complain about it. Your thoughts?

I’d like to see a Internet reality show with you and cgarnerspeed or even Better have it on Velocity 😎, there are a few more I’m sure you know them all and as much as I like watching their Vlogs and some play to the younger crowds, I understand that...but they could clean up their speech a little... Obviously the ZR1 will pull away with more torque, but both cars are amazing, no doubt. This was a great comparison video, since most people usually race modded cars instead of stock for stock. Oh and man... the big wang on that ZR1 is just so badass.

Chris Vise I was able to test drive both and to me that’s the only way to really decide. The salesman knew I was a serious buyer and also it was a HUGE corvette dealership so had older cars that had test miles and not “brand spanking new”. Auto faster overall and shifts lightning fast WHEN it shifts itself, paddles definitely a delay and if you have ever driven a DCT it’s a clear difference. Paddles are better when driving the car hard but still a slight delay. Some people don’t mind working around it because the actual shift itself is very fast. M7 is what I chose as there just nothing like a manual in my opinion and the A8 is not DCT quality. Manual in these are very nice smooth and clutch isn’t super heavy and has a good weight to it. I love the zr1! 💖 That thing is a beast and are!! But to me the price difference isn't worth it. You can get a used z06 for around 50 to 60k spend a few grand and you can make it just as fast if not faster than the zr1. Used zr1s since they only made a handful of them compared to the z06 are still going for around the 120k mark easily like I said that's used!

Great video as usual chuck! Will you be doing a cost of ownership video at anytime for the transport at anypoint? I do understand the privacy component involved so omission of personal finance material i.e. monthly payment and insurance is understandable - but maintenance fees, tire costs, fuel costs, etc?
