I took my leveled 4x4 with elocker 2012 5.0 F150 out to Glamis with a group of Raptors. I was one worn out 35x12.5x18 Toyos at like 15 psi. Never got stuck. Never used the elocker. I also went up Telescope Peak in Death Valley up like 8000+ft in the winter on an icy trail. These trucks do great offroad.

People tend to forget the raptor was built for the baja 1000 . The most grueling off-road race in the world and it took 3rd !!! Compared to 200k trophy trucks . And everything from the frame in for this model year is the same hell the cv axles aren't even beefed up just lengthened. Compared to what trucks used to be capable of they handle allot . I took mine up to 75 in the pasture in the dead of winter -15 with track control off wheel going 360 everywhere just let her cruise felt it out gave her some juice when she needed it didn't have an issue . And yes there were some jumps lol oh and to anyone talking shit . Mine was slammed into a wall on 169 at highway speeds and she's still cruzin . Twisted the whole driver side suspension up a bit frame still fine fixed it and she's back on the road these trucks will be highly sought after when we get older. Especially with the coyote. Hell I remember hitting a curb at 35 threw the whole front end 4 ft In air . Not a damn thing was wrong . Which was surprising as hell trust me I know sounds asanine but hell it didn't even put a knot in the tire.

I’ve a ‘12 F150 5.0 4wd and it has impressed me in every way! 183,000 and only one breakdown when fuel pump went out. I keep her stock with Mickey Thompsons (super perfect for long wear and traction in all weather) and general upkeep / maintenance. Great video, thanks!

That was great and informative. I bought a used 14 f150 supercrew stock and was curious to know how stock handles. I have a SxS and maybe can take it deeper off road by looking at your video with more confidence. Definitely not getting crazy off road with it, but great to see capability. Thank you.

Regarding not spinning your tires... I would add a caveat that electronic traction control sometimes takes time to figure out what it needs to do while your wheels spin. I used to have the same gen F150 but didn't do much wheelin in it. I've been doing more in my 13th gen and it has been great. I'd love a bit more ground clearance but otherwise she's pulled me through better than I expected.

Fun to watch, I have a factory long bed Ford that I want to get dirty. Might find some trails near me, maybe on a dry day.
@Tb0n3
@Tb0n3 3 года назад
Why dry? The only thing you really have to worry about is getting water up into the intake and that's at the top of the hood. Just be careful not to plow through puddles. Mud washes off. The only complaint about mud I have is riding my motorcycle through deep stuff and getting coated.

1- you make it flex as if you had lockers 2- you are lucky you didn’t break that leaf spring jacking from there

Since it has advancetrack: i heard you should instead keep (gently) on the gas pedal to let the traction control do it's brake diff lock job. Any tought?
@4x2WagonFamily
@4x2WagonFamily 2 года назад
Good point. It doesn’t actually lock the Diffs instead it uses the abs to add breaking to the wheel spinning freely and it transfers power to the other wheel that has traction. This is how every 4x4 and AWD rig works without lockers or LSD. Some work better than others.
@chownzi2461
@chownzi2461 Год назад
You could use a high lift jack on the receiver in the back it would do the same thing
@krispewkrem3
@krispewkrem3 2 года назад
Would it have been better to use the jack on the rear diff? I used to jack up my Subaru from the diff. Bottle jacks are definitely useful. They can save you, they can break stuff, they can lift stuff. Super versatile and cheap.
@4x2WagonFamily
@4x2WagonFamily 2 года назад
Hi there, the Diff is a great jacking point in most cases, but in this scenario it was too low for my bottle Jack to get under. The leaf springs was little sketchy because it was angled and it could have slipped off at anytime, but I took a chance and it worked 🤣
@Selfprogressionasaman
@Selfprogressionasaman 4 месяца назад
I think you would grabbed more traction if you aired your tires down to 38-35. It will give you traction and with most F-150s the door air pressure is 35

Do you have lockers or is it Slip differential?
@4x2WagonFamily
@4x2WagonFamily 3 года назад
They’re open diffs but the transfer case controls the the traction control.
@alauen
@alauen 3 года назад
Fj60 Wagon Family the transfer case transfer power to the front axle. The diffs are what transfer power equally to each side of the vehicle. Open diffs won’t evenly distribute power

Hank M if you listened to what he said towards the beginning he mentioned that the tires only had 3/32” of tread left and that is visually confirmed at 14:07. Off-roading is all about tires not what brand you’re driving. You see what you wanna see and hear what you wanna hear though.
