Rewatching old videos to prep for the golf season. Your methods have changed my golf game for the better. Started as a 30 handicap two years ago and now down to a 20.5 and trending downward. I get grief from guys who can bomb a drive 250 but into the bush lol. Keep up the great helpful content.
I implemented his strategy as well and it 100% works. Dropped my scores to consistently be below 100 (its my first year golfing). I focused a lot of time on the range on my driver so its long (240 average) and consistent and it made a huge difference. I'm railing my drives out there on the fairway on every hole, then hitting nothing but 7, 8, 9, pw, gap. Staying on the fairway, hitting every green and keeping it in play. it works. I stopped trying these hero shots off the fairway with a 5 wood or 4 iron to try and get it out to 220 yards to land on the green, where i end up chunking, topping or fading the shit out of it into the woods.
I took some inspiration from you today. I only used my irons for a whole round. It was the most enjoyable round of golf I have ever had. no chasing down lost balls, low stress shots!! I shot a 104 tied my personal best!! I will break 90!!
Used your strategy on my spring trip to Florida. 81-84 all 5 times I played. My yardages are different. But I use same stratagy. It’s key to know the yardages. And stay out of trouble. I can’t wait for the next episode. 200 yard driver. 175-185 7 wood. 165-180 4 utility. 150 6 iron. Etc. pitching wedge 100. 48 degree is my finess club. 60-100. And bump and runs. 58 degree wedge for sand and when I have to go over some stupid ass thing. 😂. Thanks. Enjoy
I broke 96 for the 1st time! I followed your break 100 strategy and it worked!!!! The adjusted Par eliminated the course difficulty and allowed me to focus on my game and not be stressed out I did not make par. I actually par more times and birdie as a result. Thank you! Your content and simplification of the game is amazing! I look forward to my next tee time ⛳️🙌🏽
I only play once a week and I'm a 7 handicap. I also only use 8 clubs and never have a problem getting the proper yardages from my 8 clubs. I use a Driver,3 wood,5 hybrid,7,9,pw,sw and putter.
Listened to interview on Off Brand Golf. I brought up the age of your audience. 67 and enjoying your videos. Very close to breaking 90 with your strategy.
I had a friend from Latvia who’s sadly no longer with us, but your Lithuanian claim made me think of him and then I wondered what it would take to snag the number one Estonian Golf RU-vid spot. Since following your channel my handicap has gone from 28 to 27.7 in only 2 years! Also, can you recommend an ointment for golfer’s groin? Thanks Matt - love your work.
And also on another topic, effort always beats talent. So practicing as often as possible is key for eveyone. And then controling the mental aspect is another challenge ⛳️
Could you hit similar distances with another set of irons that are older, maybe something a recreational golfer might use? What speed are you hitting your irons? I'm about 30 yards less compared to your distances as a 10 handicapper.
you live in a pretty humid climate right? that would give you probably 10-15 yards on real hot days........but even without this these are GREAT numbers
Ball goes further in Arizona, same in California, 5 yards less in Scotland summer, 10% further in Johannesburg. I don’t play in temperatures below 14° C so that effect i wouldn’t know
I have a 52 and a 56 that i hit the exact same distance. Why carry both? The difference is not loft but bounce, and ground conditions dictate which I play. Get fit for your wedges!
My 3 wood goes farther than my driver! WTF? I can carry my 3 wood 175, but my driver only goes a total of 175-180. Do I need a new driver? I am going to play my next round with no driver to see if I score better.
Im guessing not enough speed to make the lower lofted driver actually go further. Club Champion has a video on high irons? Vs hybrids? Or was it woods? And diminishing distance for "average" swing speed people. Basically theres a swing speed cap, and if you dont make it so,e of these clubs simply dont make sense. I crank my driver to 11deg from 9 for this reason and it now gaps well with my 3 wood. 100mph swing speed.
@@brucehanna9473 or get faster, which is free. But if your driver is like 8 or 9 deg and your 3 wood is out carrying it because you dont have the speed to compress the ball enough to make the squarer impact payoff more than the loss in initial loft trajectory, yeah the extra loft will bring it back into balance. Buying new clubs is such a luxury in this clown world economy.
My 48 degree (stock wedge) is 120 - 125 yds. I have to assume then that your tacomos are 2 degrees stronger per club. I'm about a half a club weaker in ranges than you Matty. However that driver length is prodigal. No way I can carry 290. In my defense it's a 15 year old club rocket balls 9.5 degree with stiff zhaft. I never really hit it well. Until the last 12 months. It used to carry abt 255. I think now it ould be 15 yds longer carry. My 2c....
Bro unless ur identical to him in swingspeed and using his clubs and playing in thailand..... newsflash your distances will be different lol. This comment like me tryingn to stretch 200 more words in my essay 😂
Ok. Now I get what is confusing me your wedge 146-150, then you refer to a 48 degree skyforger @ 132 yds. My wedgie is a 120 yd club. So what loft is the tacoma wedge?
Driver 178 ball and 1.5 smash? That doesn't seem accurate to the swing I saw. Distance is hugely impacted by atmosphere, elevation etc so I'm taking that with a pinch. 9 iron at 98mph swing? That's best part of 10mph higher than PGA average. I think that tracker needs calibrating.
Wayne don’t be sad because i hit it longer than you. I cut out the parts where i measured it with the distance tracker on the gps watch because i thought ‘don’t rub it in’
