Sadly Stockholm today has lost much of its former beauty

Exteriors are much the same but commerce is worse. Too much online shopping and some of the staff today are not Swedish, meaning no fun, less interesting, to visit the city. Jag är ju svensk själv så jag vet.

Extremely grateful to the once proud and magnificent Sweden for receiving my family and me back in the 80s and forever indebted to give something back and put this nation back on track - if Swedes are just willing to stop self-destructing.

You just come on in. Our country is your country. Our resources don’t belong to us but to the whole world, only racists disagree. Sweden, we do things a little differently around here :)

Thanks a lot for this,it was interesting! When I watch old footage like this, I always think it would be cool if somebody would go to the exact same locations today, film, and then have the both films side by side. In case somebody wants to know what we see: 0:11 Royal Swedish Opera House 0:15 Stockholm Concert Hall (This is where the Nobel Prize awards are held) 0:22 The steps of Stockholm Concert Hall by Hötorget is still a popular place to sit in the summers (Palace of the Hereditary Prince) is the seat of Ministry for Foreign Affairs, it´s situated on Gustav Adolfs square. The statue is of king ("Gustavus Adolphus) king of Sweden 1611-1632) 0:50 Stockholm Royal Palace. The steamboats passing by are called "Storskär" and "Norrskär" and those it´s still in traffic (during the summers). I recommend anyone visiting Stockholm to go on either of these ships. They´re lovely. 1:24 The Parliament House 1:45 Traneberg Bridge 2:30 Royal Swedish Opera House again. 2:43 Norrbro ("Northern Bridge) between Stockholm Royal Palace and Gustaf Adolfs torg. 2:56 Centralbron ("Central Bridge), Vasabron ("Vasa Bridge). The parliament and the Royal castle. 3:06 This is the view from the tower of the City Hall, towards Riddarholmen (The Knights Isle) and Gamla stan (Old town). 3:23 The Royal Palace 3:32 The Parliament House 3:54 Riddarholmskyrkan. This is the church where a lot of Swedish royalty is buried. 3:56 City Hall (this is where the Nobel Banquet is held) 4:25 Stockholm Concert Hall and Hötorget

Ty for uploading, i love this. So sad they destroyed that huge building with a indoor sporthall it cost huge money and did not last long, if i remember correct at the end next to the stairs.

However modernism has ruined alot of Stockholm's vital parts since the 60's, it's incredibly sad.

Yeah, there have been large changes to stockholm, but not to most of the areas appearing in the video, most of the video could be rerecorded in the same locations with a similar result today.

For some reason they always do it right in Sweden. No WW2, no pandemic chaos.. they drove on the left side of the road btw till 67.. if beer was a little cheaper there, it would be the best country on this planet..

Allied to the nazi Germany during the WWII until 1945. The Gov sent fleeing Jews back to Gestapo. Then allied to the Sovjets until 1989. 0,1 percent of the Swedish population have died in covid-19 in a Year. World record in high Taxes. Increasing crimes.... Increasing antisemitism. Nothing is doing properly...
