Captured here is Stockholm's Katarina Fire Station, located in the quirky Södermalm area. This fire station has been in service since 1876, serving the citizens of Stockholm continuously, day after day, for over 144 years!
The station has of course been renovated and upgraded over time, but it hasn't stopped service for even a single day. And according to the firefighters this makes Katarina the oldest active fire station in the world!
The firefighters are still pursuing official recognition of this title by Guinness World Records.
At the same time Katarina Fire Station is now home to one of the newest fire engines in the city, a 2019 Scania P370, labelled as Engine 1310. In this video you will see 1310 respond to two seperate emergency calls, also featuring Ladder 1330.
Enjoy the video and let me know what you think in the comments!

Sweden is an awesome place to spot all kinds of emergency vehicles. Although it's the most American-like country in Europe in many aspects, and many fire apparatus have the same amount of emergency lights like their American counterparts, it's somehow funny that the apparatus from the Greater Stockholm FD have rather few lights mounted on the trucks. I miss the old times where they were still running Ford F series in Stockholm

Great, but have they continuously been in service from that station every single day since it was put in service? Probably not, but the problem is that it’s also very hard to prove. Guiness World Records requires a ton of documentation and paperwork to validate a record, and centuries old fire departments often can’t provide that.

@@toreou Are they though? The housing looks as big as that of a vector, which is higher than that of a Vision SLR. Next to that you can see LED's inside, instead of a mirror as the Vision SLR has.
@toreou
@toreou 3 года назад
@@xavierleclaire4076 Not really, Vector and older Vision shares the same boxy casing, with similar design. The most significant difference between the older Vision and Vector is that the Vector uses halogen light bulbs while the older Vision uses LED lights. Inside later generation of Vision SL/ Vision SLR, there is a large transparent lens like structure that reflects lights under the rotating platform of each pods with streamlined casing, instead of the older design with a huge mirror, and covered in the iconic boxy casing. So I guess I was partially wrong, as I found that the internal parts of the pod of the lightbar shown in this video may not suit such standards of a stock lightbar. All I can see is just fixed LED flashing pattern that simulates the rotating effect. I think it could be customised with other third party parts or just a lightbar from knock off brands.

To be honest, I think US style apparatus is becoming obsolete in the modern world. It's just that since people are so used to them, they keep it like it is.
