Great recipe. I think I would prefer the pea version also. The freeze dried peas are so delicious! I will have to try this one over biscuits. Looks like a comfort meal. The playlist has been wonderful. So many awesome ideas!!👑
I have been LOVING this collaboration!! It has been wonderful not only contributing videos but also seeing all the entries! This looks sooo good thank you for sharing! 😊❤
I love MIAJ and you are the channel that inspired me to take the plunge into MIAJ. I love your presentations and all your instructions about MIAJ. The second version of Chicken A La King is my pick! So glad to see you in this collaboration!
It's coming sooner than you think! Thrive Life is working on expanding overseas right now! If you'd like, you can email me at info@wickedprepared.com and I can put you on my list. That way when it's available in the UK, I can let you know! 😀 It's coming soon!
That looks good the roomie keeps asking for this and like you I never grew up eating or ever trying this meal both ways looked super good. Thanks for showing us 2 great ways to make a good meal. I have also found myself not leaving room for the pasta/rice which unless a gift you know you can just grab from your bulk thanks again!
I love the idea of doing everything from scratch because you know exactly what is in it. I really love how you put this meal together. Thank you for sharing this great meal in a jar!
Memories of childhood. If we had any leftovers, it was ala king the next day. Turkey ala king, chicken ala king or SOS. (SH!+ on a shingle) as dubbed by our military. Served on toast. Total comfort food.
This is a GREAT recipe for a meal in a jar!! Chicken ala king is such a classic recipe and comfort food. I love how you put it together too. Thank you also for the information you provide on how to do this. I will be doing quart jar, because I would need a quart jar since this would disappear once made with no leftovers.:)
Childhood recipe brought to modern day pantry stable life! Love it! Thank you for sharing it with us. I am definitely going to be trying this one!!!! (though it does need the peas! Haha)
Oh wow Jara, both versions look absolutely delicious and can't wait to give them a try. I do think the family would like the pea version but both look really good. Thank you so much for sharing!!!
👑 i appreciate your meal in a jar videos. Although I have some freeze dried foods for emergencies i was really clueless about how to get the best use out of them, that is until i discovered Wicked Prepared. These meals in a jar are a lifesaver, however, I'm using mylar bags instead of jars. I live in a forest mountain area and if we have to evacuate jars wouldn't be practical for me but i can cram a lot of mylar bags into a tote. Thank you. 👑 👑 👑 ❤
This is a popular backpacking meal, great to have a way to make mine own in a much healthier version instead of the packaged version at the stores (very expensive, lots of "extra" ingredients!)
The second version is closer to the way my mom used to cook it, I believe she added diced carrots instead of pimento or red peppers though. Thanks for the video! Sorry, don't have emojis...
I love chicken a la king. I make my own every once in a while. They used to come in the Boiling Bags line of products a looong time ago . We ate it on toast ...Thank you for your 2 recipes. I'm going to try them... 👑😊🥰
It's been a long time since I had Chicken a la King. This looks good, although the second version is closer to what I remember. Thanks for participating on this collab (as well as all of the othets) and for the great ideas! BTW, I got that Betty Crocker cookbook as a birthday gift when I was a junior in high school (1969) and I still have it! 👑
Thank you ma'am 😊, I Love all of the recipes,My Mother and Grandmother made this one all the time..i like the peas in this recipe... Thank you again! 😁
👑Jara, is there a guide showing how much water is needed for refreshing freeze dried foods in the Meals in a Jar? I never know how much would be needed. I’d like to experiment making my own meal ideas. Any help would be appreciated.
This guide might be helpful! ltl.is/hz9kf5x This book is also a great resource: amzn.to/43Hz8KI If you purchase your freeze dried, dehydrated and powdered ingredients, they also usually have rehydration instructions on the package. It's so much fun creating meals in a jar! A few tips: -I usually try not to use more than 1 cup of meat per jar, which is approximately 1/2 lb, so i scale the recipe based on that. - freeze dried food measures equally with fresh, dehydrated shrinks so you use less. - look for patterns in tried and true recipes. Many recipes will use similar amounts of rice or pasta for example and a certain amount of water with it. - when in doubt, start with less.. less water, less seasoning, etc. You can add more as cooking with your test recipe. Take notes as you add or change things. Have fun!
I finally bought the Swanson's Chicken a la King and tasted it. To my surprise it was delicious over rice. Thank you for all your great videos. They make me think, plan, and act.
