Beautiful piano solo to open, strong lead vocals, great horns…….heck the whole performance is a so fine reincarnation of this lovely classics Dan song. Play on players……and those lovely Dannettes swaying to the music. My, my…….

SUPERB cover work by you guys , this tune from the BIG APPLE pop fused jazz band is my top shelf faves, and your drummer has that Purdie Shuffle down pretty solid . Grazie for the share of your covers and tribute to STEELY DAN. I've got the news ......now.....lol......
Wow! Lot of work went into creating this. Well done. I'm not criticising the band, but I do have a comment. My comment is directed to all the bands that channel Steely Dan. An enormous amount of time and energy goes into getting the parts to sound like the original. In this band in particular, the keyboard player added a few of his ideas. This sounds petty, but in all of these channel bands, the all fail on one point: The lead vocal. The strangled, perhaps whinny sound of Donald Fagen is part of the Steely Dan sound and it's pretty well never copied.
John Mazur Li - I gave to agree, so vocalists gave to do their own thing somehow. And this guy does a great job in that context. And the band is stellar too. The horns and overall mix is terrific. And the bass player & drummer knock out the groove like a train.
What a strange comment - your complaint is that the lead vocalist doesn't sound enough like Donald Fagen for you ? Donald Fagen is the only person who sounds like Donald Fagen since you don't seem to realize that.
+White Winged Dove: Fleetwood Mac Stevie Nicks Buckingham Nicks Tribute Band & Duo Around Nijmegen somewhere if I'm not mistaking - in The Netherlands anyway.
Excellent ... covers are hardest for the singers I reckon ... we all listen and go .... “Well, not bad but not the Fagen”. However. He’s done a good job. Let’s face it ... Fagen really is THE voice, the signature, of the Dan. Wish he hadn’t smoked so many cigarettes ...
Oh heck !… I only just noticed , that this clip , was posted 11years ago !! I guess the jokes on me , huh !?! 😆 … but , if they are still performing somewhere , then please read my my last opinion on this subject … Thanks !! 🤨
Killer. Only one issue: the drummer hits the ghost notes so loudly, it sounds like 16th notes are being played throughout. Ease up on the ghost notes volume and give it that Purdie funky swaing. OOOOOO, yeaaaaaaaaaa. Killer job, though, all around.
@@JasDarc Ya Wohl......I've struck it rich.....have a beautiful woman to bear and sire meine kinder, a treasure to watch dress/undress with admiration, and someone who can speak to me in my language of music and appreciate the challenges of an instrument....a wonderful combination, wouldn't you say?
Man, I hate to be a downer because I know how hard a tune this is to perform or cover, but it's missing that . . . that thang, that funk, that groove. It's hard to come behind Purdie, I admit, but this half-time shuffle has really got to groove, and the drummer's ghost notes sound very mechanical and evenly-measured. Almost like a machine. The triples sound like a train. The beauty of Purdie, Porcaro, Bonham, doing their shuffles is the inconsistent touch. And I don't mean inconsistent in a bad way; I mean they're feelin' the ghost notes. Sometimes not even throwing them in. It's a hard tune to get right. Fagen and Becker themselves worked like hell on getting it right. If I were in a band, I'd leave this tune alone.
I'm glad that they didn't - this is a great tune and they do a great job! It's easy to be picky with someone else's playing. How does your version sound?
@@tome7716 Fagen was never a trained vocalist. Like Lou Reed or Jerry Garcia his charm has been his unschooled way of under singing , not over singing. Joan Baez over sang everything, Ronnie James Dio was almost operatic. Fagen is not that kind of vocalist.
No bro …. If you are going to ATTEMPT any Steely Dan guitar solo , then please be at least FAITHFUL to the part . Don’t just stand there and noodle your way through it . It makes you look amateurish and just plain bad …. Trust me on this . People DO listen closely to the guitars .
