The, "Wish I died, instead of lived, a zombie hides my face" always made me wonder if he was talking about Slipknot, because his old Slipknot mask was like decaying flesh on his face. Made me think he felt smothered by Slipknot, and that he had no input around the time at all and maybe he didn't want to be with them. I mean, that's the only thing I could guess, and I know around that time was when they all despised each other. Also, the, "Once, I hold on I'll never live down my deceit." Makes me think that he really does feel like he's betraying himself in the end and doing something he didn't want to do.

The aging Image is his "Inner Demon" that he's slowly working to terminate, and he's speaking to himself.

Very Beautiful also you have an amazing singing voice. Great reactions by the way, you tend to understand most of the meanings to these songs very well, very descriptive. Most of Corey’s songs tend to do with his inner demons and things that have happened to him and still haunt him and what not, but he’s a fighter and pulls through a lot. Good breakdown of the meaning of the song in the way you see it! The beauty of a well written song is that we can see a reflection of ourselves in it sometimes and it colors our opinion of the song. Corey is a great songwriter. He knows very well how to tap into emotions we've all felt at some point. Snuff is his masterpiece in my opinion but this is an excellent song as well. His ability to sound so different vocally and sing different styles is very impressive too. Thank you for always having new content. You go above and beyond for your fans!

This song has to with a lot of Corey's past traumas. "I wish I died instead of lived" I think refers to a time when he was a teenager and overdosed and his friends just tossed him in a dumpster. He has mentioned before that he lost a part of himself that day. There's also a lot of references about never knowing his father and past relationships. You got it right in that he often wishes that he could feel nothing at all instead of feeling the pain.

I absolutely recommend you listen to the album version of Zzyzx Rd by Stone Sour. In my opinion, it's the most gorgeous example of Corey's vulnerable vocals. It's a fantastic song.

Top level reaction! I like what you did with the video effects in your reaction! This is a unique song because everybody has a road/persona/personality of futility and uselessness in their life. Some travel it more than others and then there are others, not as much. In the 1993 American movie called Tombstone with Kurt Russel, Val Kilmer and others, there was some insight given as to the mindset of those who see the ends of their futility of purpose in their lives only to bring death and the only reconciliation they have is to despise the day of their birth. This song provides an outlet or maybe an instruction on how some can give a voice to their pain but it also drive a hopelessness into a prison with no walls; the prison of unforgiveness. While imprisoning someone in a reality of unforgiveness which isn't very conducive to a nurturing and loving spirit, the quality of this song is that it forces people who do not know how to deal with pain the blunt tutelage of doing the psychological and emotional work because lingering in one thing for too long, that person would become like swamp water. You have a great voice by the way!

I feel like the song is more about changing over time and realizing that the old you is dying or mostly dead and that is okay and not something to cling to but pieces of it linger in vestiges and faded memories. Instead of being completely gone it becomes resurrected in part by the current you for better or worse. I also feel like there is some regret for the past and relief that it is disappearing. Also the current self is angry at their past self. Idk though honestly there’s a lot of different possibilities. just what I see.

Yeah a lot of people definitely don’t realize how great of a singer Corey Taylor is because of his work with slipknot but he is an amazing singer with range for days once I first heard Stone Sour years ago I couldn’t believe it was the same guy but a girl whole new respect for him as a singer after that always respected him though

Its spoken word rant by corey that's funny but also speaks truth. Lastly, corey sings a song with other great musicians from other bands called FROM CAN'T TO CAN. The lyrics there go deep.
