When I heard stone sour played this song I was like "wh... whaaaat !?!?!?" And I literally ran to my computer to listen to it... and here I am, listening to this great cover man... I'm so glad that one of my favorite bands could perform one of my favorite songs of all times.
Not sure how good that would be. The 1st cover album was PERFECT. The 2nd one was okay. There are covers from the scrapped 3rd cover album on this special edition of hydrograd. I am not impressed with the 3rd round of covers. Just my opinion.

As always Corey knows how to do a cover. By putting your voice and feel into the song not trying to imitate the original singer. Same way Chris Cornell did with all the covers he's played. May his soul be at peace, he will be dearly missed.
saw the video tribute on spotify shortly after chris cornell's death and my jaw hit the floor. then i found out that you guys learned it in a day and played it live in a clip someone nabbed and put on youtube. glad to see that it's finally included on here and in hydrograd deluxe. kick ass cover.
Soundgarden is one of my favorite bands of all time and this is one of my favorite songs of all time I’ve been singing this song since I was in grade school I’m 22 now and I still can’t hit those high notes
Full props to Corey on this, he is a very versatile singer. The cover somehow feels heavier then the original. RIP Chris, you truly had the best voice in Rock.
Went over to my trusty guitar. The original was in Drop D. This cover is down a 1/2 step from that (Db or C#). So def a lower tuning, which can make it sound heavier.
@@MetalRob81 True! I play in a 90s / some 00s Coverband and we chose to use Standard D# and Drop C# as our tunings. My vocalist is a natural Tenor and this bugger can sing almost everything due to his range and due to the fact that we use Standard D# and Drop C# he has way less difficulties to hit the higher notes. Well.. he is in his mid 50s and there are many young vocalists who would kill in order to sing like my vocalist :)
@@sevenman9672 Stone Sour were on a analog kick before they went on hiatus. So if you don’t hear any overdubs, there’s not much of anything being tweaked.
How fitting this man was friends with the other outstanding voices of the music industry i dont think chris and chester did a song together that i can remember but if they oh boy would u be in for a treat the industry lost two very powerful singers in the last couple years RIP Chris Cornell of Soundgarden and Audioslave and to Chester Bennington of Linkin Park
One of my all time Favorite songs, Went through a lot of shit and felt every word of this song a couple times through out my life. Just feeling so low, Espically the Drinking part. Great cover.
I bet Chris is in the afterlife nodding in approval..... Soundgarden covers are tough because of the vocals.....but Cory puts his spin on this perfectly 😊
@@alexandersmith4127 Taylor isn't as good a singer as cornell imo. Its not even close. They dropped the key of the song just for him to even attempt it.
I got the deluxe version of Hydrograd when it came out. One day my mom was in my car while the second cd was on, and she heard this cover. She still doesn't believe me that it's Corey Taylor instead of Chris Cornell.
As much as I love Corey going for the highs, I don’t want him to irreparably damage his vocal cords. Dude does enough switching from melodic to guttural on a daily basis.

Man , Soundgarden wrote some pretty badass songs . The lyrics " I'm looking California but I'm feeling Minnesota " , so cool and Corey did a pretty good job on this song. I've never heard any other stone sour or slipknot song except Snuff , but I know that Corey Taylor is a cool person , but this cover has convinced me that I need to check Stone Sour and slipknot out. (P.S. The Drum Fills are too good on this song).
