He is no more than a cover band performer - he mimes Scott's moves and was hired because he kind of sounded like him. Not a bad performer, just not Scott
I saw them four years ago with my good friend. Both of us are huge. Stone Temple Pilots fans were blown away at the performance tomorrow I will see them in Traverse City with my sister, and I am just beyond excited very happy. They have continued with their music after Scott’s tragic loss. No one could ever replace Scott, but Jeff does one hell of a job.
@@stevemcurtis it was fantastic was not a large crowd, but given the event that was going on wasn’t expecting too much but they’re fantastic. Jeff sounds great. I’m a huge fan of the basis Robert and of course the guitar plan is wonderful.
@@stevemcurtis me and my buddy will again be seeing them in September if you’re Stone Temple Pilots fan like me you wish they would play a lot of their songs that normally don’t get played. Unglued, kitchen ware, candy bars however they did play Silvergun Superman, which is one of my favorite songs of all time you’ll have a good time if you love Stone Temple Pilots like me
That's why I'm not diggin it... Nobody can recreate Scott Weilands stage moves.. He's unique like Jagger when it comes to his stage prowess... This guy. although I give him credit, he just doesn't do it for me.. Maybe if he ditched the Scott Weiland costume and slicked back dyed hair, he'd have more credibility with me.. But again, I give the guy credit for trying his best... it ain't easy to fill the "worn-thin" walkin' shoes of a Legend!✌️

I think the best thing is he’s not trying to sound like him obviously nobody will ever sound like Scott, but this guy is doing a damn good job. If you ever heard Scott live, his voice is way different live than it is on the record.

My coworker & I had just finished up a job in L.A. & had heard that STP still had some tickets for their upcoming show available the week Scott went D.O.A……. I was kinda bummed that morning when the local radio broke the news he was no more & the show was unexpectedly cancelled . I honestly had no idea they are back with this new guy & are out playing live again . Cool . Maybe I’ll get to see this second incarnation play sometime live , other than here on RU-vid
It’s hilarious and amusing seeing people get their panties in a bind just because this new guy seems to be a “Scott wannabe”. Personally, I don’t care. He did a decent job in my opinion. I’m just glad the band is carrying on. Chester (RIP) did a great job as well.
I was there! I moshed so hard during Vaseline and Crackerman that I missed the fact that they played Crackerman and yelled out for it later in the set, very embarrassing 😅
Man, Jeff is killing it. There is no vocalist I miss more than Scott (okay I love Layne), but man the band is tight in 2024 because the DeLeo's are genius, and Eric Kretz is still a power house on the drums (and woefully underrated). If you haven't seen Robert's Rick Beato interview, go watch it.
I don't think there's any good way to deal with the road life other than drugs and alcohol .musicians are different, they can practice , or shop for music stuff . .singers just have chicks and time n ..drink or drugs. This guy this is a meal ticket he is down .
The show must go on.....they got to start somewhere. Hopefully they can transition like AC/DC and Van Halen with replacement singers. It can be done but he has got to kill it in the studio and do something completely ORIGINAL and great. Good luck Jeff...sincerely.
Jeff has been absolutely crushing it in this band....buuut i wouldn't mind seeing them busting out some deeper cuts once n a while. will always love them and they still sound fantastic. RIP Scott
I understand people saying the singer should just be himself but if he didnt sound anything like Scott people would have a problem as well! So he should just look like himself and act like himself but sing in a similar style like the man we all miss
Jeff Gutt is a seasoned veteran, he was in a nu metal group called dry cell that had some success and was also on X Factor, it's not like he was a nobody. Scott Weiland was a vocal chameleon as well as Jeff Gutt, as far as him doing his moves, that may be the band telling him to do that, they have very similar voices though
Wish they'd release a new album & perform more of the jeff era songs. I did enjoy both stp 2018 & perdida. Would like to see new music for what new stuff jeff can bring to stp.
I've been a scott kind of guy the whole time not interested in this guy whatsoever. I was there... you couldn't of botherd me if you crashlanded a plane on my forehead. This was incredible, half drunk you couldn't tell it wasn't scott.
I'll never forget the day the STP website had a massive statement on the front page "Scott Weiland has been terminated" - I thought to myself, what an awful way to treat someone, how cold and corporate. Well boys, you've got your little corporate gig going on now, playing in the blazing sun on the lunchtime slot with a singer who didn't even win an X Factor TV show contest.
@@JMsyoutube536 the Deleo's are an amazing duo. Probably the best in the U.S in the last 40 years. They could have periodically played with Scott when he was well at Arena size and made great albums (they've never made a bad album with Scott) or they could be playing 4 band bills in clubs, small theatres, and playing at 2pm in the afternoons at county fairs with no credible singer to make albums with. They chose the latter.
STP was one of my favorite bands when Scott was part of it, when they reformed with the new guy it was obvious that it would be more of a cover band type thing which is ok. BUT if they wanted to really put on a show then they need to ditch the 14 over played songs they endlessly repeat, and go with all the wonderful deep tracks in their catalog! If Jeff is unable to sing those more obscure tracks then get someone who fucking can! is not rocket science and this band has so much more to offer than a boring greatest hits only format.
i see tons of comments saying how good this guy is and how he has the sound and the moves. he is ok. but lets get real. this guy does not have the energy or the sound of the real singer. good for them to find a guy to do it. good for the fans to have a show to go to but lets not say he is spot on etc etc. i see some comments say he is spot on. i think they need to go listen to the album and then watch this again and tell me he is spot on. that is a slap in the face to the original singer.
Ahhh. I would probably be a lil Brian Johnson to lankier bon as wider, but if I can probably sing a lot of these songs, there's people who can do it. . Ozzy and Bruce Dickinson are the ones who are super speciated , sort of . .Rhianna has a distinct voice that islanders could pull off, Madonna, or Phil Anselmo etc . .Eddie Vedder is kind of distinct , seems the very short types are the ones wider diaphragms a lil or something . .weird nose voice. .in maiden guy etc.

Whoa I like him. It’s like he mixed in some of Scots moves with his own vibe here and there but he doesn’t look like he’s actually trying to cop Scot as much as he’s trying to pay tribute to his style. Maybe I’m speaking too soon
Tired of everyone thinking Jeff is trying to take Scott’s place. Sadly and unfortunately we don’t have Scott anymore, and Jeff acknowledges Scott’s memory quite a bit. I even heard he won’t sing a lot of the songs through a megaphone, because that was Scott’s thing and he wants to keep it that way. With all that being said, this guy is good and I think is the best lead for STP since Scott.
Ok so I took myself an objective listen.. I have NOT heard them without Scott up until this point and I will say that whomever the guy is that's "walkin' shoe wore thin" is doin'an admirable job. It really doesn't matter who it is cuz theyre gonna get criticized either way! But one things for sure, dudes got a lotta balls steppin' into the front-line of STP! - When I started listening to this show I figured I'd shut it off in less than 5 minutes but guess what, I just listened to the whole damn show and i admit that it wasn't too bad! ✌️ **And now that I've thought about this for a minute, it is kinda disrespectful for this singer to come out there trying to dress like and look like Scott Weiland all the way to the slicked back dyed-hair.. ~ it doesn't work for me! - If the dude could ditch the costume and be himself maybe he'd be OK??
