Foo Fighters performing their song 'This Is A Call' live at Villa Park in Birmingham UK on 27.06.2024. This was part of their 'Everything Or Nothing At All Tour' and was the bands last stop in the UK.
This young dude isn't just Taylors kid getting a sympathy guest appearance, he's a beast in his own right. What an awesome drummer. His future is bright!
What I see|feel|hear is Shane beating out his sorrow, his grief, his loss and his anger on those skins. A brilliant rock drummer? Hell yes. God bless and carry on, Shane. Your dad would be proud.
I hope it's also a healing way of honouring his dad and feeling close to him. He's so incredibly talented, and I hope that his exposure to fame at such a young age doesn't lead him down a destructive path. I've been following his journey, and as a parent to young boys myself, I'm sure his parents couldn't have hoped for a more incredible son. He's an inspirational little dude, and I look forward to seeing many, many years of his success.
@@EmEm78I agree it’s awesome when he honors his dad by being amazing on drums, but we shouldn’t get carried away with the amazing guy stuff. He’s a multi millionaire, went to the rich private schools, is only around the privileged and celebs. Chances are as a person he’s terrible. Taylor even talked about it once that his biggest challenge was trying to keep his kids from becoming entitled jerks which he said is hard bc they grew up flying around the world on private planes. Taylor knew
Exactly, 100%, just like his father! Looks even more like his dad now with that longer hair, too. Glad his dads genes were passed onto him in a big way. The only thing I got from my dad was a hard time, extreme irritation, and a heads-up to never have children. Lol. Seriously though, Shane's going to be something big in his Lifetime, no doubt about it. 🙂👍
Shane knows their back catalogue more than Josh does, was literally brought up on the road with FF. I just think he’d be a better fit. No disrespect to Josh, but I’d of picked Shane over Josh.
Shane is a cross between his dad and Dave! The energy he brings to this band is undeniable! If he wants to be the drummer of the band it should be his spot! I would bet he is going to be the permanent drummer at some point in the next year or 2.
Holy cow.. if you didn't know... The way he hits the drums you'd think it was Taylor. His dad IS PROUD WATCHING FROM ABOVE. So awesome to see the Foo family supporting Shane!!!
Taylor would be smiling that huge lovable grin from the heavens above in pride. I have nothing but love here, how such awesomeness can come together, grow and flourish from tragedy, horns up fucking amen xx
It’s freaky, a million years ago I saw a 17 year old drummer, elbows and hair flying at the Rivoli in Toronto, it was a wee Dave Grohl playing with “Scream”. Shane reminds me more of a young Dave that a young Taylor. I think sitting at the kit, sharing a** sweat all those years added some Dave DNA to Taylor’s kid. He's a young phenom in his own right and Taylor shines through him.
I have thought that from the first time watching Shane play. He definitely hits like Dave. Taylor was talking about how Shane loved Nirvana more than foo fighters bc he liked Dave’s style. He loved his Dads also but I think Dave’s fit Shane better. Taylor’s style always LOOKS cleaner to me, but both are one of a kind and would be hard to choose which is best. Shane got the best of both and made this outstanding talent even better.🩵 ✌️🕊️🩵 His Dad would be proud 🤘😇🤘
He is so fortunate to have been surrounded by greats who could nurture his talent. Seems like he has definitely been influenced also by Dave. He pounds it!
U know they say, I wasn't there, that a double rainbow appeared over buckingham palace right when Queen Elizabeth the 2nd died, even though she died in Scotland?
Its like watching Dave when he was 20 odd in the early Nirvana days!!! He seriously is his Fathers son with some of Uncle Dave's influence showing through, but also an amazing drummer in his own right, which is the main thing!!.
Shane is an incredibly talented kid who has a bright future ahead of him, but anyone comparing him to Josh is sort of crazy. Shane is a lot of talent and potential. Josh is perhaps the most successful session drummer of his generation. Shane can get there. But he’s a kid. I will say it’s great seeing his confidence grow. I saw him at Boston Calling and he is much more sure of himself now. I wish him absolutely the best!
Josh is indisputably very good , but Shame is also very good and he is also a Hawkins and this Band needs a Hawkins to be on drums.......Thanks Dave for letting him sit and bring a Hawkins sound and energy and special feel into Foo.....Very,very rare circumstances.....
Shane puts so much energy into one song that I don't think he's got anymore energy for the next song. Truly a brilliant drummer like his father. .Good on you Shane, it can only get better. You are a natural like your Dad.
"Taylor" is smiling his butt off looking down at his son, plus looking at Dave for mentoring him. Taylor is a very happy man knowing Shane is being taking care of by the entire band! R. I. P. Taylor, until all of us meet again.
I have absolutely no way of proving this other than showing pictures but I was backstage for some of the concert and actually saw Shane warming up. Best part was the day before the concert my family and I got to play on Josh’s drums, and hold guitars. One of my brothers even talked to Shane after he played and he’s a down to earth kind of guy.
What an electric atmosphere. Shane is really growing up and his hair is long like his dad's. What are legendary drummer just like Taylor but I think Shane is even better. I think if he's got to do a whole concert he might need to pace himself a little bit more LOL 🥁
There's a term of Grandfathering into the business.. I feel over time if Shane Buckels down to learn from these legends of rock and takes it seriously, his father's legacy will carry on to him.
He obviously learned from his father, but Shane also has a lot of Dave's 90s vibe when drumming. Which makes sense since Taylor always said they were big Nirvana fans but it was awkward to talk with Dave about it
It would be really hard job for anyone to be Foo fighters drummer that's why they have Josh freese cuz he's one of the only guys that would be able to do the job similar to taylor but this was spot on perfect so I think he could be foos drummer permanent one day though if he wanted by this performance but might not have the stamina (mentally and physically) to be full time. Hopefully he can be a drummer for a really great band of his own. If the band was really good that would be the blessing. But wow since he played at the memorial he's just perfect wow
Is it just me or is he as tall as Josh? He’s grown so much over the last 2 years. I guess he had to. Definitely a fondness for the first album. Hits as hard as Dave.
To be honest I think it would do him a disservice to play with the foo fighters. The foos have had their day and getting very samey. He needs a band his own age where he can forge his own legacy and own style.
Rock is dead. There are no young bands. Do you know any teenagers or even early 20 something guys? If they are into music it’s all on the computer with beats for rap stuff. The majority are all into rap, Kendrick Lamar and Drake and all that . Kids don’t get together with their friends and play guitar and drum anymore. The only reason why Shane does is because he grew up with it and his house/mansion has a frickin studio in it . Even that it was said he didn’t really care about playing drums in a band, until Taylor died and obviously became meaningful to him
I thought so too (just a little at a few points), but then I watched a better video of the same performance (better sound) and the rhythm seemed more steady, so I wonder if it was reverb we were hearing
