Come one, Come all! It's 1896 - Welcome to the very 'second' Olympic Games!
I say second, because after nearly 1600 years since the last Olympics in ancient times, the Games have been revived! I also should have said Come fourteen, Come men, because only 14 countries and only men, were allowed to participate...
We spectate the Games alongside Garry the American, and witness just how strange they actually were, being such a new (or old) thing!
Originally commencing in 776 BC in Ancient Greece, the ancient Games saw a lot borrowed in the new Games. Discus and marathons, sprints and swimming, the Olympic Game's revival was a pioneering effort that would set the stage to something that would change the course of humanity forever! For one of the first times in history came an activity that brought peoples from all around the world together. The age of Globalization was beginning, and breathed some of it's first breaths back in 1896.

(Note: The Americans did not bribe officials in the Games, I did that for comedic effect. But the nonsense in-between is true! Indeed, they did also wear long shorts and socks with light leather shoes too!)
