The Stonewall Dutch (1.d4 e6 2.Nf3 f5 3.g3 Nf6 4.Bg2 d5) is usually characterized by maneuvering and fighting for squares/color complexes. Black's dark-square bishop is the "good" bishop in this setup, so I seek to exchange it with the sequence 8.Bb2, 9.Qc1, and 10.Ba3. Instead of quietly agreeing to this swap, my opponent surprises me with 10...c5.

I've been following your channel for a month or so now, working my way through some of your older videos, and I just wanted to take the opportunity to thank you for the great content you've put up here. Not only are you a great player, but you also have a gift for teaching--your excellent explanations make complex ideas a lot easier to digest for low-level players like myself (I've learned a lot from your chess fundamentals videos and your game analyses). And I guess it doesn't hurt that your soothing voice and calm demeanor make your videos very easy to watch, too! Oh, and congratulations on winning the tournament!

Welcome back John! I thought you were busy with the summer camp but the tournament was cool too. About the new PC, as a PC enthusiast I would of course recommend you build your own. There really is not much difficulty - people describe it as 'adult Lego'. But I understand if you don't have the time, so in that case I will recommend a reputable system integrator as your second best option. Compared to prebuilts from manufacturers like Dell and Lenovo, you pay less for more performance. They offer extended warranty too, just in case you want that. The three brands I can recommend are CyberPower, iBuyPower, and Maingear. I have referred several friends to them all in the past and all had good experiences. If you want a recommendation for a configuration, give me a budget and I can put one together for you. As of the face cam location issue, I can write a simple browser script that moves the right-hand panel up a bit so you have a blank space there. You might want to reduce overall font size though (or go to 1080p), as otherwise the move list may look very squeezed and uncomfortable. Tell me if you want such a thing or if you have other ideas.

Great to see you back on lichess. Nice explanation of strategy against the stonewall. I always end up in huge pressure when playing against it, often with the opponent lodging a knight on e4. Also thanks for the analysis of the pawn square situation! Good tip!!

John, it is hard to believe that there are subscribers of your channel that don't love you and don't appreciate what you did for us all in terms of our chess education. I am in the Patreon group of Stjepan as well, and also I am in love with Chessable, which I use on a daily basis. But this time I will allow myself to completely disagree with you on your comment regarding the fact that you must limit your online game analysis because your opponents watch your channel. Please, believe me, they all have Chessbase and all your games played since you were a small kid until the last weekend tournament are there. Nobody will waste time looking at your videos, as this is really time consuming, if he/she can simply go trough your games with a professional chess software. And since your future opponents will be in their majority grandmasters, they are used to prepare for an opponent analyzing games in a chess database instead of looking through videos. Please, don't deprive us from your excellent educational videos because you fear your opponents will know what you will play against them. Cheers, Yavor
@JohnBartholomewChess

Thanks for using Chessable and following my channel. I hear what you're saying, but opponents have told me after OTB games that they used the info on my channel to prepare against me. Sure, lots of games are available in databases and elsewhere, but a smart opponent with suitable time to prepare will use any and all recent resources to scrape your games. So, it's not a risk-free endeavor to publish your games freely, especially with your personal insights into positions conveniently attached. I'm not saying this will 100% stop me from my publishing analysis in the future, but it's a factor.

Sir, a note about your video screen design: As most of us read from left to right and scan pictures the same way our vision most naturally comes to rest on the right side of the page. Putting your main image on the left side of the page is awkward for the viewer as one has to continually drag their vision back across the page to watch you. If possible it would be easier for the viewer to have the board in the center, you on the right and whatever other information you want to post on the left of the screen. Regards, Ric

Ive been playg the stoe wall for years now it's the only book I've ever read on chess. It wasn't surprising how fast you ran through him. Im currently around a 1550 player and the higher i go i see the stone wall is not to effective. I have been watching your channel for around 2 months now and your such a good teacher. Just picked up 2 books yesterday on chess I must learn some other styles of play besides the stone wall. Thanks for your content!!!!

The stonewall is still a very effective opening. Magnus Carlsen even recently used it to beat Fabiano Caruana. It was just the way that black played in this game which wasn't sound.

Have you tried to replace the thermal paste in your CPU heatsink? It's quite normal for a PC with a few years that the paste is already crystallised and therefore not transferring the heat efficiently. I would try that first and see if performance improves.
