Wait wait I consider myself an Afro Latino I’m mixed with Dominican and Puerto Rican And I grew up with black and spanish culture the way I see it is there’s sooo much internalized racism in the Latino community cause of the old heads and the white supremacy made them feel like being black is bad so they taught their kids that being is bad when it isn’t so many Dominicans in my family made fun of my brother for being darker than me and my sister and as I grew up I realized how soo many Latinos are afraid to accept that they are black

@@paulmartinez2629 very well said. But unfortunately you have racist family members in your family. I have a little cousin who is mixed (white mom, blk dad) and she says her mom's family (some of them) won't even talk to her without her mom being present.

Litten is so lit Well apparently not, cause you're not acting like it. Also, hispanic people took on their enslavers culture far more than black people did and are a lot more mixed. So not really, we're not exactly the same. If you have no choice but to be black and can't escape your blackness and pretend to be morena or mestizo etc, then you're black.
@izadorad
@izadorad 4 года назад
We have to remember, there are Afro Latinos that are not mixed. When people think of Afro Latino they think of light skin or mixed with black. There are plenty Afro Latinos like myself who are speaking up but since we don’t look like the Afro Latinos that the media like to push we get over looked. We need to shine a light on darker skins Afro Latinos cause they exist too and are outspoken. Cause the lighter skin Afro Latinos are definitely pushing us aside.
@izadorad

Abraham isaac Jacob Yisrael I’m actually tempted to make a video and shine a light on our darker skin Afro Latinos and our history and erasure and show that we do exist.

Rico Taylor I’ve definitely had black Americans treat me differently once they find out that I was born in Brazil. They then claim I’m not black which is funny cause when they think of Brazilians you definitely don’t think about people who look like me. We just need to inform people more. The issue is the media and also the Latino community in America. They like to think all Latinos are mixed when that’s not the case. There are plenty of full white Latinos, full black, full Arab, full eastern Asian etc. Latinos ESPECIALLY in Brazil the largest Latin American country. Heck people still think we speak Spanish 😂. We just need to make ourselves know and push representation for us darker skin black Latinos cause our lighter skin counterparts and white Latinos are not doing for us nor want to.

How many latinos/afro latinos/asians (clearly including Indians from india) had families here before 1965?? I'll wait. And clearly I know about the land that was taken and all that, but I specifically mean after that, to live together. Without my ancestors none of yall would be here.

Taylor Ceirra Didn't know that there were Dominicans out in that Town... I'm from NYC & I'm Dominican or American of Dominican Descent... Now, most of the time Black Dominicans don't want to be called Black because they think they're being associated with Black American since they're Hispanic by Ethnicity... But, a lot of them would deny that they have African Ancestry - that's due to massive Brainwashing from the Colonizers & the Dictator Trujillo

So true, but sad. I have a story my daughter told me, it happened on her job. She said, it was 5 females working on this particular day. She said, they all noticed, the dark skinned sisters working that day. To make along story short, a customer came into the store and noticed that too. The customer said, oh it's nice to see all black people working in one place. MY daughter said, the Dominican girl blurted out, oh I'm not black, they had no idea she felt that way.

Minorities and POC need to stand together, true equality for black people means equality for everyone. ALSO touching on Tarek, his content is incredible, I know that he is for us 10000% and those tweets are not an accurate representation of the person he is TODAY. Just adding my 2 cents as to why people are quick in to ‘cancel’ black creators personally I think it’s because it tends to always be black women being made fun of on the internet and a lot of people are truly over it.

I'm glad you spoke of this. Real talk. We all have to stick together. A black mans injustice can and will become that of anybody's. No matter what island you from or what boat your ancestors got on and off of.

I really appreciate this video because to me, as an Afro-Latina (Dominican), when I watch and read about what is happening in the world right now, I see it as these things are happening to MY community. I see myself, I see my brother and we look just like those who are experiencing police brutality/murdering. So I just don't see how Dominicans can watch the news and think that this is something that excludes their people.

Your not Afro Latina you are a multiracial.

Princess peach first off if she identifies as Afro Latina you don’t get to decide that she isn’t, second most Dominicans have a lot of African ancestry making them have black physical features, you see her profile picture and you see a black woman. she is black and she is Latina.

I REALLY applaud you for speaking on this. I grew up in the South Bx amongst plenty of Afro Latinos, we lived together, partied together & fought together. At the end of the day we are ALL descendent’s of Africa.

Wow Justin. I appreciate you for this. Because no one ever addresses it. I felt like I was alone in this perspective. I love how you're able to not only differentiate Afro latino from latino but that you're empathetic and considerate enough to not address something out of your range. So many ppl allow their feelings to cloud their better judgement. And so many ppl have an opinion on shit they'll never understand or experience. It's okay to eliminate bias.

Thanks for saying this bro. I'm glad to see more of my latino family come to this understanding. I also know there are many "African-americans" who need to come to the understanding that we are the same people.
