The best thing I've gotten into the habit of doing is not moving my head to look at the green until I hear the ball make contact with the green after the shot. Really helps me maintain focus on the shot that I've planned.

Key points I learned which helped me so much. Weight forward, hands forward to hit the sweet spot. Follow through properly having faith in the loft of the club. Decide high or low with balls position (front foot going high, back foot going low) Great video peter. Keep em coming 👍

I've been playing golf for well over 40 year and always struggling with chips. I viewed this video morning and practiced it this afternoon at the practice green, wow, this is going to change my game, as you said, its all about the body rotation. I can't wait to play this week, thanks Peter!

As a person who just went through this after returning to golf after a very long break, here is what I learned: - As Peter pointed out in the video, but didn't explicitly state using the words Arms and Wrists, for me the KEY was to re-learn again to chip using my back as rotation for speed / distance generation and remove all thoughts of using my arms - I still use a very very very very slight wrist set at the end of the back rotation and then a gradual wrist release on the downswing as that seems to generate the cleanist strikes - the 'other' technique I used on my road to recovery was the toe down technique I saw Greg Normal teach decades ago (it works every time and you will never miss a chip again) - this technique involves choking down the club as much as possible until you make your putter's shaft vertical (and basically into a putter), with the sole of the club no longer flat to the ground, but instead you are not going to chip with the upside down triangular lower corner of wedge - you basically stand the lower corner of the club on the ground and then choke up as much as necessary so that your arms are straight such that it is impossible to hit the ball thin or chunk it - ie you don't chunk a putter do you? - so you can't chunk this chip shot - you then you your wedge this way to chip - and it is amazing how easy and how well and how much confidence you can get chipping this way - Greg Normal taught this technique to use if the ball was resting down slightly in a depression in the ground as it would help you hit the ball very cleanly - it is a fantastic technique for chipping and running and I use it all the time in all situations now

Who tricked our minds to do that? Maybe it's the thought that by leaning back we have a better chance of a nice loft but ends up duffing or topping the ball on contact. Erase erase...

All excellent tips on chipping Peter! I've viewed you a lot on You Tube playing different courses and trying out different clubs, but this is the first teaching video of yours that I have viewed. This week I was chunking my short chips just off of the green with my wedges. As you mentioned, I probably was not utilizing the bounce and my takeaway was wrong. Now I know! I have been utilizing the 5 wood option and it has worked great. Good Job Peter!

Not foolproof but the huge improvement, which in turn builds confidence, which helps again! Great material, and production. Thanks Peter.

Hi Pete! For me, my chipping became much better after watching Rick's video "5 Different Ways To Use A Hybrid On The Golf Course". On shots like you were showing, I would normally "putt" with a 7 or 8 iron, with decent success. Once I started "putting" with the hybrid, I started leaving them REALLY close and have had more chip ins with this method. Of course, you have to see the line! :)

Pete....I thought you had finally nailed the teaching process, but then you diverted. All well and good seeing how to play a shot correctly, we've all seen that. The most effective method is to first show the incorrect way, duffing or skulling, because we have all done it, but we don't always see it from a third person perspective....and then show the difference that the correct way looks like. Cheers

The thing that stopped me from chunking chips was finding a wedge with a rounded off front edge on the sole. The ones with a sharp front edge have a tendancy to catch the ground if you come in too steeply. Some cobra irons have this, I don't know about others.
