i genuinely love my cheesy holiday decor.. i even do the classic red, green, white, & silver color scheme.. but i will say i only chose to go that route bc i want my kids to have the classic christmas growing up & i feel like having it look like christmas threw up everywhere helps get the little ones in the christmas spirit. i remember being young and getting so excited when it came time to get the christmas decor down from the attic every year. perhaps when they get older i’ll switch things up to a more simple sophisticated style, but im totally reliving my childhood with my babies for now.

Yes, you need to do a video on transforming Home Goods paintings into beautiful artwork. I would love to attempt that myself. I really enjoyed seeing a snippet of Jack shopping. By all means, do a followup video about candles and furniture at Home Goods. I have learned so much from you Valentina and have changed what I purchase. YES!! Please. I have a 60 x45 art piece with a beautiful wide wood frame but I'm not feeling the abstract canvas art anymore and this is real artwork from a Scottsdale gallery. I tried selling it but no one wants the wam red and gold colors, so would be great if I can just paint over it myself!

I had a friend way back when who's mother highly encouraged her to work at HomeGoods for her first job. The reason behind the tenacity of her mom was so her daughters employee discount 😆. Great tips by the way. The glitter......it's the confetti of hatred.

1) I buy frames at HG and just put my own prints & artwork in them! They are affordable with matting and you can find the frames in different sizes. 2) I have seen Turkish style towels and pure linen sheets sets at HG- It's all about keeping your eyes open!

I scored a gorgeous lamp at home goods last week. I don’t know how people missed it. It was on sale for $119, pricey for them, maybe that’s why? When I got home I looked it up online and it retails for $499. Now I need to find a second one!

Keep looking - I have 4 HomeGoods in my area and several years ago, I needed to match a lamp - it took a few trips over a few weeks, but I found the matching lamp. They were knockoffs of Restoration Hardware lamps - good score! They are also great for Ralph Lauren blue and white lamps.

Same! Found two tall double bulb, reeded gourd lamps in a matte gold finish with designer tags on Clearance! for $75 each (no shades, but I had the perfect set at home). Found them online using the designer name, still available for $650 each (shades were extra). They instantly elevated our master bedroom look.

Pro Tip: I grew up in a home where we lit candles every day at the dinner table whether we were having pizza or surf and turf. So with that being said… I always look after the holidays, Most stores significantly reduce the price on “holiday” candles… a matter of fact I just picked up beautiful beige and brown tapered candles at 70% off!

It’s absolutely the thrill of the hunt that brings me back to HomeGoods over and over and over again. I always make sure to look in sections that aren’t necessarily my taste, like for instance nautical, because a gem might be hiding there that when removed doesn’t read nautical. I found the most stunning, soft, leather, woven, throw pillows. Down filled. Amazing quality. I believe they were $120 for a set. I regret not grabbing them. You can definitely find quality pillows every so often.

I just bought a king sized white coverlet made in Portugal, and 2 diferent colored soft fringed oversized throws, 54 X 70 also made in Portugal , Portugal is known for their quality bed products.

Agree! I bought the Portuguese all cotton sheets online (TJMaxx) on clearance, king 4 pc set in crisp white for $45!!😲 🎊 I love them. I thought they might be "crunchy," but the more they are washed, the softer they get! Definitely good linens! They sell nice Portuguese planters as well.

My best Homegoods find was a Le Creuset enameled cast iron pan! I use it every single day. It lives on my cooktop and works as decor as well. Hands down the best $120 I’ve ever spent. The same pan sell for $399-425 at Crate and Barrel.

Yes! I found a classic red Le Creuset Dutch Oven last year for $199!! I had been eyeing one for several years but couldn't bring myself to pay $300-$400 for a pot. I couldn't believe my eyes when I spotted it. No chips or dents. It lives on my stove top as decor and I use it weekly!

I used to shop Home Goods but, I tend to want unique items in my older years. Too much commercial mass produced items for me. I am more into quality and unique than quanity. We have a small house. Smaller spaces force you to edit. Currently editing furniture lol you know us maxi's ! Another great video. I'm gonna cry! I have many of those don't buy pieces that i purchased through out the years and even before watching this video I have been thinking what I am going tovdo with them. The thing is my design/decor taste has changed drastically since covid. I used to follow a "glam" page on IG and always felt the urge to buy those glam, glittery, tacky pieces. Now I find more piece and sense of self in modern, minimalist design.

I agree & wish you would of added furniture. I have 4 dinning room chairs & a very recent living room chair I purchased also from Home Goods. All was priced reasonably. Sometimes you want to see furniture in person & not buy from pictures on say, Wayfair.

Hi Valentina, I agree with your assessment of HomeGoods. Since the pandemic and supply line challenges its been touch and go. I feel like the small furniture. lamps. mirrors and rugs are still not where they were pre pandemic. Its a slow road back unfortunately. Speaking of funny, I have cats and was like-if I have to have these litter boxes in my beautiful bathroom, I’m going to acknowledge/make fun of that, so I put a sign right above their boxes that says, “Do Not Disturb.” I almost glued “His” and “Hers” parisian-style metal signs on them instead. Little things like that just make me laugh because it’s done in an ironic way like you said. 😂

I'm not one for the glitteratti or bling, but if its clear people are buying the things with glitter then why can't you just let them have their glitter. Not try to just have things that you might like. For instance, one might find that giant vase quite tacky.....but apparently some of y'all like it. The comment "if you're smart" is pretty offensive, regarding people's taste. So if it's not tacky to you, then its definitely NOT tacky to any one. 🤣

I love to decorate and can appreciate others taste and their creativity but I honestly find myself sometimes thinking I'm doing the wrong thing or selecting the wrong items because it's not current - most designers think they are experts and have excellent taste but that is definitely not true! It is so easy to be influenced by others! At the end of the day I do what I like !

Thanks again Valentina in this great lesson of glitter and you need an additional video. I love Home Goods. I found a perfect sweet ottoman there last week. I wanted two. I put this one in my bathroom with folded towels on it just outside of my walk in marble shower. It looks fabulous but I wanted two to add outside my other walk-in marble shower. So I spent an entire afternoon calling every surrounding in a 100-mile rasius looking for another. Nope don’t have it! I have never bought anything with sayings on. I hated that from the get go and you’ll never find in my house. I think this was a great video with perfect reminders and I always get a laugh out of people looking at that glitter stuff while it’s falling all over their clothes and face!

I have never been a fan of anything “themed” and I don’t follow trend. I found myself gravitating more towards the one-of-a-kind items, pieces that are timeless. I find that even though I love HomeGoods, I like shopping at stores that are small business owners.

Yes HomeGoods is about the thrill of the hunt. There really are treasures in every department but you have to have the patience to look for them. The more abundant stuff is usually what I avoid. The art definitely can be a good score especially if you don’t like the frame or it’s a lesser quality you can thrift something more high end and swap it . But these things take time so you have to be patient!

I think some people on here are mistaking your advice as rules, my understanding is that you are advising on stylish things that will stand the test of time. I personally would avoid the glitter and the black vase but I always enjoy your advice about style and realise that perhaps some stylish things are not for me but 90 percent of your stylish advice has given me a stylish home

I hate Christmas decorations. My tree is matching my decor. It’s overwhelming to have that stuff. I did it for the kids. But now they are on their own so now I can stop😍. Very simplistic and classic. My gaudy stuff is staying in the box’s collecting dust. I bought modern art framed. I’m not thrilled with from Amazon. I plan on painting on them. Add, play with it. Thrift stores is another place to buy massive size canvases to paint over. Done it multiple times.

I was on my family reunion in Muskegon and went home goods, and saw the most beautiful floor mirror for $119, gold guilted, 9 ft tall, and I knew I had to have it. I laid in my bed at the hotel thinking about it, and my husband told me to get it. I already had one I got from Crates and Barrel for $400+ . I found another room for that mirror and bought the new one. So happy I did😊

Liquitex is my favorite low odor acrylic paint, the Basics line is affordable and good coverage. Titanium white, Mars Black (Neutral black), Neutral Gray, Raw Umber, Yellow Ochre are great colors for a neutral painting. Apple Barrel white and black flow very well and are really affordable.

Glitter, bling, ornate, gold, mirror, overtly theme (sun flower and shells), writing and sign are just some to move away from that tacky cheesy theming decor. It’s hard for beginners to get their head around this. But all so true.

I found a couple of lamps at home goods that looked EXACTLY like a current one at Restoration hardware. Literally, no difference. It’s definitely hit or miss there, but I do go to Home Goods once a week. Lol
