Im pretty far left, and i can agree with the sentiment. If you call every conservative alt-right the term loses meaning. Edit: I misspelled loses as looses
First of all, I’m sorry to hear about your financial troubles. I would donate to your Patreon if I could, but money is tight right now on my end. I nevertheless wish you the best in that endeavor. Secondly, I’m curious as to what you find so appealing about Kamala Harris specifically. Why do you think her policy positions are what’s best for America? I know you voted for Gary Johnson in 2016 and have described yourself as a libertarian in the past, so why pick her over the Libertarian Party candidate Chase Oliver? IMO he would espouse many of the same socially liberal policies that you favor while also being more fiscally responsible. Lastly, I find it ironic that that preacher called ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ Satanic when that movie has been interpreted by many as a reactionary text.
Well-said! It certainly would help if people in the middle could understand that they have more in common with each other than they do with people on the extreme ends. However, in many cases, the far right have come into power because the economic situation was intolerable for voters who took it out on the incumbents and the far-right happened to be the non-incumbents. For example, historians Peter Hayes and Richard Evans have shown that the Nazis got the votes that they did in 1932 because of the Depression and not because people were anti-Semitic. In fact, Evans and Christopher Browning point out that more people became anti-Semites because they became Nazis rather than the other way around. Also, in the recent German elections in Thuringia, the far-right won, in part, because the current incumbent national government forced everyone to buy expensive heat pumps. On a related note, it is important not to overstate the significance of the far-right's victory in Thuringia. Thuringia, at 1 million people, is not a large state, compared to North Rhine-Westphalia (17 million) and Bavaria (14 million), where support for the far-right is much less. It is quite possible, unfortunately, that the outcome in November in America will very much be a function of "What do gas and groceries cost in October?" more than anything else. On the brighter side, *Mitzi* !!!!! 😻😻😻😻😻
I became incredibly frustrated with what I referred to as (borrowing the term) 'leftist anti-marketing' between 2012 and 2014. For whatever reason, it seemed highly intuitive to many on the vocal left that making people angry was tautologous with progress, in direct opposition to coalition building.
Hey been following for awhile. Was wondering if you heard of the Black Hebrew Israelite Movement? If so I was wondering what your thoughts were about it?
I'm a Hillsdale grad, son of a banking family. Supported the War in Iraq, love Sir Roger Scruton, Burke, and James Burnham. I voted for Mitt, Johnson, and the Ghost of Silent Cal as a write-in. I don't consider myself in any way similar to the average Trump voter. We probably wouldn't even have much in common, and I would find it hard to relate to them. I'm an atheist. I might vote for Trump because the alternative is unthinkable.
this is very good and helpful for distinguishing the finer shades of conservative political philosophies and such, because if you don't pay close enough attention to what people are identifying with, then you'll miss important context clues which could actually help de-escalate conversations with respect. thank you for sharing your thoughts!
Hey Jordan, slight change of subject, but has your opinion on Roosh V changed at all? Not that I disagree with your scepticism but last year he shut down his forum and even shut down Return of Kings.
