I sweep a Magic the Gathering Online Legacy league, collecting the undefeated 5-0 trophy with Orthanc Deliberation Bant Control, a brew challenge from Patreon subscriber CCAntman. I was challenged to put Council's Deliberation, the new Scry payoff engine from Lord of the Rings, to work in Legacy. In BoshNRoll signature fashion I went for an Uro, Titan of Nature's Wrath shell with graveyard synergy including Life from the Loam and Shark Typhoon with Hall of Heliod's Generosity. Palantir of Orthanc is both a scry and self-mill enabler, generating card advantage and slowly killing opponents. Stop, deliberate and listen! MTG LotR

At 26:33, the uro line you took had a really high chance of working since with the endurance and the palantir in hand, there were only four cards left in the deck that were not outs to the dreadnaught/daze off the uro draw.(the one copy each of endurance, plantir, loam, and paradox zone) With 42 cards in your deck at the time you had 90.48% chance to draw an out (land to play around daze/blue card for force/white card to remove dreadnaught next turn after chumping). With the possibility that they don't even have daze in hand I think it was worth going for this play even though it didn't work out since if you draw blue card you would be insulated against all the other possible interaction.

Now I love Paradox Zone, but I think Lorien Revealed may be a more reasonable way to shoehorn in a 5-mana spell to dome the opponent.

If I wasn't required by the challenge to play Council's Deliberation, I think Lorien Revealed is a great sub-engine in a Palantir Bant list.

Another advantage of Zagoth Triome over Raugrin: you can cast the surgical extractions in the sideboard for mana if it's necessary. Not a huge deal, but it can be the difference between life and death.

Paradox Zone is a monster in EDH along side The Ozolith. The tokens supercharge it and mean that even if they are removed their power isn't gone forever.

I really suspect that if you had 6 mana, and your hand was 3 Force of Will, a Shark Typhoon, and 3 Blue cards that don't do anything in the matchup... you'd still make the 4/4 shark.

Congrats! Great league great video 😎😎😎 For what it’s worth I liked the Pzone and palantir ball. I think those are neat win cons that most opponents won’t be expecting. And I’m not sure if you mentioned this in the deck tech, but it seems like pzone dodges a lot of the removal people have for the 1 ring. I dig it.

I watch every one of your Legacy videos and almost always watch them to the end. I used to wish there were no trophy spoilers, but recently I've found i have extra excitement about them. I've learned to be much more disciplined with my Shark Typhoons from watching your content. Every part of my body wants to cast it to get the long term value, but i see the truth now. Great video.

Amazing league. One cool thing I saw: Round 4 game 2 one line was forcing chalice + chrome mox in response to the mox trigger, then untapping and ending the last chalice.

2 options for the deck (leaving for you tô decide whether they deserve the spot): Lorien (Just good and plays Nice with orchand) and opt (obvious but i do think it's Fine in low numbers Just to trigger counsil) I can't think of a Nice card to discard the counsil but it's nice to note it doesnt need to be cast. Maybe in a ledger shredder brew?

In your review at the end you made a few comments that I would like to have a further think about: 1) you chose to switch to zagoth triome and said black vs red didn't matter because you aren't splashing red. I would argue ketria is better because of how frequent red splashes are these days. It makes your opponent at least think about playing around minsc and boo and red blast to a lesser degree. It's free to do but has real possibilities for your opponent to consider. 2) It felt like the deck might have just been short a mana producing land beyond just a green source. There were multiple games where you ran out of fetchables, and maybe that is the cost of doing business, but it felt like maybe cutting a fetchland for a fetchable felt correct. I would love to hear your thoughts

Yeah it should probably be Ketria, I had the same thought after I wrapped the video. Kinda just forgot there's another UG-X triome and bluffing red is better than bluffing black. As far as adding mana, the council's deliberations were for the challenge I was set, not because they are excellent. Probably just nixing the scry plan, play Ponders over preordain, open 3 slots from delib, and stick with Palantir because it still rules is a good way to go.

At 1:22:18, does it make sense to Force of Vigor the Chrome Mox and one Chalice in response to the Mox ETB trigger? Then you can keep them off 3 and also Prismatic End the other Chalice?

He can't cast Force because he doesn't have a green card to pitch to it. If he could cast Force then your line would have been good because it completely unlocks this otherwise dead hand. They do get to keep the Archon that they put under Mox but that's better than the potential to get locked under Magus like he did. If the Force would put you in a losing situation such as being left with only 1 card in hand vs their 2 I wouldn't go for it since the probability of them having Magus in hand is low so you should make them have it in this situation. I would rather untap and hard cast Force on the both Chalice and play a 3 card hand vs a 1 card hand even if they do cast the Magus because I wouldn't want to pitch the other green card since Magus locks us off white until we find our Plains. However, after everything is done in the actual game, you would be left with 3 cards in hand with a cantrip vs their 2 cards, so you would be doing well regardless of whether they had the Magus or not.

Yes. They are different cards that reward you for different things. This deck would be much worse with 3 predict than it is with 3 deliberations.
