I'm not sure what rank you're talking about, because this video seems targeted at lower ranks, but preflipping into a shot or catch for an air dribble isn't very difficult imo

@@rednyte6155 I agree that for most of the higher ranks, it isn't particularly difficult, but for people first learning off the wall shots (say plat or diamond), it adds unnecessary complexity, and often robs all power off the shot, especially if the pre-flip is to cover a mistake, rather than the plan all along. Ideally for a power shot off wall, you want to time your takeoff so you're decently close, and can time the flip for max power. A beginner should focus first on being able to time their takeoff such that they only need a slight air roll adjustment/boost to get in the right spot. Once they are comfortable with that, they can play around with it and add some variability. I absolutely agree that a pre-flip catch off wall is an awesome tool to have, but it should be intentional.

Take my advice with a grain of salt because I never give any, try to go under the ball to hit it up for a ceiling shot on net. Or adjust your play to slow the ball and bring it middle. Or play for the 50/50 from opponent. Hope this helps

Ur overthinking it once you airroll off the wall ur on then you should just fly normal

Air roll doesn't actually move you laterally, so you wouldn't use right air roll off the left wall to get closer to the midfield. If the ball is a bit low and you wanted to get some height off your shot, you could use opposite air roll to get upside down, and a forward dodge at that point would lift the ball a bit. I would stick to left air roll off of left wall until you're super comfortable with it, and want to put some variation in your shots.

Oh I think ik what you're talking about. I usually do preflip air dribbles to zoom the ball through early challenges and the midfield. You need really solid mechs for that though.

If I understand correctly, then I can agree with everyone else that you’re overthinking/would be making it harder on yourself doing so. If you’re high Champ-GC rank, you could experiment flying at the ball with your underside facing up to mix up shots for a flip reset, maybe perhaps certain double taps but seriously, I believe you’d be a lot more consistent flying at the ball the way Luke is explaining here. :) Left wall, air roll left. Right wall, air roll right.

Go into the "Pillars" map in freeplay and practice doing figure 8's around the pillars. This will force you to use air roll

@@cedruzbiron1475 if your focus in ranking up, you don't really need air roll at all in diamond. I'm Champ 1 and can barely air roll, can't air dribble. I can just consistently hit aerials if I need to. Watching Flakes on RU-vid helped me rank up the most, he teaches how to have a solid ground game and how to read your opponents

Up to you. I recommend having free air roll and at least one directional bound. You can use the directional air roll for one wall and the free air roll for the other, or free air roll for both, or if your like me, I have both left and right directional air roll AND free air roll bound and use all 3 interchangeably based on the scenario

@@colematney9809 i use an Xbox controller btw, so i have free air roll and power-slide bound to LB (L1 for PS), air roll left on X (Square for PS), and air roll right on B (Circle for PS)
