Nigerian prince, you say? They are just too, too dreamy. I'm dating one right now, but we've never met in person. I've sent him $10,000 dollars, but it's fine because he's using it to unlock his inheritance of 10 million blood diamonds.
By definition you cannot skip “breakfast” since by definition it’s the first meal after your fast, no matter when it’s eaten or when the fast occurred.
Yeah, I eat around 12-4-8 for the most part, with a coffee with protein milk in the morning, and I call the 12 o'clock meal breakfasts because that's what it is.
I think we can all agree that if someone says theyre skipping breakfast that will generally mean theyre not having a morning meal . Then again if youre an absolute chump you could hit them with the 'actual' definition.
@@torstrasburg8289 its not only him, I stumble on a youtuber who had 7 million subscribers don't remember is name for alpha male content and how to raise your testosterone naturally. Is advise was wrong. People want an easy way out today they don't want to be told the truth.
What he says about having a lot of energy was taken out of context. He didn’t specifically say he has energy in the morning. He doesn’t eat breakfast his first meal is about 1pm
I've been a vegetarian for 40 years and definitely NOT a low-carber. I doubt that any of us know anyone who has gotten fat from eating too many black beans, sweet potatoes, and oatmeal. And I believe the evidence you show, Layne, about glucose and insulin not being the devil. But....I know that simple sugars can also cause me to go on a bender. For instance, I am just almost over a two-month bender that started with Great Grains Maple pecan and ended with Lucky Charms 😒 So I don't know what the mechanism is that makes me crave bowl after bowl, but it has wreaked havoc and caused me to gain 8 lbs on my small frame. The bottom line is, the more sugar you have, the more you want.
Chugging flavorless pasteurized liquid egg whites is the most important meal of the day. Whatever it takes, but seriously some high protein breakfast not gonna hurt.
Perhaps but I doubt it with his level of body fat unless he contracted type 1 late in life. I don't know what Eddie considers high bg but it is a relative term so he may be calling 90 mg/DL high when it is definitely not diabetic. But that's just a guess.
Doesn’t work for me, tried eating at 12 and even 1 the headaches and crap workouts were getting me nowhere Big bowl of high carb oats and sugar for breaky has given me more results, as I can train harder and longer now, I just eat less at night and throw in some light night cardio
If your blood sugar is high when you wake up.. that means you have unregulated diabetes.. the morning blood sugar is one of the main diagnostics for diabetes because it should be the lowest at any point when you haven't eaten for 10 hours..
Actually your body gives you a blood sugar jag as soon as you wake up ,certain hormones increase giving you more elevated sugar first thing in the morning so its not always a sign of diabetes.
He got high blood sugar because Eddie is insulin resistant from all that fat he’s eating. It’s pretty simple honesty. Your body gets less efficient at processing carbs if you stop eating them. So Eddie is simply carbohydrate resistant. Carbs aren’t bad, he just ran away with the idea that carbs are bad.
Ive never seen eddie making videos about you or any other guys so why you after him cmon talk about what you know rather than hey listen to me not him its typical poor salesman behavior where they tell you buy this cause were better than them or theyre bad were good approach so stfu
I was scared of eating bananas for 5 years because of all the BLOOD SUGAR SPIKES fear-mongering. Now I'm eating them again and they make me so happy. Thank you for helping my black-and-white thinking, Layne.
@@thayer750 😅 Peanut butter is food of the gods. ❤ My dad used to eat peanut butter on bananas. I'm not a big fan of bananas ... but I love berries and mango .
This is a very high proportion of people, depending how you define serious. Personally I think even a mild eating disorder is a serious problem. The more I learn, the more I can see disordered eating in my history.
In the morning, glucagon and cortisol are high, you might feel energetic, because your body is eating itself. Perhaps breakfast needs to rebrand itself to Buildfast, swole in every bowl.
I haven't eaten breakfast for 60+ years. Never have wanted any food in the morning. At 71 it has never hurt me to eat only if and when I am hungry. The idea of breakfast being a most important meal of the day is an old marketing ploy. Eat if you're hungry and eat quality. Not sugar laden junk.
If anyone tells you nutrition advice that is common sense, boring, and simple, that is correct advice. These influencers make nutrition so complicated that you become more confuse than before. People have trouble being healthy and fit because of these fads and hypes. I was at my worst when I ignored the fundamentals and tried exotic nutrition trends. Keep it simple, respect the fundamentals, and create your own lifestyle
I find if I skip breakfast and fast for 16 hours then it’s easy for me to lose weight! If I eat breakfast then all I want to do for the rest of the day is just eat food! Each to their own I guess.
You’re not skipping breakfast. You’re skipping the time you and most people typically eat breakfast. However, you are Breaking-your-fast 16 hours after you last ate, at whatever time that may be

There is something to be said about not being hungry in the morning. People who brag about not being hungry in the morning dont realize this means you were likely not in a calories deficit the day before. If your diet is failing to create a calorie deficit, you need to make adjustments. Eating hi fat, hi calorie foods doesn't help you create a deficit either, like eggs, avocados, nuts.
I'd be curious to know how high his bg actually is. High is a relative term so maybe a perfectly normal bg is high to him. Don't really know. There is an interesting strategy called data driven fasting where you time your meals based on your bg. If your bg is truley high (> 100 mg/DL) it definitely doesn't hurt to fast for a little while to burn off that extra glucose.
Honestly, having late breakfast around 12 is perfectly fine for me, I don't work in a physically intensive job, I have a morning coffee that has half a liter of milk (high protein enriched milk with no sugar) in it anyway, and that's enough. But when I was working in construction as a kid to make some quick cash, I was starving at 9am. Literally my hands were shaking with how low my blood sugar would get by the time we were served breakfast 😂
How many of you guys criticising him look as good as him at his age. The proof is in the pudding. I personally have lost loads of weight from cutting the rubbish food.

@Dr. Layne Norton Excuse me, young man,Dr. Eddie Abbew has a PhD in human biology and chemistry from Wankanda University in Haiti but unfortunately, it burned down,so he had to print out his own PhD.
At this point I've stopped giving a shit about expert opinion It's like every decade they're pretty sure about what's bad and good(based on data) only for another few decades down the line to realise that they were infact not

Breakfast is relative in conversations. In my conversations it means my first meal of the day after sleeping (not napping) regardless of what time of day that is. So how can I 'stop eating' eat my first meal of the day?
@@mindyourbuisness8104 There's at least two of us. The literal meaning is "breaking the fast", so that's very hard to avoid, unless you've had your last meal ever.
I personally do not eat breakfast because im usually not hungry when i wake up and prefer eating more at dinner but its crazy people cant just say that and have to make up about eating at one specific time being bad for you.
Lol yeah never breaking your fast should keep you losing body mass until you die (ik he just meals push back your breakfast until later in the day, still stupid)
Your body makes glucose naturally. I think he means the glucose that your body makes naturally in the morning is good enough and u dont need to add extra glucose from junk cereals.
What you eat as well as the quantity of it determines your body composition in 99.9 percent of people. Calories in vs calories out is all that matters.
Eating high carb and low fat diets might help one lose more fat, but they're harder to adhere to if you're on a deficit and below 1g fat : 1 kg body weight. For example I was having terrible binge habits when I was eating 0.39g : 1 kg body weight
I know that this new overly sarcastic, super animated style of yours for presenting your material entertains people who have the attention span of a gnat, but frankly brother, some of us see it as childish, boorish, and completely unnecessary. You have a PhD, and you obviously walk your talk because you're in great shape. Plus, you're a handsome man. Isn't all of that enough? Let your information speak for itself. Enough with the pandering to idiots.
Hi Layne, quick question. Does short 10 sec cold shower has detremental impact on muscle growth? I want to do this in order to train my discipline and overcome pussyness, thx
Issue is nowadays. People think they know more than actual professionals who have put years into their chosen fields because they have google at hand. And that poses the question. Who do we trust with providing us information?
Blood glucose being high, if truly high in the morning, is due to insulin resistance and developing diabetes. It's the exact opposite of healthy physiology
Love you and this video, but that first study wasnt showing that protein raised glucose, it was showing the effect of pairing protein with glucose (as diabetics often do), and actually found a reduction in the spike of blood sugar by adding protein.
Yeah I had a hard time understanding what that study was showing. It seems part of it wasn't on the screen. I do know we need insulin for protein. Since I am insulin dependent myself I have to inject roughly half as much insulin for protein as I do for non-fiber carbohydrate. For the longest time I thought I only needed to inject fot carbohydrate but that clearly is not true.
He says bread additives are bad but has spent his whole life slamming a pharmacy of anabolics and now just has a saggy TRT body and moans in supermarkets.
He has said in a video he used to eat 6 meals a day to get in shape for contest. So clearly eating multiple meals doesnt hinder fat lose haha. Hes so full of shit
I don't eat breakfast because I'm usually not hungry, and because if I do, then I am starving all day long and end up eating more calories than I should.
Hi Dr Norton! I just started following your channel after hearing you on Dr Attia’s podcast and with Thomas DeLauer as well. I am learning so much! I love your enthusiasm--and you make me laugh (in a good way) a lot of the time. Thank you for explaining the science and studies about all things nutrition and health in a way we can understand.
Can't use the beef study as evidence as it compared beef and glucose v glucose on its own. Of course beef and glucose together would elicit a different response given there's more calories in the meal. Not sure why Layne referenced this
