I love this ep. so much. Most foreigners afraid of trying the unpopular dishes. But tons of incredible dishes are waiting to explore. Thanks again Gary.
Maaate!! That was pure torture watching that in Christchurch, NZ. Noodles are my Kryptonite. You know I've added all those pins for my next visit and hopefully you can join me to get the full experience. I might need to hire your services for a full month to get round all those Bangkok delights!
Quality video Gary. I've never seen these three noodle dishes and I'm no novice. Thank you for sharing mate. You are absolutely smashing the videos at the moment. Keep up the great work. Cheers! Ozzy
your food vlogs are bringing me to Thailand. Trip planned Sept. I'm using your vlogs to hit the food favorites in and around Bangkok. Thanks so much. I hope to see you somewhere along the food alleys.
Looks delicious, they are all my favorite noodle you ate today too. As a Thai I would eat without chili or Vinegar first,so you will taste the original . You dont need to put so much chili for everything. Too much of these Vinegar might caused you a problem oneday. Take care. Thank you for the goodies clip.
Pad Thai is okay but the sellers using cheap sauces are not so good, and unfortunately, as with most street sellers and small restaurants, regardless of the food served, cheap sauce dominates.
*Great video Gary.* Everything looks amazing and tasty. I do like my Pad Thai, but totally open to trying new things! I will have to try some of these places next time I am in Bangkok. Most things are better after a few beers mate! hahaha. Always look forward to you videos.
I've only been to Thailand once a long time back, and got stuck on the Pad Thai roundabout (or often second rate places with English menus) largely through not speaking a word or understanding Thai script. I never really knew what I was ordering. At some places you could get away with the old point at a photo but that only works in touristed places (to be fair, that's basically where I went to) and you only know what it looks like. Its probably a bit easier these days with translation apps on phones. These types of videos are great for those of us farang without a clue, though I would still be stuck with trying to pronounce anything. The Kuay Teow Kua Gai looked really good, and different.
Words fail me, I could literally eat two bowls of the first dish mate with no ice cream desert to follow 😏But you helping out the Tuk Tuk driver not trying to rip you off .Priceless 🙏
You are a local now ! I'm Thai and my favourite is Pad Si Ew. I hardly eat Pad Thai at all but I love Hoi Todd the one that normally selling together with Pad Thai. I also like Pad Ki Mao and Kua Gai. Your choices are just bang on, very impressive indeed 👏
The only limitation why this menu was not on the restaurant because it must be cook with charcoal and a little bit smoked flavor must have in this recipe and yeah it a very unique and skilled one to cook. If you try and they are not with the requirement above they are totally fake "ก๋วยเตี๋ยวคั่วไก่" (คั่ว = cook with burning pan with charcoal heat for smoke flavor.)
Allow me name you "Gary shuan shim" means Gary invites to taste food. It is amazing that your channel inspires Thai like me to explore more Thai street food. Thank you for helping my government promote our tourism. Thank you.
Good recommendation Gary, and I especially like the last place near Wat Arun temple - looks delicious. Can you also please cover a few good places in Bangkok where we can have pad ko rat. Recently there is a new restaurant that I tried in my city that offers this supposed to be cousin to the famous pad Thai and I do like it. I'd like to know a bit more on this rare stir-fried noodle from Thailand. Thanks.
Kua Gai is not just a food, it's a piece of art. Whenever my foreign homies visit Thailand for the first time, rather than Pad Thai...Kua Gai will be the first dish I proudly introduce to them.
Just a trip to Thailand for food is already worthy to come. This time is so hot on the western side, here is perfect to walk around exploring for food….
Awesome video Gary! Have you tried Pad Mee Korat (similar to Pad Thai but spicier and more flavourful in my opinion) before? If so, do you know anywhere selling this in Bangkok?
Yes back in times Pad Thai was old history national dish food that was forgotten and came back strong with tourism foreigners try this popular food, but for thai local people food for us will be Pad krapao, kao geng, noodles soup, som tam etc..😅🙏🏻
Pa Pien is visited by the new Bangkok governor a few days ago. Surely this stall will be busy for a long time. The new Bangkok governor has just been elected and very popular now 😊.
For me as Bangkokian , Pad Thai is a major stir fried noodle dish that hard to find in Bangkok . Plus, hard to find a good taste one too. Personally, I recommend Pad See Ew , Kua Gai or Pad Kee Mao when visiting Bangkok.
This I would say is the new version of Pad Kee Mao. I have never seen this noodle before. It looks so delicious. Gary, you may be the only one that do video down to the heart of Thai street food.
Thank you for that one. All these places are absolutely amazing. Just love to see how they are cooking on charcoal stoves and stir-frying everything with pork lard to get a foundation of flavour... Wonderful.
Hey Gary, the Kua gai place deserves a closer look sometime. Woke up hungary and saw this vid and was absolutely cursing you. When I've found places like this shop/street/alley I tend to go back everyday for awhile, 555. Another vid to keep me watching, well done
Oh my god! I'm Thai, but when I first saw you eating chili powder at the restaurant It's a lot for normal Thai people. Of course, I can't eat that spicy like you do. Damn. Are you really a foreigner? 🥵
Can somebody please post the link to the '5 best Pad Thai in Bangkok' video that was supposed to have been uploaded 'soon' which would have been at least 10 months ago? I tried searching this channel without success. So maybe the video has a different title.
I'm guessing 'Auntie Pien' is actually 'Auntie Pi Ann' ... 'Pi' being a informal/honorific title for someone older than you or in a more important position ... but either way, those noodles look delicious. I agree, put down that Pad Thai, there are so many tasty noodle dishes in Thailand!
Can't be done because... 1. national dish that's been promoted by the government since the start of thai restuarants in US 2. Most white people will order this dish because it's safe and familiar. They are not going to try papaya salad or khoa soi...fck no 3. They are many bad versions because there are many that are being made in thailand and laos. It increases with volume. 4. Most people will order this dish because they can't fcking pronounce the other dishes. And if the dish is translated, seeing ingredients like lemongrass will immediately turn them off 5. If you don't have pad thai on your menu you will most likely go out of business
This is exactly what I'm looking for. The dry egg noodle and big white rice noodle shops with gravy like the last dish. I always hit Lee's Noodle Thong Lo because I enjoy the extra variety of meat, e.g., crispy pork, duck, and crabmeat but now you've given me more places to try when i come back in sept. thanks a mil for this video.
@@theroamingcook Now Paa Pian is packed. The new governor of bangkok has recommended he told he like Kua kai Pa Pian .there is massive crowds waiting for her noodles.
Wow, not expect that foreigner knows these small street foods. They're so so great taste. You surprised me a lot, Great job! (ดีใจที่ชอบอาหารไทยครับ ขอบคุณสำหรับวิดีโอครับ)
as Thai people I want to reccommend that every fried noodles menu that fried by “nummunmoo” (lard) and topping with crispy pork..Is the best..That’s why I trust Mr. Gary Reccommend👍😍
Popular noodle dishes in Thailand are highly influenced by Chinese style from the early years when Chinese immigrants entering into Thailand...bringing their style. Me too not a huge fan of pad thai
I love all noodles but my preference is the second one, I saw about original Hong Kua Gai before with his daughter still did the cooking , these people must be their staffs. The last dish , I will pass but looking good 👍.
Excellent video! Loved learning about all 3. Definitely enjoyed learning about new dishes that are outside the norm. Keep it up! Can’t wait to try it when I get to BKK.
Hello Gary! Seen all three in previous vlogs. I do agree with you that these noodle dishes will rival your standard Pad Thai noodles. I remember one friend who educated me when I first visited LOS. We don't eat Pad Thai in a restaurant. We order in the street more better! Words of wisdom!😊👍✌
