THANKS FOR WATCHING I APPRECIATE YOU AND LETTING ME HELP YOUR GAME ✅ Watch me next ▶ Don't Turn The Hips On Your Backswing ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NwLto8x_Dtw.html
Your emphasis on making a swing, go through the ball, stop thinking, make it more fluid, and most important nog hitting at the ball, etc, makes a big difference, so thank you for that, unfourtenateley for my friends who are seeing a man playing better ;)
Have watched a lot of golf teaching videos (way too many). Alex concepts have freed up my mind from technical thoughts. "Forget the backswing" and focus "out there" was a very freeing thought. "Swing through" vs "hit at" was another. Dramatically better ballstriking incorporating several Alex ideas. This video was the best of them so far.
That’s super! It’s you doing the work and the right choices for your game right now… I just nudge towards it:) Through is so crucial but we all forget it too often !
Your website is like a breath of fresh air for me. I have been watching each and every golf video and ended up with 'paralysis by analysis'! When I was playing my best golf the thoughts were few and simple - and I gave myself TIME for everything to work in sequence as it should. Through your explanations and tips I have found the route back where I am having more time to swing/flo and not hit so will continue down this new pathway. AOSG rules!
Why thank you !!!! Too kind but very well done to you for getting back on track as it were! I hope to see you in one of our programs or in the online club one day!
Thanks Alex for making golf more simpler. I have watched all your videos and watched it again and I have implemented it to my golf and I have vastly improved.
Great video! Most of the time, I hit the ball thin with a tendency to “top the ball”, directionally straight, but trying to hit the ball instead of swinging and following through! I think it’s because I’m trying to help the club. This instruction and “keys to feel” will help me, so thank you very much.
If any further proof this is true is needed for some people... Search for a video of Rory going through the bag at the range. From wedges to monster drives, his knees touch and hold at his finish. As always Alex, wonderful approach to teaching and great advice.
I've been a baseball player most my life, pro level. When I took up golf, I struggled because I constantly tried to kill the ball. When I learned how to stay centered and took the swing thoughts out and just swung through naturally, it changed my game forever. I went from sky high 140 yard drives to 320 yard drives, consistently hitting approach shots, etc. As a mater of fact, I love this game so much that I'm trying to go pro someday and I'm only in year 1 of playing. Stumbling upon content like this assures me that I'm doing something right! Thank you, Alex! Do you sell any clothing? I'd love to show some support for all your hardwork!
Sounds like you are on the right path and our programs and Club can help you further. Love the goal you have. Enjoy the journey! Don;t get too bogged in technical, use your natural pattern you used for baseball and we just refine it a little
For years I've been erratic and my main fault is hitting at the ball.......my last 6 games have been just as erratic, but I've been swinging easy and swinging through and I've enjoyed every round, even the bad ones. So thanks Alex, I'm enjoying golf again and my actual game will improve I'm sure, I'm loving the new 'easy' mindset!
Well done. At the end of the day.. if you don’t enjoy it, what’s the. Moody point :) Just keep at it, have a couple of strong but simple feels to execute, try and practice a little and you will turn a corner very soon. Usually suggest to start with half swings to get back to solid consistency and build up
I love your videos. Your instruction is so clear and leaves out so much of the technical jargon a lot of other golf instruction videos have. I subscribed to your channel, it's the first time I've ever subscribed to anyone. I'm looking forward to learning from you. Thanks much.
Very good explanation Alex! This prevents the club handle going down the target line, allowing for the slingshot action of the club head as the handle goes around the body instead. Passive arms and light grip let the club behave as nature intended.😃😃
Saw this and subscribed - was a fan for years on Murray's "Golf Secret" but this takes the simplicity on to another level. Easy to follow, easy to apply. Brilliant.
@@TheArtofSimpleGolf I am left handed but have always played right handed golf so my left side has always been dominate in my swing. More golfers should work on their left side mobility and strength. I had two uncles who were PGA professionals and that's how they taught me to swing. I have always been a low handicap golfer.
Really simple but so useful, really interested in your comment on the right foot rotating force away that you didn’t go into,Milo Lines talked about it too without going into too much depth but think it was an important feel.great thoughts to have encourages a swing to the finish and everything follos
We are in lockdown where I am, so drills without a ball are always welcomed. This one has an instant feel of weight transfer and a level swing where you don’t focus on the ball it just gets in the way as you focus on the target. It should work with daunting long iron or fairway wood shots where you just coil the backswing, turn, then knees together and trust it. I’m very interested in the driver version to see where you discuss tee position and height, spine tilt and launch. Perhaps you don’t worry about any of that. I agree with the concept of one swing thought no matter the club.
Driver will for sure have some alterations... but not many. You might want to see the recent video with a few driver tips compiled. And yes, the no ball swings are really helpful. Get prepping for opening :) Glad you're with us!
Thankyou Mr Fortey. I think this is the feel I need. Been trying to workout why I hit my short clubs left and slice the rest when I don't feel like I'm coming over the top with my rear shoulder. But what I am doing is pushing me rear knee and in turn my hip out on like a 45 degree angle and I think my back knee is actually going past my front knee causing me to come over the top and across the ball. I've been making some good contact but everything goes left. I think I'm actually hitting like the back right of the ball instead of the back or the back left of the ball on an inside path. 👍🙂
Sounds like you are on the right road.what you could do is set the ball down with markings on the inside a bit to assist visual. Ball position may be too far forward too
Another great tip Alex - I’m definitely not rotating enough and am pretty much flat-footed at impact. I will be working on this at the range and let you know how I get on!
I haven’t stopped watching today, makes sense. So tied of try to hit like a professional, there is a reason they are on tour. I just want to be competitive. People must realise they are never going to play on tour.😔
I NEED this move... sadly, my swing has that little push from the back foot you mention, but I am VERY consistent in that it makes my shots consistently push-fade.
You then need feel that the lead leg pushes away behind you more like a thrust if possible. So it’s a push with rear, then the lead leg. If you are physically able etc.
3:25 what measurements of body parts give you the information to help us know our swing plane? For years I have struggled to “ swing thru the Ball John L😅
As usual a fantastic instructional video. As a older player your video's always seem helpful. I was wondering if you have on site instructional clinic's??
Thanks! We do in person lessons and are looking into a workshop and golf over a couple of days. COVID but stoppers in that. do have online lessons and out online membership too.
@@TheArtofSimpleGolf I am very interested in your workshop.. I live out of town and wondered how I might find out more information. Is there a online site that might give me more information or be able to send me emails of future workshops?
@@TheArtofSimpleGolf thanks, it is. Glad you mentioned Faldo, my golfing hero. I too read the books, videos etc. I really got in my own way at my modest level. Got stuck at 10 for almost 20 years, but lockdown gave me time to work on rotation properly after 30 years at it from starting at 33. Still a way to go, got down, but this "Faldo " finish is where I need to be. Thanks again 👍
Q: is there some precedent for the following? To keep acceleration going, my visual on the downswing is to pull my hands in a straight line, from the "top" of my back swing, through my shoulders to a point ahead of me on the target line (the top of my back swing is shoulder high due to injuries). Keeping the leading arm straight, then, prevents that straight line, contributing to a full and continuous swing. Feels good. Just don't know if it's the best I can do.
@@TheArtofSimpleGolf yeah, I didn't explain it well. Imagine a short backswing where your hands stop at about the height of your nose. Now imagine a line, starting at your hands, parallel to the ground and the target line. Then set a mental target along that line, a point that says, "This is where the swing actually stops." I've been stopping my swing at the low point which sets up deceleration too soon. This image tells my brain to tell my body to keep going. Alexa, tell Siri to tell Whirlpool to tell Delta...
Just found your channel. Love it! I'm a 60 year old golfer that just started the game 5 years ago. Also from Louisville! What course are you at and do you offer lessons?
@@TheArtofSimpleGolf I seem to keep down too long when I’m hitting my irons that’s why I don’t get enough height and not enough distance,I’ll have to try and push myself up and follow through
Looks like getting the compression aspect free from the roll-in of the right leg and foot.... soooo much easier than think about the upper body /arms/hands.. or am I wrong?
Yes. For sure... but... To a degree lol. A Golf swing is like a tightrope.. we go one way, then the next.. so it’s what feels are applicable to you right now. Only you can translate it and see the results. At times and for some even right now, more upper body and pointing chest down and rotate like a barrel through may be what they need. However from the ground up, usually helps most everyone
I have a massive problem hitting at the ball. I could not possibly stop my lovely flowing practice swing from finishing round the back of my neck (tried it once, nearly broke my hand) but once a ball is there, my 'follow through' barely reaches parallel.
If someone told you to throw your club as far as you could towards the target, you would naturally use your legs, and body to sling the arms, and hands. And, you would also finish facing the target. That little white ball scares the crap out of people, and they forget to just swing the club athletically, and naturally. You’ll have a few mishits at first, but you’ll be surprised how quickly you’ll get good at just turning it loose with confidence. It will result in effortless power, and a lot straighter ball flight. Trust me.
Been trying this for my last 2 rounds. I switch off from the swing by pulling down with my left thumb and driving through with my right hand “forfinger and thumb to a finnish. I Just concentrate on my two hands through the ball. Takes all the thourght pressure out of the golf swing. Playing much better off 18. 👍🏌️♂️
In some respect.. its more clearing out the way so it just gets pulled through rather than lashing as you say ;) thing is, pushing from right side can be a great feel for many too.
“the player you could have been..” 👀 have you ever thought about doing a video on your own golf journey and how that got you into teaching? (also great content man)
Appreciate that! Written a couple of articles on it, it’s in a few other materials for programs we have on the site... in a few interviews and podcasts too it’s covered a little... maybe I will :) Just not seen how it could help others as much as I’d like... But it’s why the Art of simple golf was born. It’s what turned me off the game for a few years and stopped playing any. And the fact that I still endevour and try to not overthink or tinker too much... with what I do... I learn and see and research and teach... it’s harder for me personally to block 99% of it out to my own game. So it spurs me on to help the hundreds of thousands of golfers we have so far. But is short, perhaps I will make a video of who I am and what happened etc. :) Cheers!
@@TheArtofSimpleGolf Right on, I’m always interested in the back stories. I’m a plus handicap in Florida getting the game ready to hop back into the tournament scene after a long layoff. I figure I need to do it now before my body won’t let me do it down the road.
Thanks look forward to it hope Jodie will not get into trouble from Mac but if he is not going to put out a morad book we need to understand what he was coaching the coach’s if we want to learn his method which I am enjoying trying to get from what has been put on you tube so far.
On the half swing, when you're coming through, your club face is extremely open and may cause less suspecting amateurs to think this is the correct finish feel. The club head at the drills finish position needs to be with the toe pointing to the sky or even closed to the left.
Am I the only one who can't do this drill ? I struggle with follow through after impact and fold my arms. It's ugly, I hate it but can't seem to fix it. Since I can't do this drill either I suspect I'm just not flexible enough. Discouraging.
Not flexibility usually.. just a stalling. Try some left arm only half swings and let the club just form and L to an L. Let the weight of the club assist you. Maybe stance to wide also.
@@TheArtofSimpleGolf think you're just rolling on forward to explain, you're explanations are anything but simple, if you were a teacher OFSTED would tell you to plan better and be clearer. Confusion is the root of the frustration which us killing golf.
Sorry you feel that way. One of our aims is to ensure that a player will know as to whether they should do this and why. We do provide shorter and just drills too. Hopefully you still got something from it.
Cannot recommend this. Watch Rahm’s slow motion swing, he never does this. Jim McLean one of the best teachers in the world in his eight steps to golf swing (watch that folks and learn things) says this is a DEATH MOVE. More goes wrong than right concentrating on this.
Hi Alex what you are teaching are some of the basics of multiple confusion behind a classic golf swing that believe me modern day players are abandoning in droves today. Why? Because for consistency and repeated accuracy the old teaching of Hogan and the complexity of The Golf Machine just doesn’t work. Only Issac Newtons laws of physics that we learn in the 8 grade can be apply to our golf swing and nothing else To start with stop trying to pull your golf club though anywhere as the fact is the head of the club is pulling you so that makes no sense whatsoever All your take away thoughts and now finish thoughts have been spoken of for years now; but they simply lead to multiple swing thoughts; hesitancy in our swing and do not work; so why bother? All any golfer really needs to do is to stay in place and balance as you say and then simply push with all the bones in their body for their backswing and push even harder with all their bones in the body for their downswing. That’s it! Please allow me to explain a little further why we must push and never consciously pull anything throughout our golf swing. I am writing you this because I believe it is time that everyone should shy away from classic golf instructions and quickly learn what the professional players are doing today. It really is easy for everyone to learn with an open mind. And believe me I am 73 and it is the easiest most accurate swing I have ever done in my life. I am not selling anything. But wish to spread my ideas freely on You Tube to anyone who will listen and try it out for themselves. If you like it and understand as I present it to you I just ask you mentioned my name as the originator of the concept I am writing to you today I am currently writing a booklet that I will entitle : ‘ The Doubles Pendulum Swing and how to use altogether the 13 pivots areas found inside our body plus one ( our golf club) as we are simply swingour golf club back and forth.’ For better understanding of what I am saying; know that inside our body our bones can only push in the direction we wish our club head to go as our muscles can only pull and provide the energy we need as we swing out clubs. So once we get into our ideal golf posture and align our bones and joints altogether as Ben Hogan and others have taught us when we set up to our ball; we will then simply push with all the bones equally inside our upper and lower body for our backswing and then simply push forward with all our the bones of our upper and lower equally but more forcibly from our downswing to our finish. Absolutely no deliberate pulling from us should ever occur what so ever in any part of our swing especially with our hands and arms and, no swaying from our body should ever occur as all 13 pivots in our body which include our neck; hips and lower body will work altogether automatically in perfect balance and harmony with little thought on our part. Our golf club ( the second pendulum) attached to our free wrists pivot movements will meet at the ball in the manner we set it up to the ball in the first place..And please no more waggling as it disrupts the double pendulum swing we set up from the start. Simply note as we swing our triangle ( the first pendulum) our second pendulum ( our golf club) will oscillate at extremely quick speed about it lowest point when it comes is contact with the ball and then will drag us golfers entire body to automatically finish with a classic pose. My material simply consists of using all 13 pivots ( the joints surrounding our body) fluidity not giving any mind to the degrees we are turning our hips or shoulders as we swing our golf club. Nor are we to deliberately isolate our hips or shoulders or even our hands and wrist separately as we are swinging our club back and forth in a pendulum fashion. The weight and momentum of the club head will take over our hands and wrists if we let it This is a brand new concept that everything moves altogether in our golf swing as long as we push back and then push forward with all the bones in our body. It support all of Issac Newton Laws. And especially supports the modern double pendulum swing that classic golf does not. When we do it correctly we feel like we are a human metronome going Tick/TOCK as we hit that Spot on our ball. Cheers Hope you everyone who reads this give it a try and please everyone let me know what think. Actually many great players already are doing it; but it is time to teach it to others and see how quickly they learn and join us all in this wonderful game of golf. My idea is easy to repeat the double pendulum swing. And even best it can be practice daily even without a club by simply swinging the triangle we have always set with our hands, arms and shoulders as we would place our hands preferably in a neutral grip on the handle of the club. Give it a try and feel the greatness in your own swing. Cheers
But the body doesn't push (or pull) with bones, it does that with muscles. How do you push with every bone in your body? That doesn't sound physically possible to me .
One of the points is, every golfer will respond to different cues and feels. The exact same biomechanical move can be translated in dozens of ways and only one may work for a person to "get it". And what feels like a push with the bones, mayu be a better thought to have as a pull.
@@28russ Bones and joints can only push in our body and gives us direction in everything we do in life. Our muscles can only pull inside our body supplying the power and energy for us to move. Both communicate to our central nervous system as we tell our brain what we want to see and do. All the bones and joints inside our body have multiple lever systems and the golf club itself is a first class lever. The PGA and many professional players know the the golf swing is a two pendulum swing that is to say golfers have a tug of war with their clubs until the both stop at the end of their swing. What I am saying is not theory it is science. Cheers
@@TheArtofSimpleGolf if what your were saying is true then why are us amateurs left in left field struggling to perfect our swing as we see the gods of Golf do their swing. Watch many of professional players. Except for the odd balls everything they are doing at set up we should to. Try the professional swing as I am saying without a club. It’s easy right? Now place a golf club in your hands and try and control that. You can’t! You have to let it become automatic part of your swing where both of you will come together for the briefest moment at impact the ball! I know you are committed by the PGA to teach what you teach. They don’t want amateurs to even come close to what professionals do. But to me this is a big mistake. Cheers
We have quick tips too. But it's important to know if it's applicable to you and the why. Otherwise it's just tip after tip after tip with no substance.
