Hi Steve, thanks for the new tip. Just a caution to people watching, even though the right wrist angles are intended at impact, they are not actually held past impact, as you can see on your swing if paused just after the ball is hit. I only mentioned this as I had a lot of issues trying to hold onto angles, rather than letting the clubhead release to a point where the butt of the club handle points back at your belt buckle about 3 feet after the ball, and all the angles are gone. You can easily end up dragging the handle otherwise and losing speed etc. Not sure if this needed mentioning too?
I dont think it is physically possible to hold onto those angles, i do just this, hold the angle hard, and the club releases perfectly. Now, i still struggle with distance with my long irons tho, but my pw goes 140-150m.. but so do my 9 8 and 7 iron😂 but yeah, i feel like my hands release through impact, but i am trying to still hold the angle. I yhink that is what creates lag, and not alowing the wrists to open too soon.
Steve, I purchased Homers Golfing Machine some years ago, but as I do not have PhD in physics, I gave up on it. However you just explained it very simply, and the addition of the 'flying wedge' diagram was a lightbulb moment. I am an old knacker of 77 now, but I could immediately see how that would work. I have just been up to the range and had excellent results, and I incorporated the Single Plane Swing, that you raved about recently. I look forward to trying it out on the course this weekend. Love your vids as they simplify a lot of the technical jargon. Keep it up pal.
OMG. I've been working on this for 1.5 yrs. Today was the 1st time I saw this video. I generally only hit a handful of greens for 18 holes. Today I hit 9. But even the miss-hits were down the target line. I can work with that.
THAT is the best setup and swing instruction I have seen anywhere. I am old now but still hit the ball ok. Distance is a problem nowadays . Straight not so much trouble. This though I can see a possible distance improver straight away. NOW can I do it.? of course I can. All I have to do is follow this instruction. thumbed up.
You know it's funny I stumbled upon this video. That is the one thing I focus on in my swing, especially with my driver now, and everything is long and straight. Just all of a sudden. So yes, this works!
Thank you for this video. I've been using the Eureka swing off and on for a couple of years and have been fighting inconsistency for too long. I watched this video 4 times today (July 7/24) and went out to my practice mat and net and started to practice what you talked about in the video. I have a 10" circle paintred on my net (12' away) and I started hitting balls . I was stunned by the results. I hit the painted target 7 times in a row with my 8i and I had to stop and think about why this happened. I also grabbed a #5 hybrid and had similar results. The hits were all (for me) mostly clean and felt very powerful. I'm 83 y/o and will be playing in two days and I can't wait to try this on the course. Thank you, thank you.
Technical Steve but well explained. You’re good and you simplified it beautifully. Everyone share like crazy. All your content I enjoy there, there, there, is the way to practice; Love it ❤️
What a fantastic breakdown on the position of the forearm and wrist at address and through impact. Great explanation, Steve. Thanks again for another well delivered instruction on hitting straighter golf shots. 👍🏻
Took this to the course and was amazed at how well it worked (15+ handicap). I struggle with getting my right shoulder low during the downswing and this forces me to do it. Contact/compression was greatly improved. It definitely challenges your range of motion (64 years young), so I was thankful I did a lot of stretching before going out. I plan to keep doing it as long as my body will allow. Thanks.
Fantastic video Steve, rotating the club face sweetspot at address you discuss in Eureka. I have plus 4 grips to make my right hand less active and this information is invaluable.
Hi Steve, please do a follow-up video showing how the right arm shortens in the back swing and lengthens on the down swing to just after impact when both arms are straight and then in full swings swivels to the finish, you have a wonderful way of simplifying the golfing machine, thank you 👍🏼
Great tip Steve. I imagine this is what the Procendr does, keeping that right wrist in that position through to impact. I have one and will be practising with it today to get that feeling embedded.
Thank you for always putting across very simple and easy to understand concepts and not over complicating the golf swing. I'm left eye/left hand dominant but I swing right-handed. Any tips to stop my left hand being so strong and using my right hand more? Is it a grip issue?
Steve, after watching this, I tried holding this trail wrist angle for longer during an actual round yesterday. Yes I had a few bad results but the good ones were out of the sweet spot. For years I’ve missed the green left and I now think the reason has been flipping at impact. Most amateurs, including me up to now, have (wrongly) tried to square the club face by wrist manipulation whereas the wrists have no need to move at all, it’s rotation that squares it. So as you correctly say, getting your turn is essential - probably made easier with your Eureka setup. Excellent Vid !
Good video Steve. I’ve been training this with the ‘Precision Impact’. It has really helped. Maybe you should try one on the channel? Glad you’re still on YT 👍👍
The first training aid I ever bought was the Greg Norman secret. It was a glove like thing that forced you to maintain the right wrist just like you talk about in this video.
Great video Steve - actually found something similar to this idea by accident, playing around with grips etc (like you do) and been hitting some good shots. Only thing is I'm finding it more difficult to shape shots on demand, but I'll keep persevering with it 👍
Steve. Love the latest batch of swing ideas and your deep dive into the classic literature for inspiration from a teaching professional viewpoint. I liked the club back and slightly inside (the line) at address with driver. If you get a chance would welcome your thoughts on reliable shots from various types of rough.
Great lesson Steve 👏 I would only add this caviot 😮 Please rewatch and consider the not so lovely skies above you 😢 Continue to devote your mission to improving our game yet, what is above you is a far greater concern to all of us duffers than a dozen strokes per round.. What's above you is NOT NATURAL.. Steve 😢
Hi Steve, great video. Like a lot of people here, I’ve watched a lot of golf videos but never one as succinct as this one. Thanks for sharing your wisdom and guidance. Also, love your apparel, what you wearing big man?
Can you explain a bit more about the flat left wrist at impact please? Whenever I think about this it always comes down to how strong/weak you hold the club in your left hand. For a straight face at impact a strong position would need a cupped position and a weak left wrist would need some degree of bowing. So it's only fundamental for those with a neutral grip - otherwise we'd either be snap hooking or push slicing everything depending on our grip. Do you disagree?
Mechanically Flat. If you dont have good spine mobility its not easy to maintain alignments. The people that need help with golf the most dont need help with golf, they need help reducing chronic inflammation.
This flat left wrist is interesting cause I don't think I've ever over swung always shorter I think its impossible for my left wrist to bend back too much if that makes sense. I do notice I don't have a shot shape . 🤞👍🏌💯
