tbf he said it would be bad but that it couldnt get much worse and honestly i felt the same, i just don't think elon's lunacy was considered at the time. Who thinks to remove a basic function like blocking???
In Charlie's defense most sane people wouldn't have changed this much with Twitter. I don't think he could've possibly predicted Elon was going to Kamikaze the app.
Ok either Charlie likes the bots here or literally never even peaks at his comments. Even tho he used to say he wouldn't make money on RU-vid and would donate it all and that he loves his fans but never even looks at the comments.
As someone who’s never used the platform formerly known as twitter and never planned to, I find this whole thing incredibly funny. It’s like he really hated Twitter and wanted to kill it as slow as possible, and each stupid decision is bringing it closer and closer to its downfall
That's exactly what Elon is doing, and what the rest of this comment section fail to understand. Elon has a bone to pick with Twitter and he won't stop with this until everyone eventually logs off or deletes their accounts. He has enough money to afford the loss. And I haven't used Twitter in 9 years. I doubt I missed anything actually important to my life by not using it.
@@liamc8729 No one blows 44 billion to purposely flush it down the drain. You are ignoring the fact that he only bought twitter because he was forced to buy twitter. He isn't a genius playing 5d chess. Just a short sighted man child.

He's not because he knows he blew 44 billion dollars and trying everything in his power to make it back but it backfires in his face. Elon is very shortsighted.
You're spot on about him not wanting to be blocked. Anyone who cheers for the removal of a block feature is probably seen as abusive or annoying by a large number of people.
Yeah that’s mainly the thing, I doubt it’s anything to do with fear or hive minds, when I think of someone who wants the block feature removed I think of those weird ass edgelords that just want to say slurs all day
@@thatbloodyspyHenry Ford is a real troll. The jokes are obnoxious for the sake of obnoxious, and all his posts and comments are clearly bait. He doesn’t get racial, he just figures out what goes against the grain and learns about it to a ridiculous degree just to debate people in their own culture/field of expertise and “get one over on them.” It’s hilarious.
I've seen some really horrible, mentally not well stalkers on that platform who have replied with long vile threads (within minutes, for years) to all the people who have interacted with the person who they're targeting. There is a lot of sick people on the Musk's platform who aren't bots or trolls and who have done this for years, spreading some absolutely insane stuff of the person (usually a girl) they see as a literal devil. Twitter was one of the worst platforms to get rid of these insane people to begin with, the block wasn't really a block because reasons mentioned above - the stalker could read all the replies and interact with them even they didn't see the blocker (or even privated) account, and all their vile stuff could be seen in the tweet threads. But oh well, this is about Musk and that he doesn't like that everyone isn't following him or have blocked his stuff being promoted on every page of that cringe platform.
Regardless of whether or not Elon _actually_ removes the ability to block accounts, the fact that he wanted to should make it clear what kind of site he wants Twitter to become.
Honestly it's not a bad idea..like, maybe people will think twice about posting idiotic hot-takes if they know they can't just block anyone that disagrees with them. It might actually go a long way toward fixing the echo chamber problem
ive been against twitter from the first place anyway. it’s fill with negativity and p*rn, and even when you don’t follow that accounts directly it still pops up. I don’t think it’s good for anyone, and im glad elon is doing dumb stuff that causes less people to use it.
@@franciscofernandez3415 Oh shit, i have a similar looking one! She's a sweetheart. Hope yours is well! Also fuck predators, abusers, stalkers and such.
I GUARENTEE that it's as you said, he found out how much he is blocked. EVERYTHING he does is driven by the need to be noticed. it explains the decision completely
The need to be noticed could also just be for marketing rather than his ego, get people talking about "omg the only app ever to want to disable the block feature, much wow" and then nothing happens.
What I find most baffling is that he does these things and thinks that we won’t connect that he’s purely doing it because of his bruised ego. It’s so odd. You know when cats try to hide before they attack, but we can see them? That’s what it reminds me of. He’s putting in maximum effort to try and be sly and come across cool, meanwhile we’re like 🧍😐… Elon, we can literally see you. Except cats are the best and Elon is the worst, they’re even sneakier than he is lol.
He hated Twitter before he even bought the company. He's made that abundantly clear. I'm laughing at his decisions because it's clear he doesn't value the company at all, and he has enough money in his bank account to afford the loss. It's not about being noticed, it's about turning people off from using the app so they eventually log off or delete their accounts entirely. And no one should be on social media anyway. It's a cancer.
In a weird way i think you’re exactly right. People keep going on and on about how his decisions are going to sink Twitter, and yet nothing’s really happened in that regard. It has such a monopoly over the social media space that it can turn basically unusable, and yet still keep enough people to be a mainstay in how people communicate. Puts a bad taste in my mouth
@@toagradius8856i mean im on twitter only to talk to my friends and im not leaving until it’s genuinely unusable… it’s such a big platform it’s hard to sink. i hate him
He's not, he's just doing what he said he'd do. Make twitter the town square. You can't block people's interactions with you in the town square, you can leave. So he's saying that if you don't like being there just leave.
@SkorpionSSs You can most certainly not engage with people in town square, or is this promoting stalkers and obsession? I mean my town square doesn't have CP, don't know why Elon's does.
@@linktoday lol you can certainly do, what's stopping you? You can't harass people but you can definitely yell at them that they are a moron. He didn't say he is modifying the TOS to remove the harassment policy
@@SkorpionSSs Right, because the TOS is followed perfectly and isn't a pick and choose that more than often ends with Elon not liking someone so he shadow bans. When you let a lot of people back on the platform who were banned for racism, let them continue racism, and strip tools to combat it, yes the option left is to leave. Considering Elon is still in the hole, I doubt he wants money leaving.
My German mom and I had to laugh so hard about "blaze your glory" that it's now our favorite casual greeting of all time. Imagine somebody with a strong Bavarian accent comes along and greets you with "Blaze your Glory!!" Fucking Epic 😂
As a nsfw artist, not having the block button is terrifying. If a minor decides they want to interact with my art, I could get into trouble because I can't do shit about it Edit: the replies are a cesspit of hatred and stupidity, take a dive if you dare lmao
As someone who has been stalked and harassed a few times and have had people find any means necessary to try to contact me after I blocked them, this is absolutely terrifying. I barely even use Twitter unless something big happens and I need the tea, but if he takes the block button away it could definitely be a gateway for more harassment for people who have experienced this or worse. If this happens it would just be safer to delete the account you have on the platform. Imo its not worth it
Deleting the account is probably the safer option regardless if you have genuinely life-threatening stalker issues. A block button is a band-aid solution to an arterial gushing wound of a problem. Also don't tweet things that make it easier to be stalked as there's always workarounds with alt accounts and VPNs. Always be on guard as you expose parts of your life when you do anything online.
What are you talking about, harassment is clearly just a form of criticism, after all who would want to spend their time on twitter going after people they don't know because its fun, makes them feel good about themselves or are just petty and bitter. Clearly they are all just good samaritans who are trying to make you see the error of your ways and wanting to block them is a selfish desire for power over your own life that shouldn't be indulged.
Exactly my thought. I don't even have twitter, but the very idea of not being able to block people who are harassing me or otherwise is just terrifying. I fear for everyone in a similar situation as what you were in with this new announcement. Jesus Christ.
@@saturnmoonrocks6917exactly! This dude talks about Elon musk more than anyone. I don't know of another person who cares about what Elon musk is doing more than Charley.

Yes that could be a huge safety issue for a lot of users, like what you said about stalkers. Blocking is used by so many people to keep themselves safe and taking that away is taking away autonomy and the ability to protect oneself from harmful users.
@@arcguardianYou know there are literal pedophiles and nazis on Twitter, en masse, right? Unstable weirdos who will follow and stalk and qrt minors and minorities and harass them.
@WD_Gaster66 you realise accounts are free they can easily make a new one or even just log out or go into incognito mode to see you. Blocking isn't hiding you as well as you think that's why it's useless
I never thought of it as the "town square" and more of a convention center, where every thread is a panel being held by someone. You can kick out anyone of your panels and ban them from every seeing or talking in your panels, but this specific convention center is going to not allow panelists to remove people from their panels, so we'll host our stuff at a new one.
@@frylander Edit: I was so tired that I butchered this. What I intended to say was: Twitter by itself is a horrible platform and when it dies out there will be no change to the status quo as a whole. Also, Threads is basically the same thing but no one to argue with because it's more entertainment specific. Content creators would probably benefit from a switch to Threads, but that's dependent on how much you want to sell your soul to Mark Zuckerberg.
"Excuse me, that's not a rocket ship. There's no propulsion." To be fair Charlie, this is probably exactly what Elon says when he sees those meme videos about feeding your friends random things.
I think you hit the nail on the head. People are too afraid to think for themselves and too stupid to make their own mind up about as much as anything let alone Elon and Twitter. It’s sad to see. But at least we get some laughs out of it thanks to you Charlie. Godspeed bro.
Dude, idgaf about musk. In fact, I don't even like him. But you are the one advocating for toxic echo chambers where you never have to see opposing views, or get checked on your shitty takes. Stop projecting.
@@renmcmanus that's a really weird way to talk about something like trans issues. Anyone that thinks that it’s a good idea to delete the block feature is a cyber stalker/troll themselves. They’re happy that they can inflict their madness on others.
I’m interested in this arc Charlie is going through. At first, he went from “Hahaha, Elon is a goofy goober, every decision he makes with Twitter is so laughable” to now saying “PLEASE STOP MAKING ME DO THIS”
Removing the Block feature from 'the platform formerly known as Twitter' (tm) is like removing your ability to file a restraining order on the looser who wont leave you alone. This can only end well.

Its a good thing to stop hiding from critiscm or enabling a free voice. Shakespeare level fucking performance. Honestly I am here for this monologue of life. Introspective of the minuscule workings of the incalculable essence of what Twitter is and was. The life memory of what once was in now cemented in this poets words and prophecy
I can’t wait for the creative ways people show Elmo why the block feature isn’t pointless. Want to add: so we collectively understand that THIS is the richest man in the world. It has really been enlightening to see light shined on how much of a bunch of unhinged toddlers the richest people in the world are.
one of the main reasons I deleted twitter was because I was quite annoyed with how easily porn and similar content could weasel its way onto my timeline no matter how many only fans models I block and how many users that interact with said posts I would unfollow/block. Now granted it obviously didn’t work out because I eventually left the platform, but my ability to block people kept me on the site for a little bit longer, so it’s just kinda wild to see this
But it was overall pointless. If the point of the block feature is to stop seeing this, or stop harassment. There’s easy workarounds. Sounds like blocking effectively does nothing.
@@SlurmDudeI think timelines are just insanely broken. I had a stroke a few years back that caused an effect on my emotions. people could easily piss me off and trigger me into a rage, which would cause me more stress. the BLOCK feature allowed me to remove people that triggered me from my viewable space and keep peace in my head. im doing a lot better now, being able to block annoyances definitely helped

I like Charlie's theory. My theory was that he found out how common a practice blocking promoted tweets is and he thinks this will cause a spike in ad revenue cuz more people will see posts from accounts they previously blocked.
@@djjones2563nah the sickos and lunatics are still there, a few weeks ago Elon just reinstated an account that posted literal CP. He said it was fine because it was posted out of outrage and only deleted the post, nvm how the account got a hold of it in the first place.

Or whatever thing is happening at the moment like... yeah I know, dude.. everyone in the world knows.
I think blocking is a nice tool to use when someone is engaging with you in bad faith. So eliminating it from Twitter would be detrimental in that regard.
