Christy went to an early IMAX showing of the Talking Heads' "Stop Making Sense," the greatest concert movie ever, and has some quick, out-of-the-theater thoughts. If you've never seen the late, legendary director Jonathan Demme's 1984 film, or if you've seen it countless times, it is so worth checking out in this 4K remastered format. I went last night and was absolutely blown away. No format this has been released on prior to this 4K IMAX remaster has been able to do this performance the justice it deserves. It takes it to another level entirely and the energy is completely immersive. You are spot on about the sound mix, I felt like I was there and I'm still buzzing 12 hours later. Cannot recommend highly enough you seek out this show in this format.

I actually saw them do this show live at the Berkeley Greek Theater back during the Reagan administration and I have to say that somehow Demme improved upon the concert experience. The show was so tightly structured it almost makes more sense as a film because you could sense everyone on stage working really hard to hit their marks; the energy felt a little manufactured. Whereas in the film the camera has a sense of discovery that keeps it fresh and with a sense of awe at what the band is doing. It’s such a great film and glad they’re bringing it back. I hope the band is getting along better; I don’t know if he’s found the right meds (no shame in that) but David Byrne seems like an actual human being these days. Looking forward to your review.

I was never a super Talking Heads fan, but I always liked them. This concert film however, it transcends all that and makes me a super-fan whenever I watch it! It very well may be the best concert film ever, as you noted. They were SOOO good at this particular point in time. The band was on fire, and so was David Byrne, creatively. I'm older, and I did get to see them a few times at different stages in their career. They were always a fantastic live band, even when I saw them at the very start of their career when they were just a three piece, before keyboardist Jerry Harrison even joined the band. Chris and Tina made an amazing rhythm section even that far back. As the band expanded, so did their musical ambition and stage shows. Anyway, this is a must see for me, especially in IMAX.

I just saw it last night for the first time since I was a small child and WOW it blew my mind!!!! Absolutely incredible and everyone in the audience had their eyes GLUED to the screen and dancing in their seats a lot!

I didn't know that this was going to be a remaster of the original. When I heard about this I thought it was going to be a new version of it with everyone in their sixties or seventies. Lol.

Yes! Although the four band members did get together for the first time in a long time for a Q&A after the film's premiere at Toronto last night.
