Your node explanation was good, telling people that they should grade before a lut. The only problem was, is how you setup your color management. Your output needs to be set to what your screen is. Usually Rec 709 g2.4 If you set your timeline to rec709 then you’re loosing all the information the Arri Alexa provided you with. So you turned an Arri into an iPhone by doing that and limiting your ability to push the image before it breaks. Change your CIE to Arri or DaVinci wide gamut. Or better off ACES CCT as what 99% of movies are graded on and see the flexibility you’ll have if you work on those color spaces when you’re grading. Hope this helps.

Your Timeline Color Space should be set to ARRI LogC3 since you are working before the LUT (not Rec709 Gamma 2.4) Because right now when you change a node’s gamma to Linear for example, Resolve is doing : Gamma2.4 -> Linear -> Gamma2.4 instead of LogC3 -> Linear -> LogC3 Or when using the HDR palette, Resolve will assume by default that your footage is in Rec709

1.Gamma correction or technical lut, 2.exposure/contrast, 3.highlight recovery/ 4.white balance, 5.saturation, 6.HSL/qualify 7.Look/FPE, 8.Global Adjustment. (Can add grain or noise reduction if needed). Always start with LIGHT - COLOR - LOOK. This is the best basic structure I use in FCPX, no need to complicate it. I can modify it depending on what I’m going for.. I have a few more specifically for DVR which a lot of RU-vidrs don’t talk about. It’s a secret sauce. It’s easy and effective to use on every project.

Switch to linear using the gain wheel for balance. Why? you can also use Offset. You are shwoing things, but you do not explain why! - There is a lot of information in this video but the presentation is lacking.

U should grade in DWG not in Rec709.Grading in Rec709 will limit the dynamic range of whole picture.

If you work up to the LUT, then you are working in the log space of the material you are processing. If it is Log-C3, it is Log-C3 wide space. DWG is just one of the wide spaces that exists, like ACES and others, it has nothing to do with ODT (Output Device Transfor) which is LUT or CST.

@@theARTveli You didn't understand what I said, the order is input camera > DWG > Rec709 gamma 2.4. Grade in DWG then output it to Rec709.
