Swedish auxiliary verbs (hjälpverb) are some of the most common verbs in Swedish. Very useful to make lots of sentences in Swedish, since you only need to know how to conjugate the Auxiliary verb. And you can use it with all kinds of Swedish verbs later.
This time we are talking about the simple Swedish hjälpverb behöver (need) and måste (must).
And also about brukar and hinner, which are 2 Swedish verbs that have no good translation.
“Brukar” in Swedish is a mix of “usually” and “use to”.
While “Hinner” is something like “have the time to do something”.

Brukar can also be translated as "having the habit to do so" Example: vi brukar äta köttbullar när vi har gästerna. We have the habit to eat meatballs when we have guests over

If I understood correctly, 'Jag behövde' for 'måste' in the past is like 'I had to' for 'must' in the past? It just came into my head 😄

Brukar I would say is "tend" in English more than usually or? T.e. I tend to go to the gym....
@FunSwedish
@FunSwedish Месяц назад
That is a good point. "Tend" might be a better translation. At least in some situations. Thanks!

Tack så mycket. En sak är alltid svår för mig. Dåtidsformen av "måste". Speciellt om jag har ett ord i mitt språk som låter likadan (musste) men betyder "var tvungen att". Jag har lärt mig "var tvungen att" förra veckan på en annan kanal.
@FunSwedish
@FunSwedish Год назад
Varsågod! Det betyder ordagrant "was forced to". Hoppas det svaret hjälpte!

If you say "jag hann inte ta tåget," that sounds like "I didn't have time to take the train" and not that you MISSED the train. Is that true? (Amazing video, btw!)
@Guildforsucks
@Guildforsucks Год назад
noone says "jag hann inte ta tåget" since it means actally you didnt have time to take the train. Jag missade tåget=i missed the train.

Jag brukar tacka för varje svensk lektion men hinner inte varje gång. Jag kanske måste ta mer tid 🙊Does this make sense? I mean ... hey ... this is just some kind of a constructed thing using all of these three words.
@FunSwedish

Tack så mycket för din hjälp! It's incredible to say, but my shi**y swedish learning book never ever showed me the EXISTENCE of the "Hinna" auxiliary verb in that specific section (may the viking gods curse you, goddamned italian editor known as Hoepli)! It's an italian book called "Lagom Lätt" and studying from it is the complete opposite of how its title supposes... Luckily I've completed that nightmare of a book (incredibly confusing and very badly constructed, even sadistic in most parts) so now I switched to a Assimil training method that feels easy as eating cake in comparison. Bästa hälsningar från sodra Italien. Ha det bra. 🟦🟨
