This is a cheat code to “novice” engineers like me. Before discovering vocal rider, compression was a dice roll for me if I recorded anybody other than myself. Keep pushing out these gems bro you’re saving lives 💯
I appreciate the way you explain the software you demonstrate. For example. every other demo I've watched for Vocal Rider simply said, "set your range." You provided context and gave that extra jewel so we can make informed decisions when applying what was learned. Kudos my Dude. 👏🏾
I just found you because I purchased Vocal Rider and had already watched a bunch of other people's videos on how to set the "settings" and it wasn't clear from their videos, and then came across yours and it got it through my thick skull :D. Thank you, Devvon!
Damn I needed this one I was using the vocal rider yesterday and I always get confused by how that plugin actually works even tho it seems so obvious. Thank you Devvon!
Thanks for this! I work in Production and podcast and was really having trouble getting Vocal Rider to work without sounding jerky and terrible. I shortened that range (and set it to slow) ...much better. Thanks, man!
Thank God i met you watched a lot of videos tryna understand Vocal Rider but didn't get no help. i get it all naw thank you so much King i just Subscribed, Liked & this my Comment i'm sending Hearts❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🏾❤️
Dope video Sir, No One dose it better than you 🤗, Now my struggles has come to and End with Leveling. i was doing it manually🥴😟trust me it was so difficult to Archive.
This is an excellent explanation on what Vocal Rider does and how it is best used for vocals. I've been using it for a while on dialogue editing for podcasts and it's a godsend for podcast editors like me. Combining this with Clarity vx, I almost don't have to use a gate anymore, but the processing time on Clarity can be a monster when bouncing out an hour long chat. My question to you is, what plugins, in what order, would you mix and process a podcast? How would you set up a music sidechain on ProTools for adding theme music? What would your template be for a podcast. I've been doing it one way for years and I would love to have an update in skills and best practices for podcasting from you specifically. You are one of the only ProTools RU-vidrs who actually know how to teach this stuff properly.
Thought I’d share - Just tried this (first in the chain) side by side against Waves Maxx Vol (just raising the lower level comp then dropping the lower level gain accordingly) & feel like Maxx Vol won. I know it’s comp, but since it’s only lower level it’s super transparent
I've been working on some old vocals, kind of seeing what I can do with what I know now since recording the vocals, I have vocal rider but over looked it when setting up my chain
I’ve been diving into vocal rider and it’s dope but could you do an explanation on automating it? Cause using vocal rider on multiple VOX tracks uses up my CPU so fast, and I noticed it has an automation feature but is there a way to “COMMIT” the Vocal Rider and then just use your vocal chain plugins on it after? 🤔
Sounds like someone needs to make a compressor with an intuitive vocal rider feature. I feel like I already don’t have a lot of room at the beginning of my vocal chain
Also I feel a better explanation of the vocal and music button would of been awesome cause those two button I never really got. But thanks a lot Devon. Definitely appreciate you and all your hardwork.
