I find the S.I.E.G.E Hot-Link Seekers are great for background extras, since in the season one and two of the G1 series there were nameless purple seekers used in the background to which Hot-Link was design off of.
Studio series bumblebee movie optimus prime doesn't really match to its final design we saw at the end of the movie, it actually resembles the the cab truck in age of extinction before he chose the semi truck, the one we got after the movie was different
MrDEMarq I wanted to use hotlink as a skywarp since siege warpy has completely phased out of existence, but hotlink is sold out almost everywhere, and ridiculously expensive everywhere else
"I'm not going to spend hours designing mudflaps that I'm just going to parts-form off every time I transform it" literally puts them in on the next shot
but what about siege optimus, earthrise optimus(hes been out for awhile before this was posted so im counting it), evasion mode optimus, mp-44 aint that bad, mp 10 is clean (albeit a bit to THICC) and im assuming were not counting 3rd party but most 3rd party primes are pretty clean, even the 06 classics figures are pretty clean. Personally i think the beds of past primes have been the least of their problems. But you probably are right about it being the thinnest and best at hiding the feet.
One reviewer even Made a video complaining to me because I said him that the small truck bed wasnt a bad thing and It was even More accurate to a real vehicule And used the argument that It was based in the G1 optimus and It should had the bulky truck bed, A pity that I did not know the original toy
And just to add to the fun, for a few bucks more than the actual figure you can get a couple of oversized KO's of SS38 with added diecast/details/light up eyes and swappable/articulated hands - depending on the one you get.
@@octobotimus I guess prices have changed since I got mine last year. My Hasbro SS38 was £45 and the Wei Jiang KO was £49 from ebay, for something double the size.
Actually he doesn't have blue fists, not fully, I don't remember if he had a black palm and blue fingers or the other way around, but there IS black on his hands
That was the funniest Transformers related skit I have seen in a while outside of secret Transformer show. The Earth insect. Hilarious! Thank you for keeping at it I hope that you and your family are doing well.
I'm not so sure that Bumblebee is actually honey making insect, but hey, what do the English speaking space robots know about Earth insects anyway? Also if going by the Bumblebee movie, it wasn't Bee himself, who picked up that name, Charlie did for him, but yea, he liked it, so anyway.
Well, darn... I passed on this last year, but seeing it in motion now I feel like maybe I need to see if I can still pick one up for a reasonable price.
I think this figure was based off the concept design of the character. Which was different from the design in the movie. That is why this figure has a different truck from the rest of the movie.
I normally hate the product placement from sponsors in youtube videos, but you made it fit SOOO well. "The transformers will return after these short messages" and we cut to actual ads about skillshare haha, it really feels like I'm sitting here watching an old tv show. Love the creativity man!
Amazing how much thought went into this Optimus figure, considering all the the five minutes he was on screen, while the triple changer antagonists had character designs that made triple change toys physically impossible.
@@ThrowerOfDogs He's not getting much love from Transformers fans, that's for sure. Dude made five spectacles filled with sound and fury. There's no substance there, no heart, no care about just what it was he was doing.
@@ThrowerOfDogs His first movie was great, it was when he made it 4 more times that everyone got a little tired the differences between movies can be summed up as CW Dead End CW Streetwise CW Dust Up TR Chrome Dome sure there's differences that make each figure slightly unique, but it's generally the same thing repackaged
This is one of the best toy reviews I've seen in a while. Everything is organized neatly, advertisement implementation is great, and the review itself is in-depth. It truly shows how much work and care you put into these videos.
I really love the Studio Series take on Prime's gun, it looks like a powerful smei-auto canon that will pump lead into Decepticons and shred them into scrap all while flinging casings out the sides
I think my favorite part was when you went on about how you didn't in fact spend ages making mudflaps, and then in the next shot the supposedly nonexistent mudflaps are applied and I bust out laughing
the only thing I don't really love about that figure (and design by an extent) is the head, it's good but not as sharp as it could have been. fortunately the ball joint is The same size as the siege galaxy optimus base robot, which is the best prime head I've seen since the mp 10 one
If you want to go the cheap route you could use that beginner airbrush kit from testors they sell them at hobby lobby or 3d print a holder and use a compressor with some gundam markers
i think the studio series bb figures (at least, after the first three shaky deluxes) are some of the all-time best transformers, especially at retail prices. they’re just so fun and they look great
I just realized something, granted this isn’t about the review, as great as the review was! It’s just a detail I caught… g1 primes blaster is held past the trigger, so is evasion mode primes gun. They were making the reference to the toy, even down to the gun back in 2013!!!!
“Like; come on guys, I’m not THAT obsessive of my vehicle modes.” (Says the one who puts moulded mud flaps o the truck mode in the very next shot of the video)
Love your work. Honestly you are one of the best reviewers around. Studio series barricades arms can be made smaller. You left them fully extended. Looks far better with them retracted. Also i recommend a pinch of silver on the faux windows. And black on the clear forarms.
7:36 - Ooooh, that is slick! Good use of the fancy new software you're using. lol "And quite honestly, I think this is what everybody was sort of expecting in 2007." YES!!! ALL THE YES!!!! Oh my god, so many forum post and youtube comments like "Making them look just like the toys would be stupid!!!!" Yes. Yes it would. That's why we give them THIS kind of treatment, where they look enough like their original counterparts to be immediately recognizable and hit you right in the nostalgia, but also with enough detail to look like they're real robots instead of just blown-up toys. Was this REALLY so impossible to achieve?!
as for the software, you shoud've seen it do the size comparisons. I forgot to leave it in, but one of the shots is Bee morphing into dropkick and it was like....whoa!
We are living in a new golden age of Transformers toys, specifically one of (relatively) well priced ones, like I know there has been a price hike on Generations figures lately, but we're still getting really good figures, especially compared to the ridiculous prices of Masterpiece
I also realized that if you flip out the gas tanks in robot mode and those things on his knees, his knee bend is even better!!! Not exactly 180°, but close enough.
Dude! The animation is soooo smooth! I absolutely loved the part where WFC Prime’s gun was stolen one year old, then he just rolled out with the original sound effects!!! I’ll be watching more of these moving forward!
I kinda prefer the longer nose truck since it fits the robot in disguise more as it's more common in the real world but I still like the cab over design
From the moment I saw this announced I was impressed, but when I actually GOT it...man, this is one of those figures that make you fall in love with franchise all over again, because it is so. Damn. GOOD. With our local currency losing value against the dollar, most figures I get nowadays are either second hand or I wait for sales, but this one...no, when I found it I knew it would fly off the shelves, I paid full price(around 35 dollars) and I don't regret it one bit.
I have a knock off of this and it's still so good. Transformation is pretty complexe for it's size but still so simple you memorise after doing it once or twice.
For as G1-centric as this design is, I appreciate the small ways they do break the mold. What's that? No G1 Optimus toy since the original uses the real truck grill for his abs because it just doesn't look good? Well, let's just not bother with the grill abs! That way we can get a good-looking robot with no faux parts!
Great review! Your stop motion skills just getting better! I didn't get this figure, but I did get the AOYI black version to serve as my Nemesis Prime to my Earthrise Prime, and it's awesome!
odds are he was planned to be a marmon and thats what he was based off of, but the film changed it partway through, like how all the 2018 bumblebee merchandise was based off of early concept art
Just FYI; it isn't uncommon to see custom rims on long haul trucks here in the US. Matter of fact, the rear rims are a race car style that is actually out there for single tire trucks rather than the double rims you see on standard trucks which are usually just pressed steel rims
I don't have to watch the full rant about the forth Transformers movie to say, I couldn't agree more! Yep, I agree with everything you said! It's about frak'n time we got a decent G1 Optimus Prime!!!!!
@@TheLazyEyebrow Could you imagine tho if like they rebooted the movieverse, and said 'We're finally making the designs more accurate", and the reveal comes and it's modernized Unicron Trilogy? People would lose their minds. G1 fans have it good. Miscellaneous fans nowadays can't even get a Bulkhead without them making him square and giving him a nose ;u; I kinda wish Legacy did the movie designs, cause I think they have great concepts that just should be simplified. The thing I love about the Bay movies is that they actually realize these creatures are robots, so they shouldn't be just confined to a human body type. Skipjack moves around like a jackhammer. Sideswipe has wheels for feet. Robots can be so many shapes an sizes, there's no reason they all have to look like us, right? When a human wants four arms, that's impossible to do with modern technology, but when a Cybertronian wants four arms, Wheeljack can do that in one afternoon.
@@TheLazyEyebrow I especially like how Hightower is like this animalistic pet for the rest of the Constructicons. I feel making some of the characters like robot animals that also transform into cars would've added some variety. Like Digilaut's concept for Animated Rampage, where he's just a bulldog that guards the construction site.
My theory for the truck mode is that hasbro didn’t know the FL 96 was gonna appear in the movie when making the figure. They just saw his G1 robot mode, so they just used the Marmon Truck from AOE as a reference for his truck mode.
15:12 I think it would be cool if they sculpted a tiny matrix into that panel between the chest windows. They wouldn’t have to paint it but it would be kinda cool
